In the first anime, Gluttony is the ultimate proof that, despite what Dante says, Homunculi possess true human qualities. His sadness over Lust is that very proof, and it pushed him so far as to disobey his master's orders. Ironically, it was only when Dante destroyed his mind that he became the monster that we assumed he always was earlier in the anime.
+geckoutube Tbh, both versions of Gluttony are only "evil" because they're on the side of evil. Gluttony is too simple-minded to realize his actions could be construed as "wrong". To quote TV Tropes: "Gluttony is not much eviler than a great white shark. He's just hungry and completely unaware of concepts like morality." Oddly enough, his lack of malice is part of what makes him dangerous, 'cause all the Homunculi have to say is "Eat that person" or "You're allowed to eat all of them" and he'll do it without hesitation.
CJCroen1393: I would argue that he understands eating people hurts them. When Pride decided to go Donner Party on his ass, Gluttony was very clearly afraid of what that meant. He knew being eaten would be bad. So he should be able to understand eating other people should hurt them. Plus we know he feels loss. In both versions he's distraught after lust dies, so he doesn't lack empathy.
Is it weird that I felt bad for Gluttony near the end? I get that he ate people, but Lust's death *broke* the poor guy. Shows how much he cared about her.
Not at all, Gluttony’s humanity is defined by his bond with Lust. To see him depressed like that, is a equal to a kid that lost someone they were close to at a young age.
@POOPIE IS MY MAIN yea but we all knw ppl out there who lost the will to eat and would go hungry till they die. They literally need ppl to feed them by force.

I get the feeling that if they just lied to him about lust they could have gotten him to eat without turning him into such a dangerous creature. She should have never created a situation where she couldn’t control or stop him
I think part of the issue is that Dante is an egomaniac who doesn't see Gluttony as a person. For the latter, she figured that he's just a glorified refinery for the stone, so he doesn't _need_ such things as a "mind" or "friends". For the former, she couldn't fathom, in the slightest, that any of her minions would want to turn against her; she's so self-absorbed that she's all like "Now he'll eat anything! That's part of why I think her death is so satisfying--she has that little moment where she realizes how utterly fucked she is when she's all like "Gluttony sit! Sit boy sit! ... OH GOD HE CAN'T UNDERSTAND ME ANYMORE!"
I think Dante got what she deserved. However there were repercussions later on, where in the movie Conqueror of Shambalha he eventually becomes a Giant hideous monstrosity that eats everything it sees. Still she deserved to die after everything she did.

Donte was prolonging death because of the constant fear of her own mortality and justified what she did as "for the good of humans." The Dwarf couldn't stand how insignificant he was, wanting to be unbound by any limit, and labeled what he did all "for knowledge."
Dunno why Hohenheim and Dante wanted to create the Philosopher Stone in first place (maybe just wanted to do what no one could do before), but when Hohenheim achieved it he used too much energy he was about to die. Dante, no matter what, did everything she could to save his life, then she discovered the Stone could be used to take bodies and delay death. Interesting to point that Dante, at first, didn't doubt saving Hohenheim, and also decided to just seal Greed instead of killing him. One thing that’s never explained in this series is how Gluttony became that massive behemoth in Conqueror of Shamballa. I’d like to think it had something to do with eating Dante, while another part might’ve been from him eating part of the stone. The homunculi in this series didn't really make sense to me. They keep talking about how much they hate humans, yet they work for a human want to become human themselves.
The Homunculi are much more complex than that: they act monstrous on the outside, but are more or less struggling with some deep internal issues (via their sense of humanity). In the manga/brotherhood, they have that general misanthropic attitude towards humans.

