Thank you for sharing, this is so motivating for a young person like me who is just starting to truffle hunting. I learned a lot from your videos and find them encouraging. I am a professional dog trainer for 3 years now but I know truffle hunting is not just about training your dog to find them, there are lots of different elements that the hunter must know... And I think your videos are giving really good examples of these elements.

Hey Victor, how are you doing? I hope that you are feeling better and gaining backyour muscle mass! We do spend a lot of time commando style trying to get into the undergrowth. This is only for the white truffle though, I think that the Douglas fir forests in your region are less challenging!
@@TheRealTruffleHunters the amount of underbrush depends on the age of the forest. First there is the clear cut. Obviously everything is out in the open. Then in just a few years the forest begins to come back. The understory plants come back first. But in just a few more years the Douglas fir begins to take off and grow tall and begins to shutout the light reaching the forest floor. This creates a dark forest. At that point the underbrush isn't bad. It's amazing to see the change in the forest through the decades. I believe the older forest will be better for truffles. More open and more time for the spores to be moved around by the small critters like squirrels and voles. As to my recovery it's slowed some do to the weather, cold and wet.i need to go to the coast and do some surf fishing. That will encourage me to use my legs. Looking forward to seeing how progress is going with the new pup. Is it doing well with general obedience training? I'm curious how the older dogs are doing with the pup? Has anyone dog taken a mentor role to the pup? I would think a mature female dog would be a great candidate for that. Have a great day and enjoy the holiday. 🎄👍🎅🐕
It looks like a small to medium shovel would come in handy.
It would be useful but unfortunately it would cause too much damage to the underground mycellium which we are always trying to protect as much as possible

It is a species of ivy and I am ashamed to say I don't know what it is called. I really should because this ivy is a common factor growing wherever there are truffles. IWith your sharp eyes if you check out the summer truffle videos,the uncinatum and the brumale, you will see that this stuff is ubiquitous.!
@@TheRealTruffleHunters Is the same plant also found growing up the trunks of trees? That is interesting you find it near summer truffles as well!

I like hunting for truffles but I don’t have a dog
I started training my dog with a potato, when i come home he had one on the floor and didn't eat it so I got some treats and went to work, I got him to point to get a treat

@@yunusemregokmen6330 Yes they are all terrain, we use the jeep mostly off road but also have to travel to get to those places, so these tyres handle both surfaces pretty well!
