Ronaldinho was for sure the most entertaining player of the 21st century so far... He infused the love and the magic of the sport in a whole generation... In Brazil, we used to call him "O Bruxo"(The Wizard/Sorcerer)- self explanatory if you ever watched him... nowadays, since his retirement, he is known as "O rei do rolê aleatório"(something like 'The king of the randon hangout') - in reference to the array of bizarre public appearances, parties and troubles he has been involved with, ranging from playing percussion at the World Cup opening ceremony to getting arrested in Paraguay for using a fake ID on the border and playing a indoor football w/ the inmates before being released....add to it playing ping-pong with Dubai sheiks, hanging out with the 1st lady of Ivory Coast, part in a martial arts movie w/ Jean-Claude Van Damme and Christopher Lambert and the fighters Mike Tyson, Fabrício Werdum and Roy Nelson, speaker in a tech convetion that also featured CEOs of Microsoft, Ebay, Nestle, etc...we never know and are always wondering when and where he will show up...he even embraced this persona nowadays...LEGEND!!!

C.Ronaldo and Neymar are more showboaters, with an emphasis on style before substance and often guilty of overdoing it, thus slowing the game or losing the ball. The former barely do it anymore and evolved from a tricky left winger to a pure center forward/poacher over the years. The latter lost his way when he moved to PSG and will never reach the heights his talent should've allowed him to (he was talked as the successor of CR7 and Messi at the time). His diving antiques made him a meme in world football.
Ronaldinho was the most spectacular one, a dribbling genius who was completely unpredictable. His skills weren't primarily meant to entertain the gallery, he was just that creative and a natural when it came to go past an opponent. A true joy to watch, even if his lifestyle cut his career short.
Messi is the most efficient one, based on football intelligence, acceleration, close control and body feints. For an untrained eye, harder to appreciate. His uncanny ability to find the tiniest gap in a defence and regularly go past +3 opponents is unmatched throughout football history, except for Maradona who obviously was his major source of inspiration.
You have to understand that football these days became incredibly fast, the defenses very well organized and time is the essence to score a goal. Good dribblers can break a deep sitting defense, however managers generally ain't very fond of ball hoggers who slow the game. When CR7 was playing at Manchester, Sir Alex Ferguson, one of the greatest managers of all time, told him to cut the crap and make the game all about him. His influence would lead him to refine his game, cut out the unnecessary moves and become one of the greatest players in history.

For me I think Cr7 is as talented as Messi but in a different way. Talent are not Always the same in style. For example Cr7 is 6’2 but dribbles as if he was 5’8 for me the way he has been playing since his Man U days this guy has been unplayable. A two footed winger/striker as the ability to dribble pass players and score at will something that no other person with his stature has done(cantona, Henry etc) Messi is just as talented but his talent is more dynamic in terms of the eye test how he beats players when he wants and do anything he wants with the ball with a left foot made from god. I’m not saying that one is more talented than the other. I’m saying that god given talent can be uniquely given or used.

I don't really call tricks "skills" because being a good dribbler is a skill on it's own. Either using a few tricks or maneuvering efficiently are both hard to do with that precision and speed. The main difference is efficient fundamental dribbling gets you to where you want to be faster with more protection on the ball while tricks leave the ball less protected and you are usually off balance for a longer period of time. They are both really tight and a good mix makes guys like Ronladinho so interesting because he does both very well and a joy to watch (not that the others aren't) but you can find all kinds of trick players doing way crazier stuff than this but it doesn't work as well on a pitch with professional defenders.
Do some US players! Mckennie (Juventes), Pulisic (Chelsea) Giovani Renya (Dormund) or Sergio Desk(Barcelona) =)! Btw fam, the US jerseys are fire you guys should grab some for the rest of qualifiers and world cup!

There were and are great players. The best of all time is a matter of opinion, especially comparing Ronaldo and Messi. They are a special kind of player. And yes, Ronaldo has talent, a lot of talent. Just look at how he played at Sporting CP and then at Manchester United he just envolved his style of play, and now he’s a striker. He is probably the most complete player ever. Skill, fast, strong physically and in the air, a finishing monster and still shoot with both feet. It’s not just dribbling but game reading, timing and positioning. That said, I suggest you see José Mourinho’s Real Madrid who is also one of the best coaches ever, in my opinion - Coached, by the way, other teams like FC Porto, Inter and Chelsea. Now he is in As Roma

He once saw a Ronaldo goal and replied to the commentator next to him who said it’s a goal from dreams, Ray said it’s not just a dream it’s a wet dream of orgasmic proportions! It’s not just for messi but for every amazing football
