    probably the biggest reason they have trouble off road is the 13,000+ lb weight and the fact that they are 10' wide, 10' tall, and 26' long.... they aren't a pickup or a rock crawling buggy, but try to take an over the road kenworth where they will go no problem and it's amazing the capability they have, awesome video, can't wait to pick mine up this spring!

    You might want to put at least a ton of weight in the back. 1 concrete block should do it.
    Don't forget to chain it in so it won't slide around.

    6x6's, but why do they always seem to have difficulty.
    I was on an ocean beach on Long Island in one, we had to "air down" to make it off the beach.
    The instructions are written on the "glove box " door. They have an air compressor as well.

    Contrary to popular belief, You can get stuck in a hummer or a douche and a 1/2 or a 5 ton. Just because they are a military vehicle with huge powerful diesel engines, huge tires, and major ground clearance, does not mean they won't get stock. That's why generally there's a winch on the front of the vehicle.

  • @karlk6860
    @karlk6860 Před 2 lety

    You guys know the limitations with just about ALL US military deuces and 5 tons. First off there are NO HUGE ENGINES IN ANY OF THEM! This Deuce weighs 14,500 pounds and has a 134 HP engine. The 8 series 5 tons all have 250 Cummins in them its the 855 series and they weigh around 17,000 pounds so NO huge engines in any of them! The only branch of the service that had limited slip axles were the Marines and these were very limited production. There is NO such thing as wheel speed to get out of being stuck, you dont have the HP or the gears to pull any significant wheel speed. The NDT tires were designed to work marginally well over many types of surfaces from soft sand to snow, in reality they truly suck on EVERYTHING except a good tar/concrete road, there is a reason they are issued WITH CHAINS! Having duals on the rear is yet another HUGE pain in the ass and will get you stuck again just about in everything! The trucks are great I own and have owned a lot of them but they are just another 6 wheel drive truck and in many ways worse than a lot of others, they are in NO WAY a miracle to off roading or survival!!!!

    • @hummerguy
      @hummerguy Před rokem

      They are pretty good survival vehicles my m35 has been nothing but reliable for me, I wouldn't take it through anything serious until I change out the tires for the super singles and get a winch.

    • @karlk6860
      @karlk6860 Před rokem

      @@hummerguy I can tell that you are smart enough to realize the limitations on the Deuce. I drive mine and people talk like its capable of anything under heaven and impossible to get stuck, my feeling is that its got just enough capabilities to get you in really nice and deep before you get stuck. My truck still has the NDT with duals in the rear and that truly is just about the worst combination possible. I never drive mine in the winter because of salt on our roads but a friend was moving and asked I could help with my Deuce, I said sure and this was in the winter on snowy and icy roads, I dropped the air pressure in the rears down to 25 psi per tire and I still had to lock the front axle in for just about everything. Super singles will make a huge difference there, bigger tires will help your cruising speed but hills are going to be a bit slower. The trucks are great and its always the same story if you maintain them and DONT abuse them they will last a very long time!!
      Have fun!
