- Back in the day, the Homeworld games were some of the best, most ambitious, most unique real time strategy games out there, though the franchise has been lying in the shadows for far too long.
Now, however, after years of anticipation, the series’ 21 year hiatus is about to come to an end with the imminent launch of Homeworld 3. Promising a new, cinematic campaign that will continue the series’ gripping story, significant improvements to its tactical RTS gameplay in more ways than one, major visual and technical improvements to make the experience feel that much more cinematic, and even a new roguelike mode, Homeworld 3 is looking like a promising return to the limelight for the franchise. IV waited nearly thirty years for hw3 but I won't be able to play it due to my massive stroke in 2017 extremely depressing I played one and two competivly 😢

No modules on ships! still looks the same as demo version people saying story is bad and only 8 hrs long , missing most things that make it homeworld narh hard pass 75% off sale at best another game modders have to FIX
I got the collector edition with the model and after 10 hours with the game I could quit and not look back... it just feels like a downgrade from HW1&2 remaster in nearly every way. I hate how busy the levels are. The ships all have to get to point blank to shoot and the coop mode I was most excited for is completely horrible. I'd wait for a deep sale.
Game also has Denuvo and the gameplay is dumbed down compared to the old games. Was really hyped and wanted this to be great, but apart from visuals it's a big step down from the old games in all areas.

No modules on ships! :( Used to love to bring down the engines of a battlecruiser and tear it up slowly...

A lot of new and recent pc players like me where litle when the last game launched. I think it is mostly being announced on the space combat and rts fan base. I found it cause of the Templin institute
yes it is , and also it is very bad, compare to the Home World , the first they made, this one , just a money grab, i have been waiting for it since my early days of gaming, which was back in 1998 the year, so getting this , i did because of reason, 13 hours later i have completed the story campaign , and this game was huge on it story, so wtf. but it is your money but for real, it lilke a huge demo for a price 60€ but i paid 80€ and got even more run over lol . why do they keep killing the Big IP.
Hopefully its good and does well. If RTS games keep failing we might start not getting any at all.

Any game that tries to market itself for $90 with the 'perk' of being able to play 3 days before release should be ashamed of itself.

@@Space_Zippy If I'm paying $90 for a game (which I won't), then I'd expect a $90 experience which is basically unheard of in todays world of gaming. A digital soundtrack and a different ship color and a couple of decals that took one of their artists 10 minutes to do, does not give that value. The only thing paying $90 does is ensure you get to enjoy a subpar gaming experience before any reviews release that could have told you that you would have a subpar gaming experience at best. I'm not gonna tell you how to spend your money, if that seems like an honest to god good value to you, then by all means do it.. But, don't be surprised if you get a very average $30 experience at best. Has the last 10 years of bad gaming shown you nothing?

@Resilience93 consoles have limited and often inferior tech compared to a well built and optimized PC. So when developers make a game for both PC and consoles the dev has to hold back so that consoles can run the game.

You are getting some cosmetics. Whatever bonuses are out there do not fix any of the glaring issues in the game. NONE of the DLC will add to the lackluster story. It’s all cosmetic and Wargames related.
So you are getting most likely different model ships with the same handful of units you got in the campaign of skirmish mode

Sad part is that they literally planning a june dls with new fraction instead of adding it on release, bro why all 20's games are like this, like come on just let me buy FULL GAME not freaking 75% or 60% of the game and then make me by all the dlc for full experience BRUH. But I still got no choice so i bought season pass edition.

#8 is not new in the least. It's been a thing in the Homeworld series
Graphics and sound is great, however: Story reads like fanfic, has Denuvo and will farm your data like crazy (read the game's EULA for giggles...) This is a big skip and dissapointment for me

I’ve never played this series but might check it out. It’s peaked my interest for sure, and thankfully I have been blessed with a PC that will let me play it on RT Ultra without any issues. Only thing really stopping me from trying is that I have a four month old so my time is tied.
I have a 7 year old and a 6 month old. You might not get to play when you want, but you will have time. Mine is usually from 9-10pm. That’s about all I get, but it’s better than nothing! Good luck!
no issue with the time , the story gameplay is about 10 hour mark so , you can have 10 days or 13 , 1 hour a day . or find better things to do in life , it not worth the money or even your time, just got it and waiting for it since the first Home World ever, now , i wish, i never had gotten this , they f it up. yet another classic they killed . but hey that me .
No Hyperspace during missions
No subsystem targeting, or subsystems at all
No shield emitters
No cloaking fields
No dedicated boarding ships
No story driven research unlocks (they are random, 1/mission)
Formations reset to default randomly
Battlecruisers have terrible shot angles
Mine ships dont have re sizable areas (unless you are using the terrible WALL pattern)

