- This is a test and review of Adorian by Landsknecht Emporium, a 15th century Messer. Quite an impressive piece of craftsmanship, especially for the price!
It's a compact design, perfect for a commoner's everyday carry in the Middle Ages, as both a tool and weapon. As a reproduction it impressed me with its excellent handling, remarkably tight fit, and formidable cutting power.

#skallagrim #sword #review - Zábava
It's been too long since I saw a big sharp thing and instantly wanted one. That's a pretty knife.
@@H.M.Ot4kuThis is a knife
*insert image of a Bowie Knife*
Beautiful blade, beautiful location! Great job on the editing too. Really appreciated the zoom in on the different parts you were talking about
Long knife is best knife 👍
What about big knife, or war knife?
@@scottmacgregor3444 also good
Long knives all night.
Heck yeah I’ve been looking forward to this video. Love messers.
After the vote/comments, personally I think the thumbnail chosen for this was absolutely a good one.
Thanks. :)
Now that is a knoif.
okay Dundee 🤣
It literally can give your face a permanent smile. :)
Wanna know how I got these scars?
$%&@ing around with a wall hanger.
"Why so serious?"
I never thought that weapons would be of interest to me. You Sir have drawn me with your knowledge, passion and style. Thankyou.
Been eyeing this beauty from Landsknecht Emporium for a while now. It's shorter than the Günther sparring blunt that I have but looks to be more agile. Overall top quality from Landsknecht as usual!
Loving this style of review, loved seeing this little fella power through your test, a beautiful messer with a very nice sheath to match. And to top it all off, we get to see some beautiful scenery!
the blade is a simple and utilitarian design which I can imagine will be suitable for various different types of hilts
Historically those blades were imported in bulk from blade factories and then fitted with Messer or Falchion handles depending on the target customers .
That little thing is great! Perfect for an EDC
I got one of those about 9 months ago. One of my absolutely favorite blades that I own. I'll be wearing it tomorrow to the VA Renaissance festival.
Wow that's a really great price! The price jumps quite a bit to ~$700 with the sheath, but that's still a very reasonable price for what looks to be an amazing blade.
i just finished making my own personal messier, its a great design
Now THAT’S a knife.
This is what i want for christmas.
I like the way you handle this messer, especially not striking edge on edge when you practiced parrying, really shows you're know what your doing with blades, Great content as always Skallagrim 👍⚔
Striking* you're*
There was at least one medieval treatise that said to block another edge with the edge. Today though, it probably helps the blade's longevity to avoid it
@@MegaKnight2012 pretty sure he made a video about this
@@Folbak He probably did. I just couldn't remember which of the Medieval martial arts enthusiasts did it
@@MegaKnight2012 At least one other did and he pointed out that the common cross-guard is pretty much worthless if you parry with the flat, meaning parrying with the edge was almost certainly standard practice.
This blade is a masterpiece!
What a beautiful messer, Skall! It looks exceptionally nimble!
Unrelated, but the mic quality is incredible for the beautiful filming location. Usually with coasts there's too much wind or noise from waves, so it must've been a beautiful day when this was recorded
Very nice langemesser. I’m glad you didn’t fumble, drop it and then have it skitter down the rocks into the ocean.
Yeah, that'd be tragic.
I was always a fan of the Seax... But the more I see of the Messer's the more I wants them...
Nice! I recently received a Messer from a Krieger Historical that I quite like. These handy little blades are quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
Beautiful reproduction. The scabbard is the best part imo. 🔪😍
I'm very, very jealous every time I see you in a video with a messer. Thanks for the video!
It is on my wish list.
I never tire of seeing these videos on that marvelous place. I could literally watch you eating noodles with those waves on the background
"Son of a goat!" I'm going to have to start using that one!
Love mine! Still waiting on my custom black sheath though. Definitely one of the best swords in my collection.
I like the parry and mail coif flat bade strikes to test the assembly and fit. Those vibrations really give put the blade though it's paces.
Now THIS is a knife.
ya! the thumbnail i voted for! lovely sunny day, i like the outside talks
Hooray! I've been looking forward to seeing you review this since it appeared in a couple of your videos weeks back. Been admiring this sword for a good while. Thanks for keeping up the great work.
He's right, this made me smile in no time
I still love the Gustav I've reviewed, but Adorian seems to be a lighter and nimbler variant of langesmesser. Interesting cross section of a V wedge without any fuller or hollow ground geometry. Love its performance! Thanks for the showcase and review, Skall!! BTW, incredible backdrop, as always!
I recently rough finished one based on the gustav and the one done by Tod. I wanted to practice making the crossguard, the nagel and the whole assembly. I didnt care about the blade. I used an old machete for it, as seen here on yt by TRCustomknives. Its obviously not a real messer, but boy does it feel snappy!
