She did the right thing. Just because someone is disabled doesn’t mean they should be excused from awful behavior and actions. He needed to be held accountable. He definitely knew he did something wrong. But he didn’t think he would get in trouble because his parents have money.
The part that got to me when I read your comment... he knew that his parents had the money to just make it all go away. He knew he did something wrong, but it's more disturbing to me that he had the understanding money could potentially buy his way out. OP did the right thing, I agree. So often, serial killers actually do have mental health issues, for example psychopathy and we hold them responsible. So that said, going back to serial killers simply to show an example I am not saying Charlie is one or will become one ever, i am saying it starts with a much smaller first offense. It this was Charlie's first offense if this was where it started... where would it end if he doesn't get help, yes he is disabled and so much more his parents should help him and use their money to make sure he has whatever help he will need to help him not end up much worse off. OP, my heart is with you. You should never have been treated the way you were treated, ever. We need to believe victims. I hope you are ok. Sending you love and kindness OP.
If he really did think his parents having money would make everything go away that shows he either understands the situation better than people claim or that hes gotten in trouble like this before and his parents threw some money around and fixed the problem and if that’s the case then this won’t be the last time he does something like this either
My ex's brother interfered with and raped my girl when she was 4 and also made her watch while he defiled his 1yr old other niece as well. My own mother felt sorry for him because she thought of him like a child. He was in his 30s.
He knew what he was doing. His ex girlfriend who had a small child suddenly up and left town, he was also caught, beat up, and fined for being a peeping tom.
OP did the right thing. He needed to be held accountable. At least now the employees know what he is capable of doing, so maybe they will be cautious.
Most definitely she did the right thing .. If she had dropped the charge , her credibility would have been at stake , and would basically give him “Carte Blanche” to do it to someone else..I believe he is quite devious.. When someone shows you who they are , believe them !!
The victim blaming in the first story makes me furious. People who are supposed to be supporting her and her friends turned against her. And the only reason they wanted him released is because of his parents money. Unbelievable. I’m so glad she pressed charges and saved other women from this man.
I find it crazy how anyone could side with "Charlie" honestly.
Disabled people don’t get a pass for rape and assault. Most of them know exactly what they’re doing and the difference between right and wrong.
And even if they didn't know the difference, it wouldn't make it less wrong or the victims suffering less important. Disability is an explanation, not an excuse.
Even if they didn’t know, they still posed an extreme danger to others around them. That would still get them institutionalized in some manner.

That first story was heartbreaking.
Ultimately, Charlie was functioning well enough to know what he was doing was wrong. So I’m glad the victim stood her ground, good on her, and massive respect.
The first story hits close to home for me. I'm autistic and when I was younger, I attended one of those community center type places. There was this one intellectually disabled man (back then, he would have been described as mentally R-word. It wasn't considered a slur then) who was always groping me, trying to kiss me, and putting his hands under my clothes, and talking about the things he'd like to do to me. I told him to quit, that I didn't like that, but he seemed to enjoy my distress.
So I took my concerns to the administration. They shrugged it off, first saying that I should go on a date with him because women like me can't be choosey! Then they said that because he's R-word, he didn't know any better and that I should be nice.
That's when my dad got involved. I don't know exactly what he said to them, but as soon as Dad was done talking to them, they had a chat with the guy, and from then on, he stayed away from me. He would walk along the wall in any room we were in, sit as far away as he could, wouldn't look in my direction. I don't know what they said to him, but he was terrified. (Good.) Within the week, he'd left the program. The administration treated me like I was a problem client for the rest of my time there.
He understood just fine, and knew what he'd been saying and doing was wrong. He was disabled, not stupid, and had learned long ago that he could use everyone's ableist attitudes to his advantage.

But that does seem to be the overall attitude from people: if you happen to be female, be happy to get some attention from a male. At least it used to be, before the "Me Too" movement. (Though I think that pendulum has now swung too far in the opposite direction.)
If you happen to be a disabled female, it becomes "oh, it's all in your head, dear. Sit down and finish your coloring book." That attitude, sadly, hasn't changed a bit.

