I have a LaLanne juicer, it works well. Quiet operation. Biggest job is cleaning it after. Key to this one is to not use a tool or tighten down the grinding wheel on the strainer more than just barely snug, the plastic spindle it screws onto will break off.

I've juiced successfully for many years after my father got prostrate cancer. I saw the direct effects of juicing broccoli and cauliflower to slow down his cancer progression. He lived a full year (until 90), which was a year longer than his cancer diagnosis of just two weeks with blood dripping from his lungs. People can criticize all they want, but if the quackery part of juicing is removed, it's a legitimate therapy.

I looked it up, the Norwalk juicer dates back to 1934 and worked on a different principle. They were very expensive and mostly used by hospitals and health spas. The centrifugal juicer was patented in 1937 and was first produced in the early forties. So Gerson and Kordich were early adopters. These centrifugal juicers worked on the same principle as today's but did not eject the pulp, when you were done juicing you had to remove the pulp by hand. Same as the Acme juicer.
