You mean 10 dollar gun, sand paper 18 bucks pack of 50 TCP global. Primer goes for 40 bucks a gallon. Then paint is roughly 150, mine was anyways, a gallon. Then another 20 for reducer and activator. Then you got clear coat. Then final sanding and buffing. Unless you go single stage from summit then it 200 for the gallon. No such thing as just a 10 dollar paint job and yes I've used the same hobo freight gun. It will get the job done

@@jook8330 depends on your local shop and if they get they paint. Around where I live they charge 65 dollars an hour for labor and another 65 an hour waiting on supplies. You can do it yourself and if you mess up (like I have) can sand and try again. My first job was working in a body shop. Anybody can do it. Just remember 95% prep only 5% paint. Great paint jobs come mainly from prep work. Get some sheet metal or an old fender from scrap yard and practice. Just follow mixing directions on the paint cans
If the substrate is solid and you are using the same type of paint, you don't have to primer the entire car. Just any repair areas or sand thru areas. But its a good idea to at least have one can of etch primer and one can of primer sealer for a driveway paint job

I did this to my car, using that gun, painted it all just like that, what I paid to make it simple was around 200 bucks, paint, tape, gun, masking paper(some other things I don't remember) but it was Single Stage paint, no primer just sanded (lightly kept the original paint little visible to utilize it as a primer) already had a air compressor and other little things. Don't know why I told this but all i wanted to say is I used a Single stage urethane paint, and it did spray out of the gun, but i couldn't make the gun spray heavier, only lightly. There's a lot of things it could of been, but long story short I painted it and it came out decent for at home diy shit.

@@krodyssey4770 that won't work well. There is no clear top coat. Sanding 3000 grit then polishing only works well if you have a clear coat. It will get rid of orange peel still but the paint will look dull.
Wouldn't look good for more than 3 to 6 months without a clear coat. And the contaminants from not doing it in a spray booth would be a nightmare to remove

As someone who paints cars for a living. I can tell you from first-hand experience. There is a huge difference, between a $10 paint gun, and a $100 paint gun. Not only in quality of finish. But also in, usability. When you're done with the $10 paint gun, just throw it away. It is a one-time use application. A $100 paint gun, will paint hundreds of cars. The quality of your workmanship, is directly relative to the quality of the tooling you use to perform that workmanship. S*** tools, looks like s*** quality.

You have to make sure you have an air compressor an air dryer, 80 grit 220 grit 10,000 grit sandpaper, Bondo and Bondo hardener Bondo applicating card, primer paint, base coat paint, clear coat paint, paint hardener, paint strainers. Remember you get what you pay for.
As a painter this made me extra mad for many reasons and none of them you could guess there is absolutely no way because that paint cost more than $10 you're not covering your car one coat for $10 now if you feel like 150 it's believable even like a hundred just to get a decent actual paint job not just having pain on your car

If you paint a car out in direct sunlight it just drys too fast and you never get a good flow ( or a shiny paint job ) I tried it once when I was a kid, won’t try it again, Now if you use very slow dry thinner, you’ll probably get too many runs or sags,

My grandma painted her Mustang II with a roller. With crappy cars, good paintjob doesn't matter. You just want to stay un-noticed.
