This is kinda harsh man it’s the first laptop he’s doing in a long ass time. It’s not like he’s tech illiterate he’s just gotta find the groove. This was incredibly done in the information and performance of the video as always. So though he doesn’t have a lot of experience with newer current gaming laptops to compare things here he clearly researched a shit ton to provide the most accurate review possible and hit a lot of marks while staying brand and product positive which is all you can ask. If you can read through the fluff that’s all that matters the rest is semantics.

I've had a Legion 5 Pro as my main for a year or so now, and I love it! Come upgrade time, it's going to be hard to sway me from staying with a Legion.

I end up cutting out a lot of detail because it sounds boring when I'm editing, but you kept it interesting all the way through. It's really inspiring me to step up my game!
I wish the algorithm wasn't a huge pain. Normally I end up watching CZcams at work... pull up the home page, see what's new (tech under 50) watch as much as possible and go back. all of your videos are fantastic strictly because of the quality let alone the info. I wish that CZcams would splash us with some of the new stuff when it comes out not 3 weeks later (for example). Love your stuff and I can't wait to see what you come out with down the road!!!

Also regarding Legion laptops, please highlight the Nahimic Audio by SteelSeries as this audio driver and software includes a sound-tracking radar which for hearing impaired gamers would really balance the playing field when playing FPS games.

Great review and I loved all the panning of the camera effects between you and the laptop itself. The only thing truly missing is the thermals while under load while gaming, next time you game show the FPS meter and the temps for the CPU/GPU. Outside of that, well-done!
This is by far the best of all the sponsored videos I've seen for the legion. Thanks for that. One thing I will say though is if they added a mechanical keyboard it would increase a thickness and weight of the overall laptop and I don't think for me personally that will be worth it. But your opinions are valid though. The mechanical keyboard on Alienware laptops are awesome

I'm mainly interested in this for motion design and video/photo work actually and found a decent price/performance ratio even though it's still $3600 CAD with all discounts. Any thoughts on this for that type of work? I've considered Dell G15 also with i912 gen and 3070Ti but it's just under $2000 so that's almost a whole new laptop for the price. Would you say that price jump is worth it or should I save some money and go for the Dell?
Great review and good laptop. One other item removed from last year's model: the Ethernet went from 2.5Gbps to 1.0Gbps. And the track pad isn't glass, as in last year's. I imagine these were removed for cost savings

I really enjoyed the review. The one thing I'm always curious about is real world battery life with gaming laptops. If I'm spending that much on a laptop that is essentially replacing my main computer I like to be sure that I could use it for regular stuff decently efficiently as well. I'm not expecting crazy numbers but you know at least a couple hours away from the charging cord.
A lot of these chips have low power modes and you can switch off discrete graphics to stretch out to like 4 or 5 hours. Gaming though, you're looking at 1 or 2 haha. (At least with the laptops I've owned)

I have the Legion Pro 7i i9 4090... Just put it in "Quiet Mode" TDP and lower the brightness... The laptop intelligently switches refresh rate to 60Hz and to integrated graphics when unplugged. Lasts quite a while actually! These new laptops are pretty amazing nowadays

I recently got the Gigabyte Aero 16 XE5 with i7 12700H, RTX 3070 Ti, 32Gb RAM DDR5, 2 x 1Tb NVMe Gen. 4, and it also has the AI tunning feature, tbh it works well enough to leave it enabled.
Great review. The only thing I would like discussed which is rarely mentioned are the speaker quality. Yes I will be using headphones, but not everytime I use it in every use case..
Honestly after seeing the last wifi video from uravgconsumer and how awful that was with his ignorance on the subject. To coming to this and see how well thought out and researched this product review is was refreshing. Keep doing your thing man, and would love to see more laptop reviews as someone who is looking to move from a tower PC over to a laptop for gaming portability.

Can you tell me if the HDMI Port of this Laptop can deliver more than 60hz?
So here's an odd question.. because the Legion pro 7i is $950 cheaper than a Blade 16 with the same specs, the only thing that's worrying me is the keyboard being offset to the left to support the num pad (which I never use) and in my lifetime I've always had a trackpad centered with the spacebar. How long does this take to overcome? On a laptop purchase this expensive, I'm trying to make sure I make the right decision. Also, this is the first review I've seen that said good things about the display and weighing the difference between a standard IPS display like this vs. a Mini LED display. Obviously I'd like this to last at least 2-3 years. Am I going to always be sour about how it looks?
I can't decide whether to buy the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen8 or the Alienware M18 R1. The decisive purchase criteria for me is the build quality. Is the Alienware M18 R1 made of aluminum and the TouchPad of glass? The touchpad of the Legion 7i Gen8 is supposed to be made of plastic. Is that correct? It would be great if you could compare the Alienware M18 R1 with the Legion 7i Pro Gen8.
About integrating “AI” to monitor system and boost performance: If you could input a target frame rate and the kind of settings you want to favour AND the AI can tweak graphical settings in the background as you play, that would be really awesome for someone like me who sometimes spends over an hour tweaking settings to see if I can’t hit performance X with Graphics Y.
NVIDIA's game optimisation in the GeForce Experience software does that well enough that I've stopped tweaking settings manually now. I just click the "optimise" button and it configures the game to run to the best capabilities of the hardware, taking into account your GPU, CPU and screen resolution, and tweaking each installed game's graphics options accordingly.

