I've had trouble with that style of cheap ebay bob bringing down the CAN network ..... Been looking at the power-probe as an alternative, you might have just helped me make up my mind :)
Hey Dave...2 points of interest 1) Looks like the pins 4&5 are longer as a safety measure (first to make last to break) 2) Question: Are pins 4&5 jumped together internally. On my super cheap rig 4&5 are a common terminal. I am not a fan of this config as its possible the vehicle could have a signal ground adrift but would go unseen when the B.O.B is connected to the DLC...ya with me?
@@davesterl On some DLC BOB's the connector has the standard 16 pins...the Box has 16 4mm test points but the harness itself only has 15 wires. Meaning its not a true breakout with respect to the chassis and signal ground. (They are jumped internally) I think for all practical purposes it not a issue, but in a rare instance...it could be.

You can change the Resistor on pins 6 & 14 for canbus data to make them flash on the Ebay one it's easy & does works I've done it. There is a you tube video showing how. Also my Pico one doesn't have a voltage display on it as well as not accepting shielded bananas.
Yes sam, i was aware of the resistor swap. The pico is the one im referencing as to the shielded connectors. I will maybe do a follow up vid as there has been a few questions. Cheers dave

Hi, nice video,thanks. question, just bought power probe BOB and checked Honda CR-v and Toyota sienna. On both cars warning light is on and LED of pin number one is off(show 0 volts). Checked alldata diagrams(DATA connector) and no any wire going to pin 1. Can you please explain why you have power on pin1.
Nice job Dave, I have the CanDo break out box that shows the voltage like that and has built in breaker. I was going to get the power probe one you showed, but for me I wanted my scope to use with it and the CanDo accepts the shielded banana plugs like the OTC. I got caught with a Citroen on the Autel Dave bent one of the pins and like that had to buy a extension.

Pins 4 and 5 are separate in the BOB, is that what you mean ian?
