How did some of these women put these dresses on, look in a mirror and not shout NO!!!!!! Meghan...well, OK...everybody knows by now that she has no taste, has no sense of what is appropriate for any occasion, and does not have a good body for wearing a lot of the garments to which she is attracted. We are more surprised...astonished, actually...when she does something right because she is so clueless. But what's the excuse for everybody else? How about the designers and stylists? Where's their judgement? Beebs, you seem to nail all of this...but you can't be everywhere at once to prevent these fashion tragedies before the happen, can you?

Loved the shoe comment, but bad shoes aren’t just with the black dresses what about the black shoes with that beige monstrosity, oops sorry dress at the variety awards or with the white trouser suit. Always just something wrong Megans taste is just bad and she doesn’t learn no one knows better than her. Catherine does take advice and looks amazing thats the difference.
the thing with the meg, is that it seems that she has to break at least ONE rule with every outfit. like it's pathological. if it isn't a fashion rule she's breaking, it's a social rule. so even her "good" outfits have something wrong with them.
It’s as if Rachel is still playing Castle Dress Up as she did at age 9. Wearing the crown, cape and commanding every child to obey her orders at every birthday party she attended.

I have observed this pattern as well. My guess is that she does it as a means to exert control, since she's a narc. I think she also does it as a bait for negative attention which ensures that people talk about her and further strengthens her victim narrative.
Fit. Meghan seems to have immense difficulty getting fit right. Sometimes there are other issues as well, but fit is usually a problem.

The "leg veil" style was huge for about 5 minutes and the public said NO! Apparently, so did Catherine.
Megain knew the Queen only liked black for funerals but Megain ignored this many times.
One of the problems with MM is that she refused during her time in RF to follow any protocols. She is to old to be playing rebellious teen.

Catherine looked glorious. As usual.
We felt so sorry for Diana! She was such a brave young woman to go out in front of all those people and to have the wardrobe malfunction because of the poor fit must have been devastating.

Wow, the Meg really did flout the rules of royal dressing. She must have been a trial to those who were appointed to help her. Dark blue that actually looks black, wide boat necks, sleeveless…this shows how hard the Meg worked to avoid the Queen’s wishes for how the Royals were to dress when representing her. What a stupid way to waste one’s energy.

@nancyj621 - for special events, like the Commonwealth services, and christenings, the royal ladies would be given a colour palette. So the meg wore a slurry-coloured dress when the theme for Louis' christening was light blue and cream - she wore bright green when the colour scheme in Westminster Abbey was red, white and blue - and navy when the choice was from spring flower colours when on the balcony. My elderly neighbour thinks she's "brave" and there shouldn't be orders as to what to wear - but we all know she chose her outfits deliberately. In my opinion she did not look "brave" or stylish, or anything but silly!

The "colour code", apart from probably many other reasons, was/is to create a unified picture with some sort of message. Megan wearing her colours was like splashing scrambled eggs or steamed spinach onto a piece of art.

A) she tries too hard to not appear to be trying (much like her acting, which is painful to watch)
B) she’s a sociopath on a vendetta mission so “reading the room” is not possible as she lacks empathy and just wants to be better than Catherine.

I still can't get over the white belted coat disaster she wore for her engagement announcement. The dress was hanging out of it, and the coat hemline was uneven as heck. I looked at it and thought, "Is that the best this woman can do?" Apparently so.
As you know, Beebs, QEII wore strapless gowns quite a bit. That was the thing then. A lady of any age would never have worn a dress with sleeves to an evening event. My mother wore sleeveless gowns with opera gloves. You could get your hands out of the gloves during dinner. Short black dresses are for cocktail parties or the theatre or a funeral. They are not for day, even if you are not a member of the royal family. That woman always gets things wrong and you are always right to point it out!

Not a fan of PD black dress and at the time the press was bad. The fact that it was black and strapless was a big no no. The dress that PC wore is a great example of adapting a dress to fit you position and the event. It was sheer at the bottom but Catherine had the good taste to change that and be respectful by not showing everything .
I'm with you on the designer trend of nightmare boobs - they MUST be stopped . Whatever happened to dressing for the event? It seems that the goal has become to show as much skin as possible no matter what.

Yes, I remember the negative press about Diana's dress at the time. The front was droopy, and she kept pulling on it. She was young, she was shy, and this dress made her look gauche.

I’m a year younger than Diana and that dress was definitely on point for that moment in time, taffeta and ruffles. I also had a formal taffeta dress with ruffles. It was definitely an early 80’s trend. I hope it doesn’t revive, laughing but loved it at the time.

MM loves her shoulders, also not her best feature. The dress looked dark navy to me; the white shoes are used to elongate her leg, I think that MM was thinking. It’s even worse that the dress was black. And the shoes don’t help her. They should have been black.

I didn’t like the white shoes with the black dress either! Looks like she actually cut the collar off that dress too. I loved Beyoncé in that black strapless gown. It accentuated her hour glass figure perfectly. Catherine stuns in anything.

Unfortunately, out of the blazer dresses, I liked the evil one's the most. She actually looked good for once. The rest of them looked extra wide, other than Hailey. I understand that Smegs wore it to the wrong occasion, but I liked it best.