Dont care that the keyboard is not mechanical, Dont care for more RGB lighting either. So both your gripes dont matter to me. Performance and display are on the top of my list.
Anyone have the rtx4090 version of laptop? My gpu power is stuck on 145 watts never boosts to 175 watts on balanced or performance mode. Bios current.
Oh hell yeah. I love my Legion 7 Slim Ryzen 9. But this is a damn monster.
Gonna say here what I've said elsehwere - I'm SO happy with this laptop. I've only had it a few days now, but so far it's my favorite computer related purchase in years and years (and I've recently built an awesome 4090 rig that I absolutely adore). Shout out to Microcenter while I'm at it - by far has the best deals on these atm, especially if you can combine their cc discount and/or get an open box return (if that's your thing).
Ended up installing a 2tb 980 Pro in mine, so total (with new ssd) before taxes for a new (so not open box) was $2800 for a i9-13900, 4090, 3tb gen 4 980 (even the factory stuff was a samsung 980 1tb), 32gb 5600mhz. You just can't beat that right now.
Is it possible to do a comparisson with this compared to a desktop? I have a 3090 desktop now. I am thinking that my next computer could be a laptop since a 4090 laptop is equal to a desktop 3080, 3090, 4070?
It seems only have Dolby vision HDR for video but no VESA certified HDR for gaming?

I have a lenovo legion Y540 running a GTX 1650 so safe to say I am due for an upgrade. Except, given how fantastic Lenovo Legion laptops are, my laptop even now elegantly handles any game I throw at it, even the recent AAA titles, making my need for an upgrade actually feel not strictly necessary lol. I've been an avid Lenovo fan for years now, and when the time comes that I do indeed make the plunge, it's going to be this one. One of the first reviews I've seen, and a great under 15 minute bite-sized review to learn the key features. While I understand that AI is a buzzword, given how reliable Lenovo is in adopting and adapting to newer technologies, I am confident I will be impressed with this one!

Did you also notice the flex under the WASD keys and under the numpad 78 keys? The rest of the keyboard feels solid but under WASD and 78 numpad area the keyboard has an uncomfortable amount of flex. I thought this was a manufacturer defect but it seems to be appearing consistently.

awesome video that likely may cost me 2700 dollars! lol Ive been skating around this one for a while and looing specifically at the 4080 variant, as shown here. Its great to see the exact specs I am hoping to purchase on a bench mark test. That AI chip out performed the performance more on COD which is my favorite title, super interesting!

I have recentlyordered this laptop, i'm waiting for it to arrive and didn't expect the month wait to receiveit. I prefer quiet keys on keyboards as this has though I will be using an external keyboard much of the time. I do wish it had the fingerprint reader as I find it a fast and secure way to log in, much more so than a password. The illumination of the rear ports would have been nice. The main reason I ordered this laptop is for the Nahimic Audio by SteelSeries. This is audio software and drivers that can really help when gaming but one aspect in particular is what I'm after, this is the sound-tracking radar. I am deaf in my left ear which means I can't tell the direction of sound. This makes it incredibly frustrating when playing FPS games as I will hear the footsteps coming and getting closer but I end up dying because I was prepared and ready for them to come to my left side only for them to appear to my right. The Nahimic Audio radar would offer people like myself who have hearing impairments a visual cue to the direction the sound/s are coming from. Nahimic Audio sound-tracking radar would even the playing field to some degree with players with normal hearing. Thats basically why I ordered this laptop.

Laptops can have larger batteries, however, this is the largest battery allowed in a laptop to be taken on an airplane.
I’ll still to this day won’t get a high end laptop until they allow us to upgrade the CPU and GPU instead of having to buy a new laptop every few years. It just doesn’t make sense to get a gaming laptop when they are out of date in only a year and can’t be upgraded

As far as I know balance mode reduces power to gpu , performance mode lets gpu more power maximum allowed. Ho do i know that well i have legion 5 , from 2022 and performance mode is at 140 watts gpu , balance mode my gpu has 115 watts so yeah if u u switch between those obviously more power drawn .

I'm heavily encouraging people to consider 2022 models as they still have SUCH great performance compared to these new 2023 models. Let me know your thoughts.

Would love to see that AI automatically calibrate the display's color to neutral the moment I opened apps like photoshop. Then automatically boost the colors when watching movies.

Has any manufacturer ever made a laptop with a larger than 100Wh battery? I've never taken a laptop on a plan and I don't ever plan on doing so (and I'm sure a lot of other people are in the same boat), so limiting all models to what's allowed on a plane seems a bit strange.
I think it just makes sense not to make over 100Wh laptops, especially since most people wouldn't think to check if they could take a laptop on a plane. Plus with gaming laptops you usually plug in to play anyway.

Just a heads up, I got this laptop a few days ago after watching nothing but positive reviews on it but it definitely has some niggles. It has frozen multiple times, gone into hibernation even when it's set to never sleep/hibernate and then you can't wake the laptop up. I had an acer nitro 5 which was £700, a quarter of the price and I never had any problems with it over 2 years, my legion 7i pro has had problems within a day. Also the screen flickers with hdr enabled so i cant use that. No reviews I've seen have covered this but as soon as you google the problems I have you see they're very common, not just on the 7i pro, across other legion/lenovo products in general. Its a shame it has those niggles because it plays games beautifully and the chassis feels extremely high quality. It's an amazing laptop but lenovo need to address the issues, it's not acceptable on a £2.5-3k laptop.
I wonder how often these issues are happening. Did you get those fixed via support? I guess you could even return the device if it shows defects within such a short period of time after shipping. Hope you get it sorted.
