    I was a diver , I wanted a knife that was sharp and cheaper so I wouldn’t mind taking it in salt water and possibly lose it , bought a mora , I was definitely impressed, I got two SS and Carbon , blued the carbon w/vinegar, keep in in my everyday carry backpack, just in case I need a sharp knife

    Outstanding knife. I bought this knife (in 'military green') because the high carbon blade is better at throwing sparks. Unfortunately, even in CO doing really limited work with food prep and giving it a rinse and dry, it started to show corrosion. If I had oil with me all that time that'd be fine, but it isn't something I want to deal with so I returned it in favor of the 546 Craftline S Pro with the stainless blade. The advantages (for about $4 more) is that you get the corrosion resistance PLUS a rubber over plastic grip for portions of the handle which radically improve grip. Mine looks just like the one you had, with the blue insert on the black handle.
    Absolutely spectacular, and they'll make nice inexpensive but incredibly useful (and appreciated) gifts for friends.

    I didn't understand what all the fuss was about this knife until I bought one. I was pleasantly surprised by its razor sharp edge. All other cheap knives I bought couldn't cut butter so to have an even cheaper knife I could shave hair with was mind-blowing. This knife would be perfect for bush-craft and would make an excellent skinning knife for hunters

    I've had more mora knives than I remember (being swedish with family from around where it's made kinda helps). Being me I of course have a pink one, that Mora made some years back. Use it as a cheap everyday knife. A perfect backpack knife that's easy to see, being pink.

      Nope. This is a well regarded, OLD company. This knife was designed for craftsman and construction workers who demand a lot from their gear. I own a bunch of knives, to include the stainless version of this (Craftline S Pro 546) which are MUCH more expensive. This is one of the best knives I own. The price reflects production costs and numbers, not quality. In fact, the reason it has been made for so long is because it's such a high quality knife.

  • @andrewg7878
    @andrewg7878 Před rokem +2

    I work in a garden center and carry a mora as my primary knife. Everything is right about it, including the price and weight. SS version to prevent rust because I often work in wet conditions so that helps. And it sharpens up easily. Cutting cordage, some wood, sticks, small branches, pruning, root cutter, digging up weeds. If I lost it I would easily just replace it with another copy. The sheath also doesn't rattle, Which is nice.

    As a Swede mora basic in Sweden is not marketed to bush crafters or as a outdoor knife. This is the basic carpenter knife. Mora basic is the knife that you use as a wire cutter, opening paint cans, or pound on it with a hammer to use it as chisel. This is the knife that you abuse and destroy. you have it for a month or two and then you buy a new. They cost between 3-5 dollars I sweden. It’s not considered a nice knife it’s a carpenter’s tool and not that you bring close to food or with you on hunting trips. This is the knife that you have ten of in a bucket in your shed. But they are still great knifes
    but it is interesting that you guys have such a different view of what type of knife this is.

      @TheGaggenau Před 3 lety +4

      @@MontanaJeff it also believe its how its marketed in different countries. here we have a tradition of using mora at work. almost everyone on a build site from carpenters to electricians use a mora or similar Swedish knives as hultafors or bacho. in sweden mora is also a big oem manufacturer so you can find mora under different names. i believe some knives from bacho are made by mora. But mora is a brand that is very tightly connected to swedish culture its almost that mora is defining swedish the same as ikea and Swedish meatballs, and the first knife you get as a kid is often a mora. and the mora 2000 is the basic knife for the swedish military. Mora has been good to use that to expand their market. the knifes i use for cooking is Mora with the same handle as the their classic models. I think its fantastic that Mora has been enable to make high quality knifes in a small town in sweden in modern times when so much of manufacturing is moved to countries where it is cheaper. a lot of the steel they use is also locally sourced from sandvik about 40 min drive from mora.