I agree with the boob murdering that some designers do. Breasts are every woman’s uniqueness, don’t mess with them. Was it the actress Olivia? Did you notice that the front has a Mickey Mouse silhouette? Awful. Some dresses are so beautiful, why do some turn into such messes?
I feel like MM changed every single dress to almost show her shoulders, including her wedding dress, even though it is the least flattering neck line on her. As if it was her way of needling the RF but never quite breaking a rule. And bc she never actually showed her shoulders, no one could say anything without being considered nit picking.
I’d bet that someone, somewhere, whom Meghan thought had “important opinions”, told her that her shoulders were beautiful and ever since, she’s felt the need to show off her shoulders. It’s be very boring.
In Look 2, the shoes don’t come off as nude, they come off as white. It was an odd look at the time and gets even weirder over time.
The Emmanuels were terrible dress designers. The black dress looked awful on Di - like she’d been raiding her mother’s wardrobe - and the less said about the wedding dress, the better.
@GradKat - I remember a journalist from another country (sorry, can't remember who she was) commenting in an article that on the day of the royal wedding she had turned on the television to see a young woman in a duvet and a net curtain walking up the aisle. I thought that was harsh, I was feeling sorry for Diana at the time as my intuition had kicked in after the engagement interview. But the dress was, in my opinion, dreadful. It seemed to swamp her - I had imagined that she would have worn something elegant and stunning. The stunning part was how huge and fussy it was!
I was so much disappointed when I saw PD drowned in that puffy merengue. I was the same age Diana was and my heart just bled. The black dress looked as if it was a size too small. I remember a photo showing D getting into the limousine - her boobs were just popping out, she had to clutch the decoltage.
I thought I was the only one who disliked Diana’s wedding dress. It was over the top fussy and wasn’t what a young girl of her age should be wearing. She was swamped by all the ruffles.
I didn't like Diana's dress either. It looked uncomfortable and heavy for her. Not to mention it looked like she was drowning in it, making her appear wider and shorter than she actually is (and Diana is quite tall). I think Diana would have looked better if she wore a dress with a similar design to Catherine's.
Meghan's look in her last dress looks like she forgot the spray tan on her legs.

I believe the boat neck Dior dress was actually navy blue but it was still inappropriately dark for a day event. The facinator, clutch, and shoes should have matched and could have been a complimentary darker color to a lighter dress. I think you're right about the boat neck alteration as a seamstress, the lines seem to me to be off for original construction vs alteration. She just can't wear appropriately fitted clothing with proper foundation garments. She was never given proper instruction growing up with a single dad, refused instruction allegedly once in the BRF, and based on pictorial evidence, continues to have fashion blindness. She probably saw her clothes on Suits as uniform because that didn’t carry over into her off-set life during those seven years either.
I agree that the boat neck Dior dress was actually navy blue, having seen it pictured on the Palace balcony several times over. What I never saw was the nude/whitish grey looking shoes she paired the dress with. What in the world was she thinking??? One usually strives to elongate their look in a cohesive manner. Not her, apparently.
The peculiar thing about SUITS is that the women featured on the show, including the secretaries to a degree, like Meghan, wore expensive, upscale apparel within the law firm, and it fit to a "T". Regardless of her objections, it is clear she has always needed someone to layout her apparel for the day, much like Garanimals.

Diana's first grown up gown was before her wedding dress, she chose her wedding dress designer after the black gown. She was still Lady Diana Spencer. The black velvet off the shoulder was when she danced with John Travolta.

This One's Wife has never met an exaggerated boat neckline that she did not love. I nearly choked on my coffee when she wore a tweed wool coat with an exaggerated boat neckline. From memory both her shoulders were completely exposed.
How happy I am that I missed seeing that monstrosity! But just from your description, I should probably follow Beebs example and go for a recuperative walk.
The issue with the Balmain blazer is it was designed for a slender boyish figure, think 20s flapper.. looks good on supermodels, but as soon as you try to squeeze a butt and boobs into it, it starts looking messy and it widens your whole appearance like a drop waist would
Beebs, so happy to hear your post. I enjoy hearing your excellent observations. They are so on point. Some people have wonderful taste and others need help. Katherine just has a great eye and doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Diana had great taste, too.

I love Kirsten Dunst's dress, I have watched her career ever since she was in Interview with a Vampire and she has turned into a great actor with fabulous fashion sense. I love the Dior it is great. Why couldn't Meggie have worn black shoes with her Dior dress, she has several pairs of black pumps; Dior, Aquazurra, Jimmy Choo and more
At the time Diana caught a lot of grief over that black dress. Royals weren't to wear black other than mourning and OMG!! The pearl clutching over the décolletage, you would have thought she was giving lap dances. But I hear Charles rather liked it.

The Presidents first lady wore a black, long sleeved dress with silver embelishments and I would love to hear what you thought of that particular black dress. Informative and interesting, Beebs, as always! Sofia has developed a sophisticated style that looks beautiful on her, and the severe middle part still works because of her heart shaped, youthful face. I’m not a fan of this severe hair style on the Megs because it ages her by a decade or two and emphasizes her receding hairline. Meg’s blazer dress blew my mind because it looked tailored correctly! Maybe she took it from her Suits wardrobe, because I don’t think proper fitting ever occurred again during her stay with the RF. 😂 Thanks for doing what you do so well! ❤

I think you are right about the neckline of the Dior dress - it's very poorly done and loose compared to the too tight fit of the bodice. MM was revolting (used as a verb) against the Queen and good taste again showing the shoulders as well as black. Every single chance she got she showed her shoulders in the daytime (Trooping the Color AKA the South Park Dress was not to be worn off the shoulder like the Revenge Dress... and how dare I speak of those two items within the same parens)

Could you do a video on how to use pattern correctly, like Princess Katherine's last dress? It seems to be so easy to get overly busy and in the weeds with patterns that modern fashion sticks with safe solid color blocks. Patten fabrics in previous centuries used to be a great indicator of wealth.
