I'm moving out of NC because your state does not help outsiders from Louisiana with their education. Instead, they give you a difficult time trying to succeed a Healthcare program. I paid alot of money for this assisted living administrator program and I search all over for facilities to train me for 2 weeks and fill out my forms and the administrators at these facilities kept making up excuses in not to train me . And I had other major issues with the people that lives here. The people do not respect you and treat you very bad on these workplaces. I ran across alot of jealous neighbors and ruthless people that tries to put me down

    • @darlenemurray5873
      @darlenemurray5873 Před rokem

And I still have not finish the program because of the state of NC rules and regulations on this particular healthcare program. Do you really think that is right to treat outsiders this way especially when they are trying to succeed so they can live a better life. How can you be comfortable with your life if you are constantly getting put down and not able to get a least a certificate

I'll admit, as a native the change of culture has been heartbreaking and infuriating for me. I started experiencing it in the early 2000s when everyone started to move here and it felt like a part of me was taken away. Cost of living is also a reason, in my future, that I will be looking to South Carolina or Tennessee. I absolutely do NOT want to leave North Carolina, this is my home, this is where my family is and has been for hundreds of years, but I need somewhere I can reasonably afford.

Have been doing research on brokerages in the area and wanted to hear your thoughts on eXp realty. Do you think it's an ideal choice for newer agents or do you recommend going with a brick and mortar option? Not too concerned with commission splits initially, just want a place with good education and support system to get started. I turned 25 in the spring and live a walking distance from crabtree mall. All the same reasons for people leaving and moving elsewhere are ALL the same reasons most folks have in the popular regions and cities in the U.S. From Seattle to San Diego, Boise to Phoenix, Calif to Texas or Colorado to Florida.
If one only watches this video, you'd think N.C. was unique in these problems. In Austin Texas we got ALL of the same things good and bad. Booming economy, good jobs, great universities, growing business, lots to do, access to nature, great arts scene and city culture but also, ...high housing costs, overcrowding, rude drivers, changing local culture, allergies, bugs and even a few scorpions and rattlesnakes. All over the world, people are becoming more urbanized and moving to cities. It's a worldwide fact, not just in the U.S.
In the U.S. you have the most popular regions, most of the west, southwest, parts of the south and southeast that have been undergoing the same growth and change for years. I hear the same complaints in places like Reno, Nashville, Tucson and Tampa.
The U.S. is seeing younger people move to the places where there is the most opportunity which are the growing popular cities. The younger generation, no matter what their political leaning, is also more liberal and open minded socially.
They can deal with change much better. All age groups move, but it's the older generation and long time residents who have a much harder time dealing with change. Some people will head back to where they came from once they realized other places may have the same problems they were running from.

The change in social climate here in NC is heartbreaking. Many who move in from out of state are adamant we change our ways to align with what they've left. Our small towns are full. Locals cannot leave to live in a more remote area because out of staters have carried their retirement checks and bigger, better salaries with them and taxes have increased exponentially. Traffic, in my small town, and in our larger cities, has gotten incredibly bad. What used to be a one hour trip to the airport is now 1 hour and 40 minutes. My advice....if you really want t live in the south, don't come with the idea of changing it and don't pay 20K to 30K more than a house is worth. Southern salaries will never catch up, and your neighbor will be driven out of his/her home. Honestly, I miss home, and I live here.

The crimes are so outrageous!!! People are not safe and hold on to your dog if you have one because the chances of your pet being kidnapped has increased. NYC is a sanctuary state so the standard of living is now in the toilet. Human beings are just numbers here. No exaggeration. The cost of living here is expensive and for what???? I was born in NC and have lived here all 28 years of my life. I'm desperately trying to leave. Lived near Winston-Salem most of my life and have no friends, career, or home to show for it. Recently went out to Western NC region in order to be able to afford a bachelor's degree, but the town I'm in now is so small and in such a decrepit condition that the best job I've been able to secure is Mcdonald's. This is coming after 5 months at a professional job nearby, which was so poorly run and such a bad experience for me that it made me change my career plans. This mcdonalds is the highlight of the town because the locals all gather there to shoot up in the bathroom, walk around in between cars in the drive-thru looking for change (or just wandering aimlessly not knowing where they are), and stooping out front and crumpled up in booths in the lobby, high out of their minds. Nobody here can find housing, at least four of my coworkers are homeless, and the student apartment I'm in is so expensive that I came extremely close to becoming homeless for a few months myself, before I finally broke down and went to work for mcdonald's. This probably goes without saying, but also haven't made any friends up here, either. I scour the internet daily applying to any decent jobs anywhere in NC with plans to just move there and be a long-distance student to the affordable college instead, but nobody has taken me. I'm at a point now where I'm just like, if I'm stuck working at mcdonald's of all things, I could do that anywhere. So now I'm researching about where in the whole country I'd rather be, and as much as I love our mountains and beaches, it probably won't be anywhere in NC.

