It’s funny I hear this often, meanwhile farms offer jobs as fruit pickers, yeah maybe the job isn’t lucrative in a ventilated building but it’s a job that will pay.Yeah the salary may not be a lot but it’s something. That’s an extreme but there’s still fast food/retail service if one is that desperate. For some strange reason I’ve found people have this sort of pride of being worth too much to take a low paying job even when they have no money, no savings, nothing. It’s quite silly honestly.
I had to wiggle my bf to get a job, and he waited on it for so long until I pressured him because he needed a push. Now he has one and is looking for more and I’m quite proud. This egoism, this “I’m to good for doing x work” is so strange. I’m grateful for anything! Even if it’s hard labor!

Plus can you imagine David or anyone at 49 getting on their knees bent over to pick strawberries. I actually did a lot of work with my church to improve the harsh conditions on farms. It is a little known source of child labor because most peoples spines and knees just dont function that well for tht long especially in the harsh conditions on most big farms. This is why mostly undocumented immigrants work on farms.Its not about pride but rather most adults past a certain age simply physically cant do the work hence children being hired. Im all for work. I worked 4 jobs during undergrad. I cleaned hotel rooms, I busted my ass flipping burgers in the 100 degree summer heat but there are some jobs I know physically I cant do now. As a nurse practitioner I know I would not have been able to keep up with my nursing job after I was hit by a car. No way I could lift people anymore. But even people who havent been in an accident after 40 the spine just doesnt work like it did as a kid

I also think that some people get very depressed when they don't have a job and it can become a vicious circle. But the point is, whatever you ARE able to do, DO IT! Not saying it's easy for everyone but, start somewhere...a store clerk, security guard, bus driver, etc. If anything, it is honorable and shows perseverance. It's also psychologically better for you. I know there is no magic answer and life is very complicated but people must always try to at least pull their own weight.

also having an kid in an asian family is essentially a must, there really isn't much question surrounding it, especially more traditional families from more rural areas. children are seen as a gift and often are expected as soon as possible after the wedding. annie's dumb for not really thoroughly thinking about david's condition (both age and financials, etc etc), but david HAS misled her in multiple aspects and promised her things he knew he probably could not give (and is not really trying to fulfill).

That's what a real man does for his family. My husband just took a job for 30 days 3 hours away and he said it might be longer. I miss him so much but he is doing what he has to do for his family. We don't have any children yet bc we understand that there are sacrifices we have to take now before we even get to that point.
