Pickles
Neutral Oil For Frying
Ranch Sauce -
1/2 Cup (100g) - Mayonnaise
1 1/2 Tbsp (25g) - Sour Cream
1/4 Cup (60ml) - Buttermilk
1 tsp (2.5g) - Onion Powder
1 tsp (2.5g) - Garlic Powder
1 tsp (1g) - Dried Dill
1 tsp (1g) - Dried Parsley
2 tsp (2g) - Dried Chives
Seasoning To Taste
Pickles -
1 - Lebanese Cucumber
8g (0.2oz) - Fresh Dill
125ml (1/2 Cup) - Cold Water
125ml (1/2 Cup) - White Vinegar
2 Tbsp (20g) - White Sugar
1 tsp (5g) - Sea Salt Flakes
Method -
1. Place the chicken thigh into a bowl, add buttermilk, franks hot sauce, salt and pepper. Mix to combine and marinate for 4 hours up to 48 hours.
2. In a clean bowl, add all of the flour seasoning and mix it. Set aside.
3. Add the ranch ingredients to a bowl, mix well and place in the fridge.
4. Add all of the hot honey sauce ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat and whisk to combine. Once the butter has melted, remove from the stovetop.
5. Heat a large high-rimmed pan or pot with enough oil to fill it halfway at 180.c-350.f.
6. Add the chicken from the buttermilk to the seasoned flour and dredge well, shaking off excess. You can double-coat if preferred. Once coated, fry in the hot oil for 10-12 minutes or until golden, crispy, and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batches.
7. Add the cooked chicken to a large mixing bowl and pour over the hot honey sauce; mix well to coat.
8. Toast buns to your liking. Spread the buns with ranch sauce on both top and bottom. Place in the crispy chicken, top with pickles and top bun. Dig in.
Pickle Method -
1. Place all the brine ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat.
2. Add the cucumber, garlic, and dill to a clean mason jar. Pour over the brine, cover with a lid and store in the fridge for several weeks. Dig in.

Your videos are never boring. The pacing also is great. Not too fast. Not too slow. It owes its perfect pacing to the fact that emphasis is on the recipe. There are no blah, blah, blah talks. Straightforward recipe that is so easy to understand and replicate at home. Kudos!
Thank you so much for that! It means a lot to hear. Glad you like them
Totally agree 👍🏻
He copied this video from another channel 😂
So what 😂
@@Peace_makerwwjd so stfu & tell the guy to stop copying
Somehow you crammed great detail in a little over 5 minutes...creating a beautiful looking fried chicken sandwich. I'm dying to try this. Im a new fan
Thank you very much 🙌
Awesome! I was going to make a basic fried chicken recipe but this looks Hella great. Making it today for Mothers Day. Thanks!
Let me know what you think! This is insanely good
I love the simplicity of your food channel, you actually present it in a way that makes me want to make it too. Too many food channels are over complicating things so you never want to bother making it yourself.
Glad you like it! I agree, simplicity is key no matter the recipe. Cheers
He copied this from another video 😂
The only thing I can say is WOW. I will definitely try this recipe. You never disappoint Chef.
Thanks so much! This one is amazing
literally every meal is a banger XD
I’m a purest with anything buffalo style. It should have been blue cheese dressing!! 😂
I was thinking about it and I almost made blue cheese ranch but decided against it for this one
Made this tonight. It was absolutely gorgeous. I’ve never deep fried chicken before. 🤩
Wonderful! Glad you enjoyed it
It looks very delicious. Thank you. Thank you for sharing. My mouth is watering
So good!
This looks delicious! Will be trying!
Please do!
This looks banging mate! Loving the overhead shots! 🔥
That looks so good! I want to try this
Omg that looks so good!!
I know right! So happy with how it came out
I like how he says “pickled properly”
Been waiting for this recipe chef!
His voice is good for listening
Always on point with everything. Never disappoints. Definitely trying this one. Excellent start for Mother's Day, Thank you Chef Jack, awesome as always.