@@NEMESISISDEAD Been trying to reply to you for weeks but it's not saving my comments, maybe third time's the charm...anyway, so sorry you've had that experience...Raleigh is definitely not the friendliest place. It's our tech capital so it's kind of become our ultra-expensive NYC where tech billionaires and their crappy trust-fund kids with their free sports cars live. I would loathe living in Raleigh personally just because of the people there. You might try Greensboro instead (my top pick NC city) or even Durham (was 'the hood' when I was growing up but I've heard they're trying to fix up the place, haven't personally visited). I've heard some people having good experiences in Charlotte but that can be a tough one too, I also learned in school that Charlotte has the lowest upward social mobility in the entire U.S., so that should say plenty about the risk of struggling there. Winston-Salem should be fine if you want a smaller, quieter, more affordable home to life IF you are already an established professional because in my experience growing up there, there are extremely few entry-level opportunities. And I would never live on the far east side (too many extreme weather hazards and poor, dangerous towns) or the far west side (basically Asheville or anything past that, Asheville is becoming another city exclusively for the 1% and is falling apart for everybody else, and like I mentioned in my first comment, anything past that is not in great shape.) Best luck to you and let me know if I can offer any advice about any particular place in NC lol.

Everything about all different facets of life is just so miserable it seems like it's by design, or the sure signs of very bad times up ahead for our country. I finally got a non-insane job that at least pays me for the basics since I last posted, but it barely gets me by and things haven't really gotten much better than that, so I've been spending the scarce little bits of extra income I make these months on things like water filtering tools, first aid supplies, self defense, and freeze-dried food.

I'm from Louisiana and many of the people is still friendly but the bad thing is the high rated crime that is roaming in New Orleans. It's alot of crime here too the bad people broke in my house and I didn't know it was coming I was at work at that time it occurred. I had to immediately contact ADT and Ring to apply cameras which is costly but I had to do it. So I think Florida may have rude people but NC have rude people also. I been to Maryland and I noticed that the people were nicer and friendly they will help you if you having issues. My friend lives there and she is happy with her life living there. I will be moving to Townsend Maryland pretty soon.

I agree with you I'm a outsider from Louisiana and I can say I have been disrespected and talked down by these NC people. They keep talking about my accent like they never heard a Louisiana accent in their entire life. The women are so jealous of my hair because I keep telling them I'm mixed with Creole Indian and French that's why I have beautiful curly hair. I came across so many people that makes racial remarks towards me. Even on the jobsite it's the worst they will fire you for nothing . They took my hours away and I find myself always looking for jobs because every job treats you real bad and will lie on you
I have lost many jobs here and I only lived her for 5 years. They treat and respect the people from Africa real good on the workplace. I have seen this happened alot. An
African woman got more hours and work at

I’m from Michigan but want to move to NC so bad. I’ll be moving my family and I down there in about 8 years after my daughter graduates high school. I’m wanting to leave because even though I was born and raised here in Michigan. I can’t for in with the way of life here. People are so rude, very inconsiderate, and only think about themselves. Laugh at others hardships and your neighbors are complete strangers because no one is all that friendly. I’ve lived in many different counties and towns, and it’s all the same. The south has friendliness and smiles when you walk by them outside. I want friendly neighbors and a kind community. A community that looks out for each other. Plus my husband’s family live in the south and we want to get closer to them as well. Hopefully by the time I can move, NC won’t be overloaded with people. 😔

NC does have the mountains and ocean, but it may take 3 hours to get anywhere, and the coastal plain extends in from the ocean about 150 miles or so and gets very hot in summer. As for snakes in NC, people see them in NYC when they have too much alcohol or drugs. NC housing is currently over-priced, and may be for years.

I think you have gotten a little overly concerned about wildlife in Wake Co, When I grew up there, I would have though I was Daniel Boone if I had seen a deer. Indeed, when I moved to Maryland, I have been shocked by the number of deer in urban areas....not to mention the ground hogs, foxes, and now Cyoties, One day I had a herd of about 10 deer in my front yard, I ran out into their midst to scare them away...and found my self looking eye to eye with a couple of bucks with long sharp horns. I've hit deer on two ocassions with my venicles and there was that incident where a fawn fel into my window well and ended up breaking into my basement.... This year the deer ate all my lillies .....fortunately no bear yet... however in central MD (suburban DC) crime is becoming a serious problem. I have a theory: after The War, game in NC was wiped out for food. But I have noticed deer wanings on some of your roads, so I guess they are coming back.

I was born and raised in the western piedmont. It was a great place to live up until last decade. T here’s plenty of work in charlotte,Raleigh, the triad but unless you’re a white collar worker pay ain’t for shit. All the good companies are gone like Schltz/Strohs And Milker brewery. I don’t know if Westinghouse still has work never hear about them anymore. RJR isn’t the company it was. People made a lot more money there back in the 80’s than now. The textile mills packed up and went away. Anyone working for the state is not allowed to have a union so NC has the lowest labor rates in the country. Rent in small towns has blown way out of proportion. People are going to have to leave this state hell can’t afford it. It’s pretty, our mountains, our beaches, wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but I’ve made mine and I made it out of state.

As an NC native, I’d agree with this list as well as the positive sides mentioned, though I don’t personally see the culture change as a negative. Raleigh has really been revitalized as a result of so many people moving to the area. If you’re considering moving to NC, please do your research on the areas you’re considering. Legislators do not protect citizens from environmental degradation in this state. Pig farms, industrial waste, etc. The water in New Hanover County is the worst in the United States.

When I lived in NC I worked in the security field. The wages were low . One of my coworkers came up with a solution - he got his wife a job with a traveling salesman. She made a lot of money coming in his house & going on road trips. When the salesman passed, she got his house. Whiners just complain, but this guy came up with an effective way of coping with the high cost of NC!