It is a bit too flexible though, so you have to take extra care when cutting, but man, such a cool sword design. Cant wait to make the real thing :D
It’s an interesting project!
@@FortuneFavoursTheBold Yeah! Its a shame I cant post a pic here. Im quite proud on how it turned out 😁
@@dan_the_dj I think you can start a post on your channel and post the photos there, and link to your post.
Great video - I love these classic Skall reviews - informative and fun to watch. The quality to price ratio on this blade seems pretty remarkable.
That thing is perfect. Absolutely beautiful! Thank you Skal for sharing it with us.
Title is clickbait : the blade didn't put a smile on my face, you did :)
Corny, but still made me laugh. Damn you.
This one sort of gets to me. I saw it and it instantly spoke to me. I really really like it. And for that price? It's almost thievery.
1000th like! What a lucky strike :D
And, since I'm already making a comment - Thank you, Skallagrim, for regularly putting smile on my face.
Your vids are fun and educating and it's really great to see how your channel is evolving.
Thank you :)
Only a decade ago, any sword under 600$ was objective trash.
We're re-mastering the craft!
I have a Landschnekt Emporium langes messer, absolutely love it. The finish is a bit rough, but I think that adds to the workmanlike feel of it. Can definitely recommend!

Yep. It’s beautiful. 😍.
what a beautiful piece of art.
wow .. amazing. That maneuver in 1:50 is same as the back-cut in 1830's Bowie Knife fencing. Great skills you have developed. Great video
What a beauty, thanks for sharing brother 👍.
Night of the long knives 😊
That difficult to cut through "cardboard" might have been pressboard, which is basically super dense cardboard that can act as a substitute for wood.
Gorgeous piece. Been thinking about buying my first serious sword by the end of the year, after this vid I think I may go with one of these guys if they're still available by the time I'm ready to buy
It is adorable.
Love your on location clips skallagrim.
Nice informative review, might have to consider picking this up at some point.
Damn your movements at 1:28 are so good ! You are skilled
Love the location!
Yup you got me this definitely made me smile 😃
I love mine. Unfortunately, the point was a bit too fine, and mine broke off. No big deal. But, something to be aware of. They have a super fine point.
Love the location choice
That scabbard looks fantastic
This would be a nice accessory to my Gustav Messer
300 bucks!? For a blade this nice? I'm sold already!
My first blade. I really love it…
You always have so much swag genuinely.
what a beautiful sharp man. The knife and backdrop are nice too I suppose
That's a nice big knife!
Skall, you would make an excellent salesperson for all that is sharp and pointy. I find myself wishing I had the funds for these beautiful shiny and deadly things, as well as a much bigger house, everytime I see these reviews.
That's a beautiful knife, I would love to have that in my collection
Yes! Sword review!
I see big knife. I smile.
someone made a skyrim skallagrim swords mod and I'm using it right now...for the kriegsmesser of course :D now I need his little brother
Very nice
Nova Scotia, I hope I wrote that correctly, is a beautiful place. And so is that knife 😁
I can only agree with the general tone of the comments, this is an exceptional beautiful Messer.
Keystrokes for the enjoyable video
Here's hoping to see more of these
Weaponsim has been putting out good content recently. Would be cool to get your perspective on some of them
nice drip king
now thats a kniofe.
Damn, that long is knife
Nice one. Interested to hear which technique your intending to use in sharpening
great location. Need more sword rev.
Great review and gorgeous blade! What is the best sharpening system to use on these types of hard blades? Thanks!
Now that's a knife
That is a beautiful knife. Now I just need to save up $500 to get one.
Nice
That sounds like a nice little thing.
It is a very beautiful knife, a performed Version of the "deutsches Messer" i like it.👍
Sorry for my bad englisch i live in germany and i am from the Netherlands.😳
Sorry i habe to say "langes Messer"( long knife).
Very ‘period’ and good quality long-knife . Good review, Skall.
I have the same sword, I love it.
That scabbard is very noice
I missed this type of video
Legit, only thing i could even nitpick about it is that i wish the scales were a slightly darker finish to better match the sheath, but that doesn't detract from it at all. I'd love to own that absolute beauty!
Now that is a knife! Hope you’re doing ok with the fires.
If you feel the itch for more messers, I would love a comparison of the emporiums offerings.
The local miller/cooper/brewer/etc maybe can't get away with a longsword/arming sword, but maybe a messer saves his day.
Perfect locale for this
as a " messer " is basically a cutlass
( Troll Attack in 3..2...1... )
The card board you cut at 06:18 looks like compressed card board which yes is alot harder than regular card board
I hope you feel better soon.
Landsknecht Emporium makes excellent swords. I have a sharp Dorthea Dussack, and it is one of the nicest swords I've ever handled.
That’s not a knife this is a knife
Looks good this long knive or short sword.