Appreciate it! Glad you like it
Stop my mouth is watering watching you eat this....I must try it. Again I love the short videos......there is nothing more annoying than searching for a receipt and it 15-20 mins long. That is why I love you!! Our family ( the teenage kids who like spice but parents don't like spice) love sausages any good ideas on what to do with them?
Yummy, it looks absolute 🔥!! 💜
Thank you 😋 this one is insanely good
@@ChefJackOvens, You’re welcome!! I’m definitely going to make it!! 😋💜
Oh man that looks so good!
So so good!
Looks very delicious mate. Will need to try this ☝️ takes for sharing mate
This one is amazing! Cheers Des
Nice. Your videos are a lot more refined now. I like the speed at which you are presenting. Great work Jack :0)
Really appreciate that! Constantly trying new things to better myself
This is definitely a sandwich!! It’s between two slices of bread, which means it’s 100% a sandwich!! Also, If Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, Wendy’s, & etc. can call their Chicken Sandwiches, sandwiches, so can you. This is a Sandwich to me, a very delicious sandwich that is!! 🔥😋😍💜
Edit: Thanks for the like. It disappeared once I came back, & edited my comment. My bad. Lol!! 🤣
Never had either but I get what you’re saying. This one is very delicious
In Australia, where chef now lives, sandwiches are strictly made with sliced bread, not buns (as Subway discovered when they first opened up here and upset everybody). Here if if it's made with a bun instead of sliced bread then it's called a roll. Chicken burger would also be acceptable for this dish.
When is it a burger?
@@danfred579 TL;DR: burger = bun + soft meat.
Hamburgers essentially consist of a bun and a patty, usually made from minced beef, that are mechanically easy to eat because the core components are soft. A chicken burger is a bun with a (flattish) chicken piece in place of the patty. Chicken works as a substitute for the patty because it's a soft meat that comes apart easily when you bite it even if it's not uber-processed. Meats that don't come apart easily typically don't get used as burgers.
@@TheRealPotoroo exactly my view. If it is on a bun then its a burger. Between slices of bread then its a sandwich. Thats a clear way to differentiate for me
Yum makes my mouth water.
It’s definitely one to do that
Surely a burger IS a sandwich, Jack! If a sandwich is two slices of bread with a filling in between them, and if the burger bun is made of bread, then QED, a burger is a sandwich.
It’s a very controversial thing haha. Same same in my opinion
It's not a sandwich in Australia, where chef now lives. If you use a bun then it's either a chicken roll or a chicken burger. Sandwiches here are strictly made with sliced bread.
Pretty surenthe debate is whether a sandwich is a burger not the other way around.
Regardless, sandwich and burgers are form factors - you can put a goat and a pig in a car but that doesn't make it a barn - it's a car with animals inside it.
Haha that’s a good way to put it
@@slamslam-qw8qi The reason burgers use buns and not sliced bread is because sliced bread is too flimsy and quickly falls apart. Buns don't. Since in Australia sandwiches strictly use sliced bread they cannot be burgers.
I lived in the states for 2 and a bit years and I don’t get Americas obsession with Ranch… I think it’s Rank !
I’m not American 😬 this isn’t your typical ranch either. This one is actually tasty
I moved to Texas from New York about 40 years ago, had never had Ranch before that. Never liked it as a salad dressing, but it's okay on some other things. Anything with fried chicken works. (Wings, etc.) It seems to have become the default American salad dressing in that time.
Great footy food lol. Thanks Chef. 😊
Oh definitely! It’s so tasty
Looks like a winner, will be doing this at some point, dayum son
Haha winner winner chicken dinner
Delicious 😋 ❤
So good
Great you are in Australia Jack, I thought you were in the UK.
From Uk but live in Aus
@@ChefJackOvens that's so awesome, we are so lucky to have you here.
😭😭😭 looks so good
It’s incredible
That thumbnail looked so tasty
Good to hear! It tastes as good as it looks
To me a sandwich is something on slices of bread. If its on a bun its a burger
You’re right 👌
😂
Like the new camera angle 👍
Yum
So tasty
fresh haircut my guy.
also damn that burgetr looks incredible. I need to make these pickles for many things...
whats a substitute for buttermilk? we dont have that here in norway :(
As a swedish neighbour I have the same question!
