- Today Geoff & Vicki’s travels take them to the other side of Ireland, starting in Dublin and then going west across country to Tralee. Geoff is very excited to be on a Proper Train and Vicki gets her castle fix in Killarney. But although it’s another beautiful day, they can’t quite shake the blues…
Travelling to all 198 railway stations in Ireland and Northern Ireland
Vicki and Geoff are taking All The Stations international! The duo will embark on a journey to visit all 198 railways stations in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
All The Stations - Ireland will explore the length and breadth of the Iarnród Éireann and Northern Ireland Railways networks. Along the way, Vicki and Geoff will meet the communities connected to the lines, interviewing local people and those who work on the railways, to find out about their experiences of travelling by train.
To The Book - Our book, The Railway Adventures, is published by September Publishing and was released in October 2018. It accompanies our 2017 All The Stations adventure, when we travelled to every single railway station in Great Britain.
It is available here: www.amzn.com/1910463876
It's worth respectfully listing the fifteen stations on the rail network that were renamed after the executed Leaders of 1916 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising.

Thomas Clarke (Dundalk Clark Station)
Con Colbert (Limerick Colbert Station)

Nice. You re-posted my comment from yesterday! Am sure I will love this series.
Perhaps the London Termini should be renamed after some politicians (in advance)
@@MervynPartin I could imagine the disbelief at May Station , Corbyn Station or god forbid Boris Station, wouldn't put it past him though after all we have the Boris Bus and the Boris Bikes.
@@MervynPartin London Churchill station might be nice and respectful, although London Thatcher station might be controversial
Want to go on the premier service from Dublin but aren’t they only every 2 hours?
They should just use this series for the Irish tourism board, because I really want to go and visit watching this.
Please do we'd love to have you!
It's also nice and sunny
Yea, I was thinking this too.
A joyous combination of a brilliantly presented and edited stolen moment of this modern world; and a wistful slice of future memory. Thank you again. One of the best fiver's I've ever spent was the one I gave to support this.
totally agree. I gladly sponsored this time , sadly last time I had a lot of issues with getting my USA bank card to translate through
MOMENT OF THE EPISODE WAS THE LITTLE LIGHTY UP MAP THING
I didn't even realise we had those tbh, I've never been on that service :D cheared me up.
My favourite moment: “have you seen what’s behind you, Geoff?” Geoff: mouth opens wide
That was the nicest "step away from the train, it needs to go now" I've ever seen.
Yay, the daily dose of "All the Stations"!
Fun fact 8:38 Millstreet hosted the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest. At the time it was the largest and most difficult outside broadcast for the national broadcaster RTE at the time, but it worked.
aquasmashau It is also the Eurovision host location with the smallest population, at 1500 people at the time! 1993 was a great Eurovision Song Contest in terms of both songs and production quality.
Another wonderfully sunny day in beautiful Ireland! The lady driver that you saw changing ends at Killarney would have been the lovely Theresa from Tralee. Shame you didn't have time for a quick chat with her while waiting for the up train at Rathmore....she's great craic and very friendly. Maybe you should try and interview some of the other drivers? Great video guys.... keep up the good work and enjoy!
You went to Millstreet! They staged Eurovision there in 1993 😊
Millstreet hosted the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest; with a population at the time of just 1,500 people, it was the smallest host town ever chosen for Eurovision, and indeed was the most remote.
Ulleskelf Though it certainly was a massive success for RTÉ, and the result of that evening paved the way for Riverdance the following year.
I also want to add that I'm pretty sure Barry Kenny and the Iarnród Éireann folks will also be delighted. Nerd alert! There are two loco hauled sets on the network, the Mark iv sets that you traveled on the Dublin Cork line with the blue tint and the Enterprise Rail service between Dublin and Belfast which us coaches made by French manufacturer De Deitrich. Same type of loco hauls both.
iDirectMovies the enterprise is the best train in the whole network
Fun fact about lighty-up maps. Toronto's subway has a similar thing on their trains.
Just binge-watched the first four episodes - the best hour I have spent in a long time. Massively informative and entertaining, and Vicky is still as cute as a button.
Carry on, and have a nice journey!
Man...another train based multi week adventure with your cute and awesome partner.
You two are living the dream, literally
Geoff's reaction to the light up board was the best thing ever!
*Millstreet* Station is the closest station to the Green Glens Equestrian Centre, which held the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest (which was exactly 27 years to the day of me writing this comment) - which is the only Eurovision to be held in Ireland but not in Dublin, instead going for a town which had at the time a population of only 1500, hence the smallest population ever of a ESC host ‘city’. As a result of this event, the station [along with the majority of the facilities in the town] needed to be upgraded - the station previously only had one-platform but during the time had another platform built so more services could stop at the station. Particularly to the benefit of delegations, visitors and RTÉ filming crew.
