It’s because half the time people have to watch a 10 minute video to fix a problem and after watching multiple videos trying to find a solution one that give that solutions in a minute or 2 is nice
Very quickly to the point. Great video.

@@TheAGODAMI It's an allen key, usually 6mm for quill stem (the one that goes in the fork) or 5mm for the threadless one.

Good job!
What is that thing called which he is holding in his hands
My bike is BOTH. I have 3 bolts that keep coming loose on me.
Hello Dr Crank , thanks for the video. I tightened it and my handlebar is too tight how do I make it normal thanks for your help in advance
Vinod - new video czcams.com/video/pyB79V0fhd0/video.html should help.
I have follow method on the second bicycle but it still loose after im doing a corner..
Sounds like you need to tighten further.
I have the first type and I have tightened all 3 bolts, the 2 pinch ones and the top stem one and it will not get tight enough. I have literally destroyed the hex wrench I was using it literally bent before the nut got tight enough.
Faolan. Make sure you do in the correct order. The top bolt is tightened to hand tightness first. Then the pinch bolts. If you do it the other way the tightened stem stops the top bolt from tightening the bearings. Try loosening the pinch bolts first and try again. Let me know how you go.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids my whole front steering is entirely & dangerously loose. Fell the other evening. Not only that, but the seat had very obviously been festered with; up at an extra inch & crooked to boot! And was PERFECT 1 day before.. , I may need to find a prayer or private detective channel next🥺😟🤷♀️. Btw, Your comment to which I am replying is invaluable expertise. Each time I'm reminded I say again *THANKS!!* to My Horology Professor 😊 And A Thanks are For You!🐞
@@gabriellegilbert5239 You might have to check your bike before mounting if leaving it on the street.
what was the three sided tightening tool you used
can you drop the link
It's a three sided Allen key wrench. Usually use the 6mm size
I have the quill. It's a new bike and I tightened it. It was fine but now it seems loose again
may need retightening. A long handle allen wrench can help get more leverage.
Do you think you could do an example of this on a beach bike?
It should be basically the same. Cruiser/beach bikes usually have a quill stem so you just need the 6mm allen key on that one bolt at the top.
On the second one I tightend it as much as I can but it's still loose. Please make a video on how to fix this!!
will do
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids thank you!!
But what do I do if the bolt is completely tight and the handlebars still turn?!?!
But my handle keep on moving although i have tighten the screw
How about when your handlebars are tight but the wheel still moves side to side?
Good question. That could be the axle of the wheel (tighten the bearings) is loose or the wheel nuts are loose (tighten the nuts). On suspension forks it is sometimes the play in the fork, especially cheaper or older ones.
i did exactly what you said to in the second part but the wheel still does this can you help
New video may help czcams.com/video/pyB79V0fhd0/video.html
I believe I have the second type of stem and I feel like I tightened it but it still moves
This can happen if the wedge in the fork tube is rusty. Loosen, take the whole assemblage up and out (pull up and twist side to side). Grease the bolt and wedge and put the whole lot back in and tighten. I'll do a video to explain as it seems to be more common than I though. Let me know how you go.
Any advice on how to fix a seat that is always slanted upwards like its watching for the return of jesus from the sky at any moment
Try this one czcams.com/video/AUPRsMENdqg/video.htmlsi=JihRo7uh1hLVE8X3
Can I use a Alan wrench
Usually a 6mm alllen or a 13mm open wrench
Pls what is the name of the tool u used
It's a headset spammer but you can use an adjustable spanner or adjustable pliers if big enough
What did you use to tighten it?
6mm allen key
I have a quill and I did the steps but it still is loose
Sometimes this is due to the bolt inside being rusty. Try pulling it all out and greasing the threads. Then retighten.
What tool is that
An allen key, usually 6mm for quill stem, 5mm for threadless stem. I use a three way one in the video which has 4,5&6mm sizes.
What is the tool called? I'm trying to fix my daughter's bike. The steering wheel is extremely lose and she only rode it like 5 times since bought
It's a 6mm allen key for the quill stem. Or 5mm for the threadless headstem.
My nigga i almost died when my bike did this...turnt the fuck out my wheel
cheers
hey man, everything is tighth but my whole handle bars move. the rod the runs down to my suspension or whatever is loose. like my handle move up and down. what do i do?
Did you find out? I am having similar problem. I literaly cannot fasten the bolt any more and the handels still move with respect to the wheel, if I use force. I crashed on the bike once before because the handles moved the other way than the wheel after riding up a sidewalk. Very dangerous.
You need to loosen the side bolts first. Tighten the top one THEN tighten the side ones.
Does this also work on a bmx
Yes, but it may be a 13mm bolt instead of an allen key if it's a quill stem (fastener at top)
Thanks boss, u wasted no time.
No time to waste.
Thank you. This was straight to the point
600th like
Liking you like
What tool is it?
6mm allen key
🙏🙏🙏
Bro i did this but it just loosen back should i change the bolt on it pls reply?
I would try loosening the bolt completely and greasing the threads then refitting and tightening.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids Your a W made this 3 years ago and answered me today thx
For the second one, what would be the name of the tool?
It's a 6mm allen key. This one on a "Y-wrench" which has three sizes 4,5,6mm. Handy and the tool also provides some leverage for turning the bolt.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids I have the same problem as in the video, but I do not have a tool that can be inserted into the hole that I have to insert the screwdriver into. In other words, I do not have a screwdriver of the same size as the hole, so what should I do
@@TiNjA311 its not a screwdriver, its a 6mm allen key.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids Yes yes, thank.
Mines like the 2nd bike but still won't tighten. What could it be
Sometimes you have to take the whole stem out and put grease on the threads so they can tighten properly. I have another video that shows the process. czcams.com/video/pyB79V0fhd0/video.html at about 2:18.
Easier said than done
When I put it back in I can’t tighten it
Try greasing the threads of the bolt and the wedges.
Mine is still loose after tightening the quill bolt
If you cant get it tight enough you may have to take the whole stem out and grease the threads. They can get rusty and hard to turn.
Mine won't tighten 😭😭 I tried doing that but nothing worked. Please help 😭
Sometimes this is because the wedge in the steerer tube is rusty. Try loosening and removing the bolt. Grease the threads. Spray some lube into the steerer tube from below ( bike upside down) and try again. Or use a long handle Allen wrench for more force.
My handle Bar stem doesn’t have the second bolt :(
Can you send a picture?
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids how can I?
@@rowenaryder3934 can you im or post to facebook.com/drcrankys?
My bike isn't like this😔
WTF I am not finding the answer to my question. No matter how tight I tighten that goddamn 6 mm hex key I cannot get the handlebars to tighten up. What do I do!?
Probably means the wedge is stuck. Try loosening the bolt and pull the whole thing out. Put some grease/oil on the threads down at the wedge and try again. . Let me know how you go.
@@DrCrankysBikesforKids thank you for your answer. I found out what the problem was the guy who built the bike for me put the wrong size neck on my bike so yeah rookie mistake on his part but I didn't know any better because I have
Not wrenched on a bicycle since I've been a kid but yeah I brought it to a bike shop and they hooked me up. Thanks
Cheers. Glad you fixed it.
The long screw on my bike won't go in the socket and it won't hit the rim how can I fix this
Photo please
On the second bicycle
My bike handle bar even when I tight it still loss
Can be that the bolt inside is a bit rusted. Try loosening and pulling whole thing out, apply oil to threads of bolt and try again.
He wasted no time teaching this lesson, maybe he had to take a piss. 😂
Yes, I needed to ablute.
