In 1972 or '73, a NYC deejay announced that fans could see Bowie off at the pier just before sailing back to England on the Queen Elizabeth II. A few of us went and were shocked that hardly anyone else was there. I was amazed that we were able to stand around with him and talk, and even more amazed that he was warm, friendly, genuine, and humble. Still can't believe it really happened.

A few of us went and were shocked that hardly anyone else was there. I was amazed that we were able to stand around with him and talk, and even more amazed that he was warm, friendly, genuine, and humble. Still can't believe it really happened.

Dang- he was quite the family man. To say, if he had to choose between career and what he and Iman shared there'd be no choice- just melts my heart. I fell in love with David in 1973 watching Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars at the age of 8. He's always done it for me in a kind of profound way.

While I was never a big fan I have watched documentaries on David Bowie and I have the greatest respect for him as a person and a musician. This is so sweet to see. He is sorely missed.
And they STILL can't get right about the man's eyes... they were both blue. He simply had had damage to his pupil so that one pupil stayed dilated which made his eye appear darker...