Equal parts milk and yoghurt will do the trick
Well if it has hot food, it’s a burger but I also say sandwich cause it’s often a Monday meal cause I finish work late then I start early next day. So this could be part of my Monday menu also
Regardless of what it is, it’s delicious haha
@@ChefJackOvens I’ve got to make it then, thank you
Looking at that seriously crunchy and deliciously drenched in that yummy sauce....i would've eaten it before it would reach the burger buns 😂😋😋😋😋
There was an extra fillet I cooked and ate before completing the burger haha
What is frank's hot sauce? Is there a homemade or more widely available alternative?
Franks is very popular and widely used for Buffalo sauce. (In the US) He did say you can use any hot sauce.
Can I replace cucumber with onions instead? I don't like cucumbers D: but it looks amazing!
Of course!
can you oven cook the chicken?
You can and in the airfryer too
@@ChefJackOvens In an air fryer roughly how long and how hot? I presume you'd need to turn it.
looks good , but there are a lot of wasted ingredients, for 1 or 2 burgers , here in Australia food prices are very expensive, just the price of the cooking oil would negate the price of everything else , left over ,you would be chucking out or down the sink
I’m in Australia too. Nothing is wasted here. This recipe serves 4. You buy a pack of 4 buns. A pack of 4-6 chicken thighs. 1 Lebanese cucumber is used for the pickles. A whole pack of dill. Ranch costs a couple dollars to make. The flour is the right amount of ingredients for the amount of chicken and the buttermilk is cheap
Perhaps a stupid question but these will cook fine in an air fryer, correct?
Or should I finally invest in an oil fryer :)
They will work in an airfryer. You’ll never get the same crunch and flavour but it does work
I didn't know you were American Jack, because that looks like a burger, not a sandwich
I’m not haha 😜
Good GOD!
😏😏
Lets go chamaaaaaaamp! Im still here Bro
Burger 👍🏻
👌👌
Clean fingers? WOUW...
👌👌
What is the Australian version of Franks Hot Sauce?
Franks hot sauce. It’s sold in woolies, Cole’s, Costco and most other supermarkets
Have you dropped the whisper?
Trying to find a balance with it. Some love it, some hate it. I can’t win haha
@@ChefJackOvens I get you. Do it when it’s unexpected hehe. No one can win Jack all the time, sometimes, all ya can do is try, and often that’s the best you can do. I really like your style. I really appreciate your videos.
👀👀👀
I’m sure it’s wonderful, but far too many ingredients for me. At one point I started to laugh. But just prior to clicking on this I had been reading about how to get a meal at McDonald’s for less than $5. For those with the time, patience and budget, this recipe sounds superb.
If you don’t want to make the sauce or the pickles, they can be bought. It cuts down on the amount of ingredients. Plus, most if not all ingredients in this are use multiple times so there’s no waste. It’s worth it
My feeling on the burger/sandwich thing is burgers are made from ground meat. If this were ground chicken formed into a patty it would be a burger, but a whole piece of chicken is a sandwich.
Fair enough! I always say if a burger bun is used, it’s a burger. It’s very controversial. Regardless, they’re all great
its a burger.
It is 😉
Exactly
save yourself 20 quid and just go to mcdonalds get some chicken burgers and put a few splashes of hot sauce on it if you must. Also Dill pickles need atleast a 1 week before they are ready, certainly not straight away.
You know I’m a cooking channel right? Not get in the car and go to McDonald’s with me channel
@@ChefJackOvens So your wanting to teach people how to cook right? show them the best ways of doing it?. Then i at least think it should be prefaced on some dishes its not going to be cheap. Sure this looks great, but im not spending close to £30 to make a couple of chicken burgers. Could save some if the oil is kept clean during the frying process that way it can be reused.
@@ChefJackOvens Some dishes look great on youtube, but not really practical irl.
@@user-bj4oe4jf3i never said the price. I don’t tell you what to do. I’m sure you’re able to figure that one out. The oil is saved and reused