The guy may not have actually been mentally challenged. He could have been feigning a low IQ so that he could get away more easily with doing disgusting things like attempting to perform r*ape.
I really wish that nurse would have sued Charlie’s parents, and Charlie for lying and damage physically and mentally and sued her work for suspending her without pay after she was the victim and not firing those who called her names.
She would be very comfortable in the settlement she would receive imo. I as a jury member would reward her compensation, and the comments tell me I am not alone.
If he hurts anyone else in the future or if she gets diagnosed with PTSD and realizes it was from that trauma she may still be able to sue. I really hope she seeks some legal help with this matter.
The first story is actually really sad because I couldn't imagine someone going through that kind of traumatic experience and have others tell you to put your emotions and trauma aside for the sake of a tax cut.

I'm not going to say why I think this but I just want to say I bet this wasn't Charlie's first rodeo . The way he executed this makes me think it's not even his second one. That was very cleverly and thought out. Just know that I hear you and I understand so much. I hope time has helped heal some of your hurt. Having people doubt you and put you out of a job you loved is almost as painful as the assault it self.
Parents probably paid the other victims off. I’m sure they knew right away what he did and weren’t surprised.
Really wished she would have sued them . If I was on a jury I would have rewarded her money from them for lying and from the work for not paying her, the victim!
@@illbeyourstumbleineHell, it’s just as likely Charlie was a victim as well. Statistically, those with developmental disabilities are more likely to be victims of sex crimes. While it’s less likely for us to go on and commit sex crimes as a result of trauma, it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility there would be some outliers. After all, he had to learn it from somewhere. Only two places he really could’ve learned it was from his parents, or other care workers. Obviously that doesn’t make it right, at all. I just wish his parents would’ve been thoroughly investigated.

As someone who has done similar job, the first story hits hard. We always want to think best of our clients, but we always need to look our backs. But scariest part of the whole story was how the center handled thinks. You would think that they would be more worried about it happening again.

As far as the disabled one his parents and everyone else who sat there and told her she was lying pretty much and getting on her about dropping everything, those people are extremely malicious and selfish in my book, and I really wonder if he was as disabled as they claim, because he seemed way to detail oriented I guess is the word, with trying to cover his ass after words, just my thoughts

Charlie 10000000% needed to be A) held accountable and B) removed from the center. If he felt bold enough to go for *staff,* what would stop him for going after even more vulnerable targets? Namely, other visitors. OP said their client base was "mostly" male, not exclusively. And Charlie being that violent once can't be taken back. He's already proven he can and WILL use his size and disability to get what he wants. Very very very scary. Good on OP for sticking to her guns and following through with the charges then leaving.
I can relate to the first story. I am not only an MA at a Dr. office, but also work as a care-giver for ppl with TBIs. Even the most calm and cute resident can turn your world in to a horror movie.
That first story!!!! That first story brought back alot of bad memories. I had something very similar happen with someone who has learning difficulties but knew right from wrong and let me tell ya listening to her events and the outcome, it appears she has healed to a point but dang, this attack happened to me over 15 years ago and I still have a fear of people with learning disabilities as she described and I know that sounds awful but I can't help it, I shut down, I take a step back and know my exits to the room. I can remember the first time i seen my attacker after my attack and I had a panic attack so bad i passed out and literally wet my pants outta fear and he was waiting at a bus stop and I was in a car driving by.
The difference between her story and mine was, he bragged about what he did.

@@marcoamazo it follows a pretty basic story structure, and the only two main characters are “me” and “Charlie”. Charlie doesn’t even have a last name. And the story flows on in a pretty obvious fashion. It’s no Stephen King novel though.

I wouldn’t necessarily think the person in the first story was the first or only victim. Just the first that his parents couldn’t make go away.
As someone who was SAd at three by a family member(cousin) with FAS, I can say they dont ever stop. He eventually was incarcerated for 5 years and then when let out he literally told the judge that next time he would k*ll the kids so he would never get caught. My aunt and uncle who took him in (his mom and dad had since passed away) would bring him to family functions. I quit going to family functions and cut all ties with my extended family when I caught him staring at my daughter and niece both 2 yrs while grabbing himself. But I was labled the problem...