@@ticklemedaddy It seems to me that dante was the ring leader. With that said dante clearly didn’t take Into account that they were still dangerous. I guess dante didn’t think this through and was mainly to focused on their goal.
@@friendlyfire2374 Envy was the ring lader of the Homunculi due to his familial connection to Dante, she kept them in check by feeding them lies that she must've thought their loyality was strong enough to survive lobotomization
@@ticklemedaddy Oof been a while since I watched that version of FMA. TBH,I didn’t like this version so much. It just felt so depressing with no endgame. Although I appreciate the message that It gave off. But ed sacrificing himself and leaving his brother was a total kick In the face.
@@friendlyfire2374 I think 03's ending was fine on its own and it didn't need a film that adds practically nothing to the story; and one of the issues I have with CoS is also an issue I have with 03 as a whole, that the Envy reveal came in too late and was ultimately brushed aside in CoS aside from him saying "Our father" when facing Ed again and Hohenheim saying "Hello son, it's been a while" Envy being revealed as Ed's older brother should've had a lasting impact on him as a person, to know you weren't the first child Hohenheim put in through so much pain by being abandoned as it creates an interesting contrast to Ed and Dante; that he was a human boy with a homunculus mother and Envy a homunculus boy with a human mother
I felt bad when Gluttony found out lust died
1:31 He reminds me of Violator from Spawn
Gluttony was very scary in this one
I swear this is the only clip of Dante dying on CZcams. Haven't found another anywhere
This show was so good
Gluttony pre-Dantefication: Cannibal Ziggy.
Gluttony post-Dantefication: Demon Elmer Fudd
I hate how accurate this is
The irony of Dante dying from Gluttony isn’t lost on me.
I used to fear the prospect of someone pulling a Dante on Cookie Monster and make him lose any charm and amiability the way she did with Gluttony.
Me and my friend watching this: poor Gluttony he misses lust
Me being a huge fan of envy:
Envy: *GET YOUR FAT ASS OVER THERE*
Me and and my friend: *ENVY HOW DARE YOU*
I relate to this being a fan of Envy
1:13 この技をラストに使ったら、色欲しか無くなるのかな?💕😍💕
What a poor choice Dante
Envy stopped don't yell at gluttony OK calm down gluttony it's okay
I Feel Bad For Gluttony At The End
this video right here fellas.. it got me into fullmetal alchemist lmao-
This recommended to me on 2021
Well looked like he did find something to eat
i wonder if they more than gluttony he would have his own gluttony troops and he would be the captain of the gluttony troops
:52 starts acting like Brotherhood Envy lol
Sawyer Ramsey The version that doesn't know when to shut up and gets himself killed?
グラトニーって原作ではプライドに賢者の石補給のために食べられ、アニメオリジナル版では理性を消されて食欲の塊にされて……悲惨な目にあってますな。
2018?
Never seen the first one. Just brotherhood.
I watched both ,but i think the brotherhood is the better one :)What do u think guys ?
FMA 2003
2003
2003
2003
Maybe it wasn't a good idea fir her to fuck with Gluttony's homunculus mark to force his hunger.
Episode number pls
Through everything envy was looking out for gluttony when they were together. After lust was killed he tried to help gluttony the only way he could. Tough love since he couldn't bend the knee in front of dante he cared for gluttony really he did he tried to help gluttony harden his heart and be strong in lusts memory
I can't find the scene when gluttony eats envy.... i remember watching this anime quite long ago. Anyone help me with chapter this hapens?
He never ate him though?
Why did Al let gluttony eat him?Why was he just lying there?
Dave23 Dante immobilized him. Hence why he can't move from the transmutation circle she constructed.
Rpool 179 ok but how was he able to move once Ed got impaled
Dave23 Ahh, sorry I can't remember. I need to rewatch it
Rpool 179 oh ok
It was according to Al's plan that's why. He needed to wait for the right moment
I like Lust
he ate her out >:)
New anime with pink dress chick as the main character please.
I wanna say "ew no, she's an evil bitch"...but then, an anime adaptation of Hohenheim and Dante's backstory would be pretty interesting...
CJCroen1393 I always wanted a prequel series of their time before FMA 2003
Dante must've been delicious
I really hated envy all season but when mustang killed him I kinda felt sorry for him
this is a different anime
You should really make more videos like this
I have such a huge crush on Gluttony
So I always chose to believe he ate her before she could do anything and left the elevator.
Is this from the 2003 anime or brotherhood?
2003. Dante isn't in Brotherhood.
