You are right Mike, in the West it is worse as professional. I have see a person who was begging as a tramp on the railway station, go into the washroom and come out in smart clothes and get into his 2yr old Mercedes AMG. I have gone into a cafe and bought a sandwich and cup of coffee for a man sitting outside with a sign saying I'm hungry please help me, when I gave it to him and walked away I saw him throw the sandwich away and put the coffee on the pavement. Never again will I give to them.

Panhandling in my opinion worst here in US than the PI. Here in Los Angeles County a lot of Panhandling. A lot of these Panhandling both men and women are pretty creative about how they ask for money. Some already have a income/job but do it just to get extra money. Another scam. When I and my FIlipina Wife and her relatives were in Manila a little girl kept following us down on of the Blvd's with her hand out asking for pesos until my Sister-in-law told her in Tagalog to leave. She left. My Sister-in-law said the her mother was watching her from a distance very common. Another time in Manila, I was eating in a McDonald's a man was watching me from outside by the window where I was sitting player with a Yoyo. When I left he came up to me like white on rice asking for Pesos and trying to sell me a Yoyo. Good video Mike thank you for sharing.😊

IMO the begging is 10X worse in the Philippines than in the US and I'm in California. I have never had them touch me, pull on my shirt, follow me and not let up in the US. Sure they sit on the curb or whatever but that aren't following me harassing me like in the PI. It's way more aggressive in the PI. I think your away, seeing the worst on TV and assuming it's like that everywhere. It's not. But to be fair having seen food provided to a pack of street kids in the PI I have never seen food torn apart so fast, they really were just hungry!

Kind of broad and generalized but a good topic. You stated that the more touristy areas see more beggars, could you expand on that a little more please? As well could you also offer a few locals opinions on beggars and how they handle them/ view them? edit*(like a part 2)
Additionally what are weapon laws like? I know guns are not allowed except by police, security, military types there, what about pocket knives, how long for blades, any type(butterfly, switchblade,...) restriction? I also have seen videos of people with machetes so are there also exceptions? Could you do a video on Filipino blades, uses, and if they're still carried today?
In Kenya the security have a rungu(roon-goo) which means stick, but with a large nodule at the end(typically it's a root with offshoot). I remember in my preteen years getting lethal with my accuracy and power at throwing. I have also seen on this one guys YT channel the old style blades the Filipinos used for battle and they're wicked.
Thanks for your efforts, hope you got an idea or two!

There are lots of stories and definitely pan handling is a big problem in Toronto. There was one lady who made the news and I’ve seen her very often known as Shaky Lady. He would sit on the busiest corner outside a downtown mall and give the illusion she had uncontrollable shaking, like Parkinson’s disease. At the end of the day she would go off and get in her Mercedes and drive to her apartment. It was estimated that she was making over $100,000 per year. Another case again in Toronto down by the central hub for trains and transit there was a young guy sitting on the corner asking for change and one of his pan handler friends came around to ask how he was making about. I heard it myself. The one kid sitting on the ground said to his friend that he’s made more than $150 in the last two hours. And some of these pan handlers have cell phones and don’t live too bad.

Begging has an organized crime element. I live in a big US city where a van drops off the beggars in the morning before rush hour traffic starts and then pick them up after rush hour traffic ends in the afternoon. There is usually a fast food chain nearby where they would hangout in between. Good luck if you are another beggar trying to beg in the proximity as they will drive you out.

Don’t know anything about the US begging but in the Philippines it is most common in the large cities like Cebu and Manila. Very aggressive children that bang on the taxi windows and follow in the congested traffic and women holding babies outside the entrances to restaurants hassling those trying to enter or leave. I have become hard and ignor them as I know many are the workhorses of organised crime groups. In the nineties I experienced the same thing in Russia, the Cigarny or Gipsies did the same thing. Once I gave food which the girl took and immediately walked around trying to sell. All just want cash which they are forced to pass on to the crime bosses.

Panhandling and begging are rampant in the Metro Manila, Antipolo and surrounding areas. I encountered a band of the ‘professional’ beggars in Antipolo, back in January. Mostly it’s kids and women begging around the supermarkets and malls.
I see the beggars at street corners, in the U.S., but they’re too lazy to be aggressive. 🤪 😂🤣 And most of those are too stoned, or drunk, to do much.
In the P.I., I just give them a stern look and shake my head, no! Most of the time it works. But I do see more in the areas I mentioned, compared to the U.S.

I really think it all depends on where you live in America. You will find some states do not put up with it, other states like California not only do you put up with it but I feel they encourage it Where I live for example in Florida in the one year I have been back here, there is just one lady on the same corner holding a sign and that is it. I do understand in parts of America it is a lot different than the rural area I live in. I found the panhandlers in Dumaguete very aggressive there was one who was always follow me into the dentist office right across from immigration I can't remember her name very good dentist even the receptionist would yell at her to get out and she would not. Then she would curse at me in English so I could understand it lots of F words. LOL that was her spot she would also beg on Sunday in front of the 7-Eleven in Valencia the same lady

I can only speak of my experience, I've never begged but I did take a hand out from from a company when I had 3 kids, which in the 1980s it costed almost $190,000, and I'm sure it's higher now, a year to raise a child and I had 3😟at times I worked 3 jobs to make it and give my family most everything they needed. I feel that they just gave up and are lazy

Hands are out all over in The Philippines and if you're going to live there, you're going to have to get used to it. It's that simple. It's basically like that everywhere in the third world. And the USA is in the process of turning into the third world.

The begging is only in the big cities I live near Baltimore Maryland and I never go into the city .So I know washing windshields was a big thing there but to tell the truth, I never see any begging in the small towns in Maryland Just the big city! It seems where you live they are all over the place I think from what I have seen on these videos there is way more begging in the Philippines but they really just want to eat not so much here they just want to party!

All depends where you live in the U.S. I live in a city of about 60,000 people and I see NONE. I just returned from the Philippines and it was almost everywhere. I tend to help but learned my lesson on giving ANY change to kids. I have a BIG heart but it wears you down with the begging in the Philippines. In one area I couldn't even drink a bottle of soda without some kid wanting a drink from my bottle. Sorry Mike, but you got this one wrong. Unless you live in one of the USA's woke big cities, begging is NOT common.

In my opinion it is absolutely no contest, begging is much worse in the US. Maybe it's because I'm from California but as far as the amount of beggers it's no contest. The difference is in the Philippines it's mainly little kids and in the US it's prime working age adults(20-50 yr olds)