A friend of mine teaches music therapy for people in similar mental issues (it sounds like).
One day, out of the blue, been a student for years he did something similar. Goes to show. Keep your guard up. With anyone.
For the people that didnt believe it was Charlie at first I’m just curious what they think happened then cause it’s not like she said he touched her inappropriately and that’s it, her clothes were torn and she was bloody battered and bruised so unless they just think she fell or did that to herself who do they think attacked her if they’re so sure it wasn’t Charlie? And I think he was highly functional enough to know what he did was wrong but even if he didn’t know better he still viciously beat the poor girl so whether or not he’s mentally capable of understanding his actions is irrelevant because he’s still potentially dangerous especially since it was said that he’s fairly big and strong and the staff is mostly female so if he happens to go off in someone again whether he intends to hurt someone or not doesn’t matter because the fact is he will do a lot of damage. I definitely sympathize with people that have special needs and I know they can lash out and not realize what they’re doing is wrong or that they can or r hurting someone but if what the op is saying is the absolute unbiased truth and that’s exactly how it happened then it doesn’t seem to me like it’s that type of situation it seems like Charlie had malicious intentions and fully knew what he was doing and that it was wrong

I can only imagine how he probably got away with things like this growing up… The part that makes me think was when he realized that what he was doing was wrong. He figured it out. He could not go further than this if he was to get away with this. So he was thinking clearly no doubt about it.

I find it very hard to believe that the centre didn't believe OP's story: I think the fact that the centre depended on Charlie's parents for a lot of its support is probably more of a reason for how this attack was "dealt with".

If she hadnt pressed charges then his record would still be clean. He could have done similar things before and not been charged hence the clean record. She did the right thing. Unfortunately after her first complaint about him i think a safeguarding plan should have been put in place, so that no woman was left alone with him. (If this was a true case that is)
Story #3 makes little sense. Pregnant lady being followed by two creeps as she's driving home from work. She states that she recently moved to that particular city & has no idea where the police station is, but her parents live only 4 streets from her place... Huh? Did she not grow up in her parents' house? Or did they move to the same new city, at the same time she did? Ok, I'm confused, anyone else? 🤔🤨
I mean I'll be honest I've lived in my current city most of my life and could not for the life of me tell you were the nearest police station is. Not from my current house or from any of the houses of my childhood...but I could drive to most of those houses even now without naming a single street. People are just creatures of habit like that.
When I was in high school I was sitting in the office waiting to be picked up when one of the disabled kids came in and started talking to me, when it was time for me to leave he grabbed my chest in front of the secretary and some other students, they did nothing to him, didn’t even sit him down and talk to him about it cause he was disabled. I eventually found out that kid knew exactly what he was doing, he had done it before to other girls and continued to do it until he graduated, he even grabbed a girls lady biscuit one time and the school did nothing cause he was disabled! According to other students who volunteered to help the teachers with the disabled kids this kid was obsessed with sex and the female body. He did this the whole 4 years of school and was not punished or talked to about how wrong and inappropriate it was to do this at all!
People need to keep in mind that disabled doesnt mean brain dead. There are different levels of mentally challenged, some are functioning at the age of an elementary schooler and some are functioning just a bit different than others and others are everywhere in between. To immediately dismiss someones behavior simply because of their disability not only dissolves them of all accountability but also infantilizes them. They know what is right and wrong. Their morality might just be at a different stage. (E.g. children often wonder why people dont just do certain things because they dont understand its just not possible versus people not doing things because they just dont want to.) Please never skip reporting something just because the person has a disability.

the Charlie story is horrible the workers are dumb asf for not siding with the girl. she was clearly the victim. she was basically raped..honestly I think the other workers didnt want Charlie to leave because they used Charlie for contributions for the centre..the other workers are gold diggers for real.i don't understand why they would naturally turn against him..she deserves better,
So disgusting that disabled people like Charlie basically get a pass for attempted rape and brutality assaulting someone, as someone who had to work with one who ended up almost killing a co worker by stomping his head after a he was confronted for stealing, he got a big payout after police arrested him without contacting his parents

