  • The 22RE engine was in production for a long time and is in a few different vehicles so we figured why not give it a go ourselves?
The info is out there and parts are available so in this video we try a head gasket replacement in 1984 Toyota Celica RA65 EFI.
    Life is weird.

Steve (our badass machine guy) said the cam looks good & all the lobes are within 1/1000 of each other. He took the head down 8/1000, which he said was fairly normal. He also said that our valve seals were all completely loose, & that we were low on compression in 2 cylinders due to leaky valves, which he also fixed for us. Thanks Steve!

Sweet! I remember doing Cecil's, it really wasn't that bad of a job. I think the polished intake manifold and valve cover are gonna look sick! Great videos man!

Did you use any website to help guide with the replacement and taking everything apart? I just got the truck cause i honestly cant afford much but mine is leaking on the same spot. I really don’t know much about working with engines but im pretty good at disassembling and assembling things lol. My engine needs a lot of tlc thats for sure

i used a few youtube videos and forum post to figure stuff out but no comprehensive guild really. Id suggest maybe getting the factory service manual. Id say just dive in and be ready for it to take 10X longer than you expect. bag and labeled EVERYTHING.
