'What About Us?' was released on January 10, 2002 along with a music video directed by Dave Meyers. The song was the lead single from Brandy’s third studio album ‘Full Moon’ and was written by LaShawn Daniels, Kenisha Pratt, Nora Payne, Brandy and Rodney Jerkins; who also handled the production. The song managed to enter the top twenty and the top ten on the majority of the charts it appeared on; peaking at number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

This was the song and video than made me officially STAN Brandy. I loved Brandy growing up as a kid, but THIS song did EVERYTHING for me in middle school.

What about us definitely gets you ready for the sound of the album. Can we, All in Me, I Thought, Apart and the Aaliyah inspired Nobody has to know are the upbeat tracks to look forward to. Then she has slow jams like Nothing, He Is, Like This, When You Touch Me and the Angel in Disguise inspired Its not worth it still have that futuristic vibe to them your gonna love this album!!!

I remember when I watched/heard this video/song back in 2002 on tv, I was 'yesss', I got instantly into it, it was sooo different, edgy and NEW sound, I loved it and then Full moon the song it was... ughhh, so so so good, Brandy reinvented herself that year. I love that era of Bran and those sounds, and being honest... I miss this Brandy :(
