The problem isn't the car, it's the idiots who buy it to then sleep.
Many ppl believe you can actually sleep on a tesla, but that's fake, the moment you look down or away the on board camera notices it and sends you an alarm, if you ignore it the car will park on the side and wont let you turn auto pilot for 15-30 mins.

Fun fact autopilot doesn’t give you any legal get out of jail free card if it crashes or kills someone because you as the driver are still responsible
It's never too late for a class action lawsuit, Tesla is incredibly lucky their system kills way more of their own drivers than anyone else.

@@nobodyimportant124right! I think most cars that have assisted driving will alert you if you don’t have your hands on the wheel. My dad’s Mach E will yell at you like twice w/ about 10 sec in between, then it will literally shut off the cruise control. Made me realize how dangerous it could potentially be for the driver if they fell asleep, the thing decelerates so damn fast when you turn it off. I know the Mercedes will actually decelerate to a stop, and turn on the hazards if it detected you fell asleep, dunno about the Tesla system though lol.

Edit: obviously I commented from a United States perspective where a majority of people have gigabit internet, with 90% of the US population being in an area with access to gigabit cable(not fiber) internet. In the US, it’s mostly normal. I understand outside the US, even in other developed countries, the internet infrastructure is not as advanced yet. Before Google fiber was launched in 2010, internet providers abused us and profited like crazy off Americans. If it wasn’t for google pushing our market here, we would definitely still be stuck on some low grade internet, but Google actively forced GB internet out of these companies that otherwise wouldn’t have had the motive to invest in the costly infrastructure. I understand that if I go up way north to our neighbors in Canada, their internet reality is far different because of their internet access providers and the lack of competition. I am very lucky to be in the US, but also, I am jealous of y’all for not being stuck in this country too. Frankly, the internet is one of the amenities that keeps me in the States. I would rather live in a less hateful and car centric society however, so y’all might be jealous of me for my speeds but I’m jealous of y’all for a lot of other things. 🙏

Honestly if people go out of their way to mess with their car its their responsibility. Even with all the tech installed a driver should merely treat them as minor quality of life features and be vigilant and responsible at all times.

Imagine having to deal with clowns who purposely try to defeat a safety device. *Anyone* would call someone who uses one of those seatbelt cheat devices an idiot. Same case here.
Seatbelt cheat devices are actually useful though, sometimes I have to put my camera in my passenger seat when driving to work, my camera weighs 15 pounds so it triggers the seat belt warning, a cheat device could help with that, however I’m cheap and just plug in the seatbelt lol.

Many modern cars have been capable of being updated it's just with Tesla that they have features that really shouldn't be out to the public, such as full self-driving and a whole car, depending on software, so a software update can make a huge difference.

I used to work at Tesla and these devices can cause the autopilot to malfunction and crash. There’s a special clause in the contract you sign when you get autopilot that says any accident that occurs because of the use of one of these devices is not teslas fault but the fault of the driver.
Imagine having to say something in your car for “patched” like it’s a video game😭
it is software so yeah, kinda makes sense that they would change some code to create a better system for the future. kinda wish they did this to tvs and fridges too but its a lot more profitable for the company to just let it die and have us buy new ones.

I think the easiest fix for this is to make it so that the driver has to remove his hand from the wheel everyonce in a while and put your hand back on
Hopefully they fixed it. I'm a new driver as I am so close to being able to get my license and I don't feel like being jumped by a sleep driver Tesla that launched over me and caused me to swerve into a ditch 😅💀
The "fix" tesla did only works by detecting the weight on the wheel during start up as a zeroing. Its also important to not grab your steering wheel as your getting in. This is been very well known to give lots of false "cheat device detected" messages also causing lots of people to lose FSD with Tesla not doing anything about it

Some software is 25 minutes or 4 hours, you actually can schedule the update.

The term full self-driving implies to many the kind of driving you see in movies where they just say where they wanna go and they car does everything.

I use a water bottle shoved in the steering wheel in my mom's new rav 4, it doesn't have anything close to autopilot but it will keep its lane on the highway along as there's a slight pressure on the wheel.

Never in my life would I have ever thought people would need to update their car
i am literally waiting for them to be fully automatic (as in sleep in the back of the car level automatic)
They can patch it so that you have to give directional pressure like another car I know does. If they do that then attaching something will not work. The problem with doing that is auto pilot will feel like it is fighting with you and will be so annoying that you will want to stop using it.