07:55 | I don't get why they put the RTX 2060 as the low end entry for playing with ray tracing; its not even more powerful than the GTX 1080 TI which was positioned as the Recommended option at 1080p without ray tracing. Should have been the RTX 2070 or RTX 3060 to get decent game play with ray tracing on 1080p. Granted, this isn't a first person shooter so maybe they are on to something.

it's $60, $80, and $90 depending on what 'edition' you get... All not worth it.
On Epic you get lower prices sometimes depending where you live. For me in PR is also $30 on Epic, so im buying there.

you don`t missing out in this one , just a few 10 hours gameplay story mode and rest is just like other rts game, shit, weak story but great grafik sound music, but the feel is gone , i also have waited for it since the first one , i had to safe up and pay for the Home World cost like 20£ back in the day, hard copy, but now just paid 80£ for the pack , but was it woth it , not for me, the IP is like most other classic titans IP, just a large demo and bad ai and pathing is just bad, UI f you up and grouping is a mess, so no matter what you have in your fleet, just a blop you are moving around since now you can not group them in a meaningful way, so no you are better just to remember the classic,,,,, they total forgot this IP is strong due to it story and races , old forgotten relic you could find though out the space, i really hope your healt is better and you enjoy life the way you can, but getting this, only if you are like me a total fan of the IP, but i can not recommend it, and people talk about the modding it, for me it just a total failur to have this IP modded . it not ment to be modded , it had it all and could if they have more head than ass in their head, a truely great game. TITAN. it all gone . best regards and wish you the best life .

Played through the whole campaign last night, didn't watch any reviews and all I can say is the story is fucking disappointing.

the demo sucked
i hope the 2 extra months they have taken will make the main game and skirmish mode good-enough but that entire "tiny-sub- co-op vs ponderous waves of full-squadrons" mode they put all the DLC time and demo-content into is likely unsalvageable.
i didn't have the control issues others had (tho you had to pick between camera movement and hot-keys for some reason), the "abilities" should have been auto-cast they were such micro level nonsense and the soundscape/UI were so bad that you could loose half your units in seconds to enemy squadrons spawning out of nowhere/stargates and not realise until you spotted the reactor explosions so the enemy Ai is likely to be dog-crap as well (which puts skirmish mode in peril as RTS live or die long-term on their skirmish modes).
Alas this was also a failing of shipbreakers/deserts-of-kharak the devs spent so long re-factoring a "shipbreakers" a VERY promising modernised RTS into a homeworld game that the 6+ months that should have been spent adding in the little things, polishing and re-polishing the skirmish mode to a mirrors shine, or building out the extras within the gameplay were spent elsewhere.
It’s a pity it is on PC only.
not if you own a pc, consoles tend to pull pc games down as they don't have the processing power for a good RTS game.

there are currently a million and one things wrong with this game and I say this as someone who STILL plays HW1/HW2
almost all of your beloved features are gone or reduced to their skeleton form or simply are not working, there is a 40+ minute video you can look up that goes through each of these one by one but quite literally everything you liked about Homeworld is gone, this is not that game
it is a money grab, that's it
notice the review only talks about graphics - there are no tactics, the passives are turned into useless toggle on abilities (remember cloaked bombers that left cloak on attack then recloaked? you will now have to cloak them, attack, manually recloak them and it will only last a few seconds - this is everywhere), there is no fuel, there are no tactics vertical or otherwise, there are no flanking moves, you cannot move attack, you cannot sneak behind a large destroyer with an ion frigate and attack, you point and click, that's it, there are no realistic ballistic, there is no hyperspace, there is no real capital chip combat, there is no collision system (rammingg your big ship into smaller one to explode it and everything around it - not possible), the list is endless.. and graphic wise - most graphics do not mesh with the actual combat, the big explosions are gone, the small fights don't have the same eeriness of nothingness that explodes into chaos, the big ship combat is gone in all but name, it is a 2d space sim game
and that's before the 90 dollar price tag you need to get it on release (read not 3 day early access, on release) - or pay less for a delayed release - there are battle passes and dlcs and denuvo

After beating the campaign in 8 hours and trying the other mods I'm inclined to agree. None of the magic is captured here. The battles are unwatchable because you're always scrambling to click another activate ability that the captain should be doing on his own. I have no idea what the ships look like as a result aside from how they look at a distance. Battle cruisers and destroyers feel like a waste of space.
Enemy just spams missile frigates you have to chase all over the map. Your units won't fire half the time at the enemy and ion frigates have to crawl up their targets ass before firing. Its... terrible.
