Hack 8 totally works! It's Frixion ink, or erasable ink. The eraser doesn't erase the ink like a pencil does, but the heat from the friction of erasing turns the ink clear!

To be fair, the flame erasing ink does work, but only with erasable pens because it is the heat from the rubber on the paper.

For the ink and flame one, it must be a ‘friction pen’, where you can erase the ink when run it with the rubber on the pen. This is because the way it works is that the rubber causes heat due to friction, which makes the special ink disappear. So if they use flame, which is hot, it also makes the ink go away. Related cool trick is to put it in the fridge, then the ink will come back up!

The paper ink disappearing one must be done with a special kind of ink found commercially in "FriXion" branded pens. Their ink gets invisible when heated (either via a lighter, or the other tip of the pen that they call "eraser" but it really works because of the heat the friction creates.

That ink in #8 is definitely Frixion. When you heat it up (through friction or otherwise) it disappears. What's actually happening is a chemical reaction which causes the ink to become clear. If you have a notebook made for it, you can toss the thing in the microwave and it'll erase the entire notebook so you can re-use it. Probably shouldn't use it for signatures though...

5:53 The ink and flame one actually does work with friction/erasable pens. Friction pens are erasable due to the heat energy created by rubbing the “eraser” against the ink. Therefor you can simulate that heat energy simply by using a lighter to create similar results :).

in the pasta example the moment you took of the lid, you cause the temperature inside to drop rapidly allowing much more surface cooling for the liquid below and thus reducing the boiling intensity, ice didn't do a thing. You should've gotten the pasta to overboil without the lid on, and then add ice. It would work by slowing down some fast moving boiling water molecules upon interacting with 'glued' together sticky frozen/melting water molecules. Another way of affecting the boiling is controlling the pressure. The higher the pressure the higher the temperature required for boiling. That's a whole another story thought. Cool videos. The lighter + pen sort of does work, but only with erasable pens. See, erasable pens are heat erasable, and you rub them out by creating heat using friction. Therefor, any heat source will work in this hack, but only if the paper doesn't catch on fire! I have tried it with radiators, irons, and an overheating computer! They all worked!