I hate to say it but that first story is a prime example of the old saying: money talks, BS walks. No one really seems to want to do anything when there's a lot of money riding on the line and would much prefer taking the money over ensuring the safety of others. I'm no saint, myself, but to be honest, if I had to choose a lot of money over my friends and loved ones, I would definitely be telling the person in question where they can stick their money

Wow, hard story with the nurse and the intellectually challenged man. I feel the blame lies with his parents. Obviously they weren’t paying attention to certain things he knew on the carnal side.
I am the mom of an intellectually challenged son, he just turned 33. However, I raised him with the beliefs that it was wrong to hit anyone, let alone a woman and he was told he needed to respect women always. While he seems normal to many, every so often you catch a glimpse that he is delayed and immature. I spoke to him about sex, love and that anyone could love anyone no matter who they chose. While I am sure he has experienced self pleasure which I spoke with him about, saying it was perfectly normal and private, he hasn’t had a girlfriend. He would never in a million years attempt to assault anyone in that way or any other way. How I did this man at the centre have knowledge of such disgusting ideas? Obviously he was never taught, nor educated about sex and left to his own devices to explore whatever he may come across online, or in print.
The victim is not at fault and I am sorry to say, he was well aware his actions were wrong because he tried to hide it by lying, making up stories etc. That proves he knows right from wrong in some way. Just because a person is disabled, doesn’t mean they cannot be held accountable especially when they are aware of the wrong doing. I don’t think he should go to prison, that would be cruel, but in some form of custody with professional treatment is surely in order. Should he prove hard to treat, which I find unlikely, he should be monitored constantly by the right people. His parents have already screwed up by not teaching him about certain behaviours and acceptable interactions, he should never go back to them unless they can prove they will be responsible and continue his behavioural care. The attitude of those who think she is in the wrong is twisted and leans toward far left crazy liberalism. No better than the far right that would want him imprisoned without question.

In her defense I can get why she said a woman.
For her son and Charlie, they would probably be too scared an intimidated to hit another man, but a smaller weaker woman wouldn’t have that physical fear there, only mental fear and knowing they’re wrong.
That’s why Charlie lied, he knew it was wrong. He had the fear of getting caught, just like he would have fear of hitting a man who he would know has more life/fighting experience than him and also has the strength he does.

About the first story, it doesn't matter in which way that co-worker meant "selfish". Oh, how nice to know that your injuries matter less to your so-called "caring" co-workers than gifts from a rapey psycho
Dude if anyone listens to the first story (by Nurscenary-Anonymous) and DOES side with Charlie or the coworker, then they have a very imminent and imperative need to do some heavy self-reflecting and see a professional like a therapist to help sort through everything they're going through and get a more objective view on if they need help in any direction or if they are ok on that topic. This may sound harsh of me but seriously dude.... There's nothing about her dropping the charges that would have helped anyone.
She was incredibly brave to not only report everything, but to also stand strong in the face of doubt from people and a place she loved and respected.
Charlie clearly knew what he was doing, and he knew it was wrong. He'd already been given plenty of chances... Maybe more than he deserved tbh in retrospect. But the coworker saying she was selfish is so off kilter... Would that same coworker value money and gifts more still if he was let off and next time he attacked her?

There's no indication in this story at least that they either are objective enough to realize their son is dangerous, or that they aren't actually completely aware and have been using their money to bribe and cover everything up.
As a side note... His parents saying he got home at the normal time stood out. Assuming they're telling the truth, it could be what OP said that he ran the whole way... But what if in fact what that really means is Charlie had been lurking around hidden near the facility or out on the streets for hours every night-- stalking or creeping or planning to hurt women? What if his "normal" was a lot more sinister than anyone thought?
People need to realize peoples crimes can’t always be excused because their disabled.
I have 2 neurodevelopmental disabilities (ADHD & Dyslexia) and I’m chronically ill, and I have multiple friends who are autistic and/or have other disabilities as well, we’ve all discussed how dumb the system is to carelessly let disabled people get away with such disgusting crimes..
one of my closest friend’s (who’s autistic & has special needs) has also pointed out a disabled person can’t just get away with crimes like SA, *a disability does not have the power to force an entire person to r@pe someone else, nor is it a excuse for crimes like that.*
I remember there was a case where a disabled 20-something year old got away with r-ping a toddler alongside allegations from one of their younger relative’s being SA by them.. the system can’t always treat disabled people as toddlers who have no concept of right and wrong (yea some disabled people have the psychological profile of a toddler, but toddlers can also understand the concept of right and wrong if their taught.) 99% of these crimes committed by disabled people *know enough from right & wrong to actually understand what they did/doing is wrong.*

The first one. Reminds me of what happened to me when I worked at Costco. I however, dropped the Charges. Because I did love my job, and wanted it back. Unfortunately, I gave up the chance for a good pay out. And no clear chance of ever getting it back. So, it was a Lose situation for me.

