  • Ducati has been creating V-Twin fantasies for motorcyclists for decades and, even with the wonder that is the new Panigale V4, they are still giving props to the engine configuration that they are famous for with the Panigale V2. Paul gives you our review of this beautiful motorcycle and explains what's new with this generation.

    • @apexcycle1481
      @apexcycle1481  Před 4 lety +2

      We have a member of our Parts staff here who is 5' 4" tall and we had them sit on the V2 to see the result. It resulted in extreme tip-toes when straddling the seat but, with their foot on the rear brake and the left foot down, that foot was totally flat on the ground and the bike was at a natural lean - not too far extended. Considering that this would be your position at a stop, I don't think it would be impossible to ride at all. You might have to hop off to back it into a parking spot, but that's no biggie. Hopefully that helps and thanks for the positive feedback!

      We think that it is likely because we don't post as often as we would like. We do these in-house in our spare time between helping customers at our motorcycle shop and that spare time can be rare to find! It's kind of you to ask, though.

  • @swagger897
    @swagger897 Před 3 lety

    I think every review for the V2 and V4 I've seen references the heat as their sole only complaint. I have to really ask though is it THAT much worse than say the 999/or 1098's were? My 999 kicks out the heat pretty good when at a stoplight during mid-day to the point where I think my pants are melting to the side of my leg and it's all from the pipes traveling under the seat out the back. With the underslung exhaust systems for both the V2 and V4 I just don't see how it could be nearly as bad even with all the extra shielding and framework there is between. I think the gripes go a bit overboard from where Ducati has come and while I've yet to ride one I'd like to see someone compare it directly to see if it's justified or not.

    • @apexcycle1481
      @apexcycle1481  Před 3 lety

      You may be right - the heat is likely down from the days of underseat exhaust. Those comments are mostly for those who have never ridden a Ducati and it gave us the opportunity to at least have one gripe. We wouldn't want the review to seem too glowing!

      This is the question, isn't it? We often wrestle with full-on sportbike vs supernaked. The naked bike often wins because it is more enjoyable on the street, where most of us do the majority of our riding, but we do miss the aggression of the supersport in this case. It's why we all want full collections of bikes!

      Ducati has claimed 47 MPG but most of the moto-press articles we can find put it at between 39 MPG and 44.8 MPG. That equals 7.2L / 100 kms to 6.3L / 100 kms. Hopefully that helps.

Considering that this would be your position at a stop, I don't think it would be as bad as you might think. You might have to hop off to back it into a parking spot, but that's no biggie. Hopefully that helps.

    Video is well done, but if you are going to portray a rider on public roads, you MUST adhere to the rules of the roads for the sake of young or new riders. Crossing the solid yellow into oncoming traffic in a corner is not the way to win over new long lasting customers. If the rider is skilled, then keep it on your side of the road should have been easy. If it's simply a mistake, then edit it out of the video. Not staying in marked lanes is not only a chargeable offence, it is outright dangerous. Think of the full range of riders that will be watching your videos. Even though this is not a beginner bike, a beginner may be watching it. Otherwise again, great quality video of a great bike.
