Brandy is the Vocal Bible because of her incredible runs and range. But also because of her ability to stack her vocals in the studio. Her pitch is so perfect that when she stacks her vocals, the tracks sometimes cancel out because they sound so much alike.
I LOVE Brandy and this whole Full Moon album. I remember MTV had a Behind The Scenes special on this video. Directed by Dave Meyers. Known for his vivid imagery and that is literally it...just fantasy, over the top, amazing visuals from his creative mind and collaborations with Brandy as well. He's done videos in the 90s up until now, for Missy, Busta Rhymes & Janet Jackson, J-Lo, etc. This sound and look wasn't new for her, coming off of the success of Never Say Never with Rodney Jerkins and Lashawn Daniels BUT it was like Brandy 2.0! It was the start of another evolution. I loved it and still do. So good seeing you react to this sound and look and the visuals. Full Moon and her vocal layering, production and co-writing is one reason she is considered "A Vocal Bible" by many contemporary R&B singers and producers. Her Never Say Never and Full Moon Albums were studied and listened to and often referenced and imitated by many singers and musicians because it was all so technically clean and brilliantly produced. Her unique tone and vocal choices, runs, vocal stacking and background vocals are almost unmatched in today's R&B, still! There is SO much more Brandy to discover. She has a so much in her repertoire - Pop, Dance, R&B, Soul, and other songs tinged with Gospel, Soul, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Trap, Experimental, etc. Cant wait to see you react to Long Distance, Acapella(Something Is Missing), Missing You (Set It Off Sndtrk), Almost Doesn't Count, Have You Ever, etc. 🤘🏽❤😎
Have you reacted to Borderline yet? Absolute favourite Brandy song. It has a bit of that Jerkins vibe with her incredible vocal stacking. The opening scene is of her in a psych ward. It's based on the start of Lady Sings the Blues (the biopic with Diana Ross as Billie Holiday).
Just wait until you here Full Moon, Apart, It’s Not Worth It and Love Wouldn’t Count Me Out from this album. I think you have already done the masterpiece that is Angel In Disguise.
Yeah this video didn't age well. Aaliyah has a video that is similar in aesthetic. There were a few years in music where technology wasn't quite there yet to imitate futuristic backdrops and such lol 😂. The music is very Darkchild. Always happy to see a Brandy reaction!

Her approach to singing and recording are 2nd to none!
This is a song you have to see her perform live. It’s so good you won’t want to hear the recorded version anymore.
Full Moon is one of the the most important R&B albums ever!

This album is a play and walk away. I love it
