- Some Otis elevators have a key switch that says Secure/Clear, this key switch can be used to lock off any floor in the elevator. I'll show you how it works in this video! It is a very interesting feature, note that not all Otis Elevators have this feature. The easiest way to tell is to look for a Secure/Clear key switch and a restricted floor light. This feature is also referred to as Car Secure Access
I did this with permission from a building manager who locks and unlocks the elevator on a regular basis. Yes they do use this feature quite often, normally after hours the 2nd floor does get restricted so the public cannot go up there. I also knew what I was doing since I read a document from Otis about this feature, the document can be found here: www.cgs-closeou...

Hey everyone, I just want to say that I apologize for not being able to show the COP buttons when I was restricting and clearing a floor. The key switch is spring-loaded so it requires 2 hands which is hard to film. I hope you all enjoyed the video!
Jamestube 8439 you could’ve use a tripod!
@@pepsicolachao4537 True, however I didn't think I would need it
Super cool of the building people to let you do this!
Yeah it was.
so touching for an excellent video
Thank you! Appreciate the nice compliment!
Modern series 1's has a separate key switches called "access" which will unlock the floor that is secured without pressing code
But do they also have secure/clear feature or is it a different system? Because I know some that you turn a key to the on position lock off a floor and then you turn to the off to keep it unlocked
Very interesting
Great video
Awesome!
My question: Whichever floor button you press first is the one that you are setting to restrict?
Correct.
What does a secure/key do on elevators I’ve never seen anything like that before
I explained it in the video, watch the whole video to find out.
Jamestube 8439 oh ok I forgot I saw the video I also left other comments on your other videos
@@noahharris2260 Ok lol.
I saw on another CZcams video there was an elevator that had a restricted floor and I heard if you hold the button down it will take you to that floor and if you press door open it will open
when holding the key in the secure position, after pressing the floor you want to secure, do you enter the code you want to use, or is it a pre-set code
It's pre-set
Do you press the current floor 4 times or always G?
You select the floor you want followed by pressing G 3 or 4 times.
Nuuu I missed it
It's ok, playback is always available though!
