You know a sword is badass when its blade sings after it cuts
It IS singing. That is what I wanted to say too... You can HEAR how well you did the cut.
The fantasy aspect of it is definitely cool, but that actually has nothing to do with how good a sword is. Thinner blades are just more sonorous than thicker ones.
@@savitbharadwaj4023 It's actually to do with the guard construction and how tight the fit and finish is, and if the guard is hot worked ontot he tang and peened tightly. A sword with lots of metal on the guard and pommel that is perfectly hot worked and peened will ring when you contact it. Certain swords sing, some won't it depends on the handle material and if it's steel contacting steel that has no gaps. A sword like a Katana will never sing like this because the handle is mostly wood and the tang is dampened by the material around it, and it has no metal pommel tightly attatched to the tang, and also the tsuba is usually not steel that is hot worked into place. I have a katana that is as tight and traditionally made as can be and it has a tight vibration and no rattle or gaps but it still wont sing. I also have an antique sabre that does not sing because the guard is brass and not tightly fit to the tang. I have an arming sword that I made that sings because I hot worked the steel guard onto the tang so it cannot move, any gaps will stop the ring. It's like a bell, if the bell is one piece solid, it will ring, if you seperate the bell into 2 pieces of metal with gaps, they will clank and the tight vibrations will no longer resonate and ring properly. A singing sword does have something to do with quality, it means the sword is perfectly solid and tight, but you also have to remember this only applies to swords with metal guards that are fixed to the blade itself. it's impossible to make swords like katanas sing due to how they are constructed no matter how well they are made. You can have thick swords that sing and thin swords that sing that doesn't matter, what matters is the sword has to be a full metal constructed sword without dampeners on it or gaps. I have heard very thick antique cutlass swords sing too, because the sword is tight to the solid steel bowl guard, and it acts like a bell.
Hope this helps.
@@savitbharadwaj4023 I just uploaded a Video demonstrating what types of sword can sing and which cant, explaining and proving why it happens.

@@Ontarianmm I love that thing, but I never see anybody use it
I'd say +1 str, but no other modifier except if its gotten a +1 Damage as well, in which case a -1 to dex.
This is obviously a Quality build,at least B scaling with Str and D with Dex
not particularly nimble might mean crit x3 on 20
...adding this as legendary weapon in my D&D campaign...
Skallagrim's Falchion, legendary longsword, requires attunment.
2d4 slashing damage, versatile (1d6 and 1d4), finnese, +3.
This weapon can cut through any material, magical or otherwise, including barriers made of energy (as described in the Wall Of Force spell). Additionally, as a bonus action, you can unscrew the pommel, and as part of the attack action, you can throw it.
The pommel has a range of 30 feet and deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage.
Finally, the sword holds 3 charges, which recharge after a long rest. After an attack hits, you can spend a charge to add 1d20+ your proficiency bonus to the damage of the attack

At 5:55 I just thought "Skall would make a great pirate." And yes, I know t's a falchion not a saber, but still.
Kiran M pirates used a wide variety of blades... Whatever was plundered... so I’m sure there were falchions in the mix
Besides as Matt Eason pointed out Hangers, Falchions, Cutlasses & Messers are all kind of related
I heard the cutlass was the standard blade for such activity, last used by the Royal Navy when boarding a German vessel in Norway to steal a cargo of POWs from the south Atlantic. Although by then, most of the sailors used bayonets instead.
There's plenty of records of Venetian ships being attacked by Slavic pirates. I'd wager a few falchions wound up in their hands.
