    I sold my R6 + R combo today and got the R5. Although it was painful to count my loss in money, I could not resist anymore. As I got into birding and also really wanted 4K/120fps + custom video modes, I bit the bullet and finally upgraded to the R5. So excited about it and can’t wait to get outdoors to take more photos.

    The R5 is an amazing camera, as is the R6. We're so spoiled with the amazing tech!

    Great video Zach. I love the Canon R5 and the ecosystem for the fact that I can shoot all my professional work with only 2 very high quality zoom lenses. That's why I'm not bothered by the "no third party company lenses" thing. I don't plan on owning so much glass. I rather have less and really high quality. And some things I sometimes start taking for granted like the menu system and especially the great screen and EVF... when thinking back to the camera I had before - it's all just so amazing to work with.

      I've brought the whole lens issue up with many detractors. To shoot an event I need 2, maybe 3 lenses. I'll take Canon RF lenses over almost everything out there.

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  Před rokem +1

      Hey, Jonas!! I totally agree! Less and high quality. I've been using basically 3 lenses on wedding days. 24-70 all day, + a 50 in the morning/85 later in the day. It's been working like a dream!!

    Hey Zach, I just hit the purchase button on the R5 upgrading from my Son A7IV. If I was going to buy two lenses for family/lifestyle photography as well as a bit of interior design work, which two would you suggest? Also, I’m from SB too! What a beautiful place to be a professional photographer!

    Man, I switched to the Sony A1 about a year ago... The cheaper glass was the main reason... I'd regretting it, ugh.

      I have not used Sony personally, only had experience through colleagues I've worked with. I know a lot of people love shooting Sony! I have found a kit with the Canon gear that I just love, so will be sticking with Canon. I do think it's good to try different gear to find what works for you, taste, shooting style, work, etc. Thanks for watching :)

    Ok I'm going through a bit of a gear crisis and thought you may be able to help since you've had both Fuji and Canon! Long story short - my first "real" camera was a Canon M50. Loved it, loved the colors, the vivid detail, then it was sadly stolen. So instead of buying another, I chose to buy a Fuji X-S10. I have definitely learned a lot in the past couple years and have really enjoyed the fun JPEG simulations and just the vibe of the camera. However, the autofocus system is starting to actually hurt my feelings and I am constantly disappointed with out of focus "face detect" shots, and just the cumbersome way the entire system works having to click around a single point box with a joystick for every single photo. I feel like I'm missing something, but I don't seem to be.
    With the Canon, I hardly ever even thought about autofocus. I pointed my camera at something - if there was a face, it was going to be in focus. There's a lot I love about Fuji, but their entire autofocus system is a burden. Do you have any words of wisdom or advice? Thank you again!!

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  Před rokem +1

      I moved from Fujifilm because the R6 completely changed the way I shoot. A lot of that has do with the autofocus. It just works. It's reliable and fast. And on top of that the image quality, low light, colors etc make me love the system so much. Even though I loved using the xpro3, especially for personal work, I just missed the Canon system. So it was a pretty easy decision in the end. I think, as always, it depends on what you are shooting and what you want out of your camera. Maybe look at the new R7 or R10 if you want something closer to your M50? Hard to say but I hope this helps!

      I know he has a 70-200 2.8, 50 1.2, 24-70 2.8, and I think the 85 1.2 since he added it in this video.

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  Před rokem +3

       @Dmitri Florez That's right!! When I'm shooting stills on wedding days I'm shooting with 2 cameras all day until dancing. I start with the RF 24-70 2.8 and RF 50 1.2. I change my 50 to the RF 85 1.2 at first look and keep that combo through dancing. Then open dancing I usually just go with 24-70 and flash. I love the primes because they allow me to shoot ambientely all day until I want to change to flash. And the 24-70 is just so versatile, it's great! For video I only use the 24-70 and 70-200 all day. Thanks for watching!!

    It’s about time Canon gave the consumer a choice of rear LCD mechanism. Their arrogance is nauseating, basically it’s their side hinged flippy flappy screen or nothing. Many photographers and filmmakers like this screen, but I bet more hate it…. I hate it, it’s too slow, conspicuous and obtrusive.

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  Před rokem

      Oh interesting to hear another opinion about the screen! I actually really love them. Thanks for watching!
