I'm about to get one of these rifles and will bookmark this video to watch when cleaning. I had had the idea for a softer, maybe rubber recoil buffer and i'm glad someone actually made it. Seems to me it will greatly pro long the life of the rifle

I would imagine that by reducing the hard impact against the hard plastic buffer would help with the life of the rifle. Purely from a feel perspective, the difference btween my buffers and the factory is amazing. These things jump in your hands with the factory buffers. They are smooth as butter with the Decellerator buffers. The kids really appreciate the difference.

@@promotion4909 also seems to me that a softer buffer would give more of a, as Ill call it, bounce back affect and make the rifle cycle faster. I'm getting mine out of layaway next month. I had a choice between this rifle and a savage, i think it was 64. From watching videos on field stripping the savage looked to be alot more complicated, lot more small parts, lot more that could go wrong. I chose the rossi because the bolt design is nearly identical to the marlin model 60 which I'm familiar with. After I get this rifle, and a new 9mm for carry, Id like to get the rossi bolt action. Ive always felt a good functional 22lr rifle is the most important firearm one could have. 2 of them even better

Those rifles are completely different inside. Wehave explored the 22 mag action, and at this time, have determined that the factory has cut so many corners, that there is no way to upgrade/modify the buffer, without modifying the bolt hold open/safety feature, and thats a liability we are not willing to take. However, that idea is still on our back burner.

I really want to thank you for making this Rossi Rs-22 video & showing several things! Your way of assembly was a game changer though, mine is a but tight by the front pin so, when I slide the trigger assembly in, it fights me a bit but, your way is Night & Day, Leaps & Bounds BETTER then any other way! Could you please share with me where one could obtain that recoil buffer with the extra nubs? Mine is flat. I've added a Mossburg 702 plinkster 25-round magazine, a cheap optic, & a $47 dollar Walmart bi-pod to my Rossi to aid in its ease of shooting on the bench at my not so local range!!!. I just ordered this recoil buffer. The one I ordered says new production, so is the new production one different than the one shown in this video? It appears from the picture on the Numrich site like the nuns are gone? I like the idea of the spring not ramming into the original buffer. It looked like you had alot less trouble keeping the new buffer in place when putting the rifle back together. Other videos I watched the buffer was troublesome keeping in place when putting it all back together. Is it any easier like your video showing it? Hello Sir, I spoke with you earlier this week and I bought this decelerator. I had some questions and you were gracious enough to answer them right away. Anyway I got the decelerator Friday and took my Rossi down for the first time, cleaned it and installed the new decelerator and everything looks good. While installing I was watching your video several times for direction and I was thankful for that video, it helped considerably and I want to thank you for it. One thing I noticed and I hope you don’t think I am being a wise guy here, but you knocked the pins out with the charging handle down, and that is correct, but you reinstalled the pins with the charging handle down also. The rough edge went in last as it should but shouldn’t it be on the other side? Does it even matter? Just something I saw cause I referred to it several times today on while installing the decelerator. I will be going to the range next weekend to try it out, looking forward to it. Thanks again

What I think you are referring to is the direction I drifted the pins in and out of the receiver, You are correct, until you hog one side of the receivers holes out, from driving the knurled end through it, the holes ar the same on both side. What really matters is that you dont drive the knurled end all the way through both sides. Keep in mind that when Im shooting that video on my cell phone, Im watching the screen, while Im doing the work, rather than looking directly at the part!! Considering I can hardly walk and chew gum, I did pretty good!!!

They're made to go in from either direction, but the reason being that one side will eventually wear out from the knurling. That will leave you with the other side instead of having to get oversize pins or a new receiver.

But after trying this new buffer, it fixed the jams for some reason about 90%. Have to try it with better quality rounds. Over all satisfied and would highly recommend it.