People don’t take into consideration that although a person is disabled and mentally childlike, that has nothing to do with the fully adult hormones they have. It’s hard for them to understand their own feelings. So with adult hormones and adult strength, they handle things the way they want to, just as a child who doesn’t grasp the consequences of his own actions.

For story number one, what the people are saying and doing to that poor woman, is literally victim shaming. I learned that myself through my own sexual assault so, it’s tough when people don’t believe you. Or when they tell you that you’re wrong, or maybe something else happened. But, the fact that so many people didn’t believe her baffles me. Did she rip her clothes herself? Why would she lie about that? And her boss even knew about the first time that he said something super inappropriate to her. I don’t know why he didn’t step in. But, I can’t believe that she lost her job over everyone being a victim shamer. It’s good that she stuck to her guns on not dropping the charges. I am so sorry that that happened to you. Stay strong!! ❤❤

This is by no means the same as the first story but I had a similar situation happen to me. I did choir in high school and at a very prestigious event i was stood next to a autistic student who SA me during the event. I told my director who immediately had my back just for the event coordinator (and others) tell me that “he doesn’t know what he was doing” do you know how hard that damn music we learned was?? How can he be held accountable to perform this music perfectly but not be held accountable for assaulting me? I hope the girl from the first story found peace of her situation because it took me awhile..
The first story made me mad. How would they themselves react if it had been them that had been attacked? I'm glad she held her ground.

the fact that the charlie guy changed his story so many times and even went as far as to say the nurse girl touched him first, shows socially understanding manipulation and also sociopathy and he def would of hurt someone again, he was a ticking timebomb.

To the young lady who was assaulted by Charlie you did the right thing. I had a young man do something similar and that is the typical reaction, they know what there doing and they'll push buttons to see what they can get away with. If the author of the first story reads this. I believe you, no question. I know what some challenged people can be like. My brother in law did almost the same thing, fortunately the managed to chemical remove his ability to do it again. Some can be honest and sweet and will never do anything, but those other ones can do some terrible things. You did the right thing. Never second guess yourself.
Story 1. I am a health care professional and she responded in the correct way. Charlie was very aware of his actions being wrong that’s why he lied about it. If he would not have had severe consequences for those actions he would have repeated the actions until he was finally held responsible

There's so a ton of content to think about and process in these stories, which is why I love them, but right now I'm really hung up on how TF purple hair dye could cost $700. I'm going to assume she also got her haircut but even so, how would it cost $700? Was the dye created with strands of unicorn hair & gold dust that was blessed by a Tibetan monk in the Himalayas under a solar eclipse?
Cosmetologist here: $700 is _not_ just a color, not even a cut and color. That's extensions and/or a weave, very long tracks to process at length, a difficult color technique (Baliage, maybe), and probably some kind of deep conditioning as well as a styling. The stylist probably spent all day on that one client (Which is another factor in the cost, if one client is going to take up the time you could be taking multiple clients, they better at least not lose them a ton of money at the same time).
The better (More experienced, more reputable, more skilled) the stylist, the more valuable their time, the more they charge.

Your pride is never important enough to try to "get back" at an aggressive driver. They will not learn a lesson, think twice next time, or think any better of you -- but they might just be unhinged enough to stalk or hurt you, or might have nothing to lose --- and that's even worse. We'll all listen when you complain about a driver doing this or that to you on the road -- we've been there. We get it. But we want you to live to do the complaining. Give aggressive drivers a wide berth, and just try to be elsewhere if they keep trying to engage you. Nothing is worth the "worst possible outcome."