I see already that my wife and I have to include Ireland and Wales in our next trip to England and Scotland.
Get to Ross Castle do the boat trip to Lord Brandon's Cottage.
Oh my gosh...the music, just gives you goosebumps ✔...this just keeps getting better and better, you both are doing a beautiful job! I'm enjoying this so much! 💕...take really good care!
I did a similar trip back in October! After landing at Dublin (from Boston), I took the bus right to Heuston and boarded the train for Cork. I stayed with relatives in Cork though and rented a car and drove to Killarney, and visited Ross Castle (utterly fascinating), and then strolled around Ross Island (utterly beautiful)! Iarnrod Eireann has a great product and does a pretty good job. My only complaint was that the windows on the train were fairly dirty, which distorted the view of the lovely Irish countryside visible from the train. I am so glad to see you guys went there!
Still fun, but I'm missing the angst of tight timetables and late/cancelled trains of the UK episodes.
Yup, me too
That’s because Barry’s Tea is awesome. Hated tea as a kid but Barry’s changed my mind
Perhaps the blue hue to the glass is to make our almost constant grey skies a bit brighter and blue. It does make the grass look greener.
They used to have the lit up journey tracker on the darts until they broke/the trains were replaced. Also I can't believe you didn't show the burnt out car graveyard/field you can see when passing through Clondalkin. Saw at least 10 the last time I train this route
2:50 Re: Irish explorers. Very good advice for when I go. Thanks! ⭐️😊🇮🇪💚🇨🇦
I'm on a blue train with a blue window
Blue is the colour of all that I wear
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue
Blue are the people here that walk around
Blue like my carriage, it's in and outside
Blue are the words I say and what I think
Blue are the feelings that live inside me
Its all blue blue dabadee dabadie
Great to have Bouncy Vicky on my screen every day, oh and nice to see you again too Geoff.
The peat bog of Mallow.....where they invented the Marshmallow .....(ahem....)
Paul Furey this doesn't have enough likes
Good Video and Commentary Geoff and Vicki!😃.
Hi
Loved the editing joke, laughed out loud!!! That castle was stunning
I was living in Tralee back in 2017 and watching 'All The Stations' UK and now there you are. I and yourselves have somehow come full circle, a great episode.
I'm not exaggerating but these videos take me back to Palin adventures. Truly awesome series.
So little love for my home town of Thurles! (granted theres not much there but its a nice station)
nice for some irish history being told here
You went through Millstreet and failed to mention that it hosted the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest? A shocking omission! :-D
Yes - I was shocked! More so that it is the smallest area to hold the Eurovision, with a population of ~1500 at the time.
You seem so relaxed, as opposed to the rush of all the stations gb. This is great I just can't get enough.
It was an old joke among hitchhikers years ago that Ireland was the impossible dream, because outside of Dublin nobody is in a rush to go anywhere and you probably aren't getting a lift of more than about 5 miles at a time.
There's quite less station for them to explore too. Around 200 stations in 2.5 weeks vs. ~2,600 stations in 6 weeks.
Ohhhh, love this series!
Why does this series seem even more beautifully shot, than the last. Is it : the weather, the countryside, the craic?!?
I recently checked out my Irish ancestral history and it appears I have ancestry from mostly County Cork, Kerry, and Donegal. I also have some from Belfast. Can't wait to see you visit Belfast. Thanks for visiting County Kerry and Cork
sorry to say sham but there are no official railways in Donegal so there's a good chance you won't get to see Donegal at all sadly. hope u enjoy the rest of the place though.
Barry’s tea is the best!
So glad to have you guys back!
Please think of doing an All the Stations in the Netherlands it would be brilliant
Well, maybe the ones outside of de randstad would be nice, but just looking at the ones here....eh, I'd pass on that
Level crossing... Train!!!
Never loose your bubbliness Vicki!
So so good, makes me smile thanks both
Another great episode, keep on going
Another excellent video
Just the video to. Watch. Thanks you two.
Another brilliant dose of All the stations.....Been looking forward all day...
Briliant episode guys
Thanks Geoff and Vicki 👍 Peter W Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks for another gentle railway peregrination through Ireland's stunningly green countryside, albeit with a blue tint! Hope Iarnrod Eireann ask you for permission to use this series to market their railways! It's top drawer!
These videos fill me with a quiet joy.
Geoff and I are similar in our views regarding loco haulage as the superior system.
I much prefer Loco hauled services.
Damn the blue feeling for their editors after this was sent to them
I’m a absolutely loving this series! 😍
Brilliant video and love the backing music
This is a very interesting video thank you.
Love coming home from work and watching these videos! Great way to relax and learn something new as well
Excellent, once again. Heuston was 'Dubin Kingsbridge station, until 1966.
you need to offer this to a tv company its brilliant I love it
Paul Wilson TV is dying though, CZcams is the future.
