    Hi
    As per the video...
    Not much more to add...
    Ideally, you install the correct parts, but when £€$ is a factor, you improvise...
    Yes, yes... I know... leave your criticism in the comments section...😋
    Anyway...

    The only criticism i can make is that you are a guy that tries where others stop. I want to see more videos like that. Thank you very much for sharing all this precious knowledge

    Every car owner needs a car guy like yourself. Most of the mechanics/electricians simply replace parts that are shown as faulty on the ecu.
    You always try to go deeper, try to understand why it got faulty, why it does/did that and etc, and you always fix it even if you need to DIY it a bit which I extra enjoy watching.
    That makes you special, and that makes you separate from the others.
    Keep up the good work, and wish you a Happy New Year!

    Great content 😂.
    An alternative thing to try is flipping the magnet itself 180 degrees since the Hall effect sensor is detecting the field produced ... I.e N to S although understandably we don’t know if this brings the voltages to the correct thresholds maybe try it with your spare unit

    • @LMAutoRepairs

      That was definitely another approach... which never crossed my mind at the time...
      Could well work as well...👍👍👍

    I think is a great hack indeed. Very nice to see somebody reaching this deep of understanding sensors and how they operate instead of just buying everything new.

    Interesting… well i think there was not much things to do… it was someone else mistake when they decided to install a “compatible” turbo but not same sensor behavior… it was a great fix you did, you saved some good $1,250 pounds to your customer for the new compatible turbo. 😅

    Hi Luis , indeed you could have done differently but who cares ? Customer have a car that can have mot test and drive on the road as it is intend , what is the point in saving money with reprog if later you have trouble for another reason ? Customers always complain even 6 month later so... you did the right thing , that's it

    Morning Luis, A great video clip as always. Thanks for your candidness; however don’t be so harsh on yourself as you have learned to understand an issue through taking a risk which will enhance your knowledge.
    Also this is a car you are not familiar with and overall repair cost relatively in expensive. 😊

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 8 měsíci

      Indeed...
      Only the temp sensor was required...
      Managed to fix the rest with no parts needed...

    Pretty clean bodge instead of having to replace the sensor and actuator, but... before anyone does this, you do have to verify that the actuator is actually going the right way. If the ECU is commanding boost and reading the sensor move in the right direction, but the boost control goes the other way, then you're gonna cause a lot of different problems.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The previous video on this car would show that no problems were caused...
      The actuator is vaccum actuated, only moves one way...
      If you watch the first 2 videos on this, everything will make sense...
      👍👍👍

    • @Stoney3K
      @Stoney3K Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@LMAutoRepairs I know, but the car also had the turbo replaced. Not every turbo has their boost amount at the same setting in the rest position -- some default to minimum boost, some default to max boost. So it's important to check if that works in the right direction (by monitoring boost pressure while applying vacuum to the actuator) first before swapping the sensor direction around.
      In this particular case it did work but it may not work in the same way of other people work on different cars.

    Yip, Them hall sensors work on N-S magnetic fields front to back, possibly would have worked if the magnets were turned around as well..

    Thank you for the video Luis. Really great work. One question, why did you need to swap the wires in the plug? As far as i saw the sensor worked before modification of pcb. Did something change in the sensor pin layout by swaping the pcb? Thank you for the answer and have a brilliant day.

    • @LMAutoRepairs

      By turning the pcb around, the pins on the edges became swapped...

    I wonder could you fit the actuator from the correct turbo? or do the arms travel in different directions? Seems a long way to go to fit the wrong turbo to the car, but your repair was ingenious and fair play for working it out.

      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 8 měsíci +1