That might have been true a year ago sadly creators cannot earn enough from some of the excellent work they do. tv would pay them enough of a return possibly to pay for the adventure without these great guys having to go for crowd funding.
Watched...liked...tick.
Love the singing Vicky 😊
I'll be going from Waterford to Tralee over Easter. That will be my second time experiencing the blue hue.
Great memories of a week in Killarney National Park. Yeah Ross Castle
very cool to see you around cork and kerry. mallow is my local station and i know the line to dublin and the line to tralee/killarney super well. glad that you got to see ross castle in the lovely weather!!
Very good nice to have you two back , doing this . Been lucky with the weather this far 👌 cheers
Enjoying your videos, Have friends in Ireland
Geoff is the real rose of tralee
Great video
I made the trip in 1964. The latest trains then were the Cravens stock. It was full of nuns with white wing caps. The boat train on the way back to Rosslare had a buffet car from about 1905.
The musical accompaniments are spot on as always. Also, I am happy to see the both of you enjoying a more relaxed travel pace in Ireland.
Production quality of the videos is brilliant.
👍I like the blue hue trains
Very nice video. It makes me want to take Ireland trains now.
OK, now Geoff is the cutest. :-D
Or is he the quaintst?
Never been is Ireland but now I really want to. Looks a beautiful place to visit.
The moment of the say I'm looking forward to
That Barry's tea needs a toasted special.
Really enjoying the trip around Ireland, hope you're having a good time here. Can't say I use the rail network here, might have to try it a bit more
You filmed this not long before the world fell apart
Entering Cork.. Where all my Mums side of the family is based.. Awesome stuff so far.. Being half Irish and use to visit every year it brings back good memories :)
Colour grading goes from daylight to almost sepia. Sepia suits Vicky's exploring of a castle. Love the use of the built in MacOS sound effects.
Lovely! Do hope you enjoy your travels, even while have to keep to a tight schedule - must say I wasn't keen on the blue hue either! Strange...
Very cool video
Another great video Vicki and Geoff! 😊 The scenery and places in Ireland look beautiful and great history as well. Killarney Station looks a lot like Thurso and Wick in Scotland I thought ⛅🌳🍃🚆😊
Moving map is available on SNCF TGV.
Vicki & Geoff are brilliant, as ever - delighted to see them in Ireland.
The illuminated route map is a handy gadget all right - but there's a reason they don't have them in Britain: they actually have rolling stock that gets used on more than one route - gasp! (Of course, a computer-based system could show ANY route - but that's for the future.
Just one gripe about that map: it shows all the connecting lines EXCEPT Ballybrophy to Nenagh and Limerick. Did IR forget it? Or does it reflect the determination of some to close it?
I'm from just outside charleville but live in charleville town love this series
Can I just say well done to whoever it was that you got to do your intro jingle for All the Stations because if you analyse it closely it does sound a little bit like you might expect a train to sound on the tracks but at the same time is jazzy and lively and modern.
👏👍🤝
Omg you visited Portlaoise, so sad I missed you guys 😪😪
That blue tint mention was telling the editors (and us) that you did not get your white balance wrong.
That's funny, I just finished the last episode and I just found this XD
Nice! Didn't see Farranfore though :( lovely little station in the middle of nowhere (serving a tiny village with only 100 or so residents) in between Killarney and Tralee, but only 10 mins walk from Kerry Airport!! ✈️ Looking forward to your Cork videos!
Ah all my haunts, was in Tralee Thursday too. Hope you've not been to Cork yet, I'll be waving. Don't forget to go to Cobh and the Titanic experience, oh and there's a castle in Blarney.... 😂
Great video but too short! Looking forward to tomorrow's episode 😊
Barry's tea made in Cork Ireland and is Irish. Lyon's tea was Irish but was bought by UK company and is made in UK.
Millstreet.......had an extra platform (don't know if still has) buikt for passengers to the nearby Eurovisoin Song Contest in the 90s...
Yes. The contest was in 1993 and - given that it remains the smallest area / town to hold a Eurovision Song Contest - the whole area had to be redeveloped (so to speak) to accommodate everyone attending.
Great view of Ireland, it brings back a lot of memories of the trip my late partner and I did in 1995 or 96 ( I forget the exact year) He was Irish and his family lived near Newry. The new trains look very comfortable ( though they weren’t bad when we went over) you used to be able to get a good breakfast in the dining cars on nearly all the long distance trains, and there was an excellent restaurant at Houston Station, all run by IR,s own catering section.
Loud noise warning!
MACHICOLATIOOOOONS!
Yes, it was really weird hearing the word not shouted.
All I can say is that the videos are too short and I have to play them twice (thrice maybe) to be satisfied.
Yay! My sponsored station 😃
