GOVERNER'S AWARDS WORST DRESSED

- This white tie event was full of disappointments & underwhelming gowns! We had not one, but TWO dresses channeling POOL FLOATIES?! Decidedly NOT welcome additions to otherwise sophisticated dresses. You'd be surprised which designer pulled in a win, while we had THREE typically flawless designers with fails! Plus, a dress that took genie pants & Star Trek as inspiration, and even more FRUMP! There were so many outfits ruined by frumpy, dumpy silhouettes. Why?!
Red carpet looks from the Governor's Awards
Luckily there was a sprinkling of 5 star dresses to save the day.
There are timestamps for this video.
Come find me on socials!
Thankyou so much for watching
Have a HAPPY DAY
ILY, BB

Hi Beebs 😊 I’m a 71 yo grandma who loves watching your critiques. Coming from a different generation, many times I think “what were they thinking” and “what would Beebs think?” I just shake my head… there are some beautiful dresses/gowns out there, and even given “it’s art”, some of these looks are so hideous! Someone has to say it! You are very diplomatic ❤ I love your videos ❤
I agree Maggie and very well said. ♥️
Me too🎉
I agree
I agree. What a bunch of ugly dresses.
I’m 64 and often wonder “what were they thinking? You’re only young and pretty once!”
Glenn Close looked like a Jedi.
Lol. Agreed. But her hair and makeup are nice.
They aren't red carpet dresses. They have become 'costumes '
Being that I’m 70yrs old I don’t understand why women want to have their girls hanging out
sick of the full rack expose
Class is timeless.
Agree. Plus I don’t understand why it’s necessary to have half of the body classlessly hanging out or on show, whether it be cut-outs or sheer fabric. A lot of the dresses/gowns I’ve seen while watching Beebs’s videos are also very poorly fitted and they must have cost a fortune to boot! By the way, I’m 66.
It has nothing to do with your age Hun. I'm a lot younger and I also don't understand it.
The exposed breasts cheapen the wearer, age notwithstanding
Shailene Woodley is wearing the green version of Markle's black dress in Jamaica! Shailene wore it the right way for her body
Florence Pugh is that old fashioned GLAMOUR that we all MISS!!! Gorgeous 👏👏
That's my favorite. I'd wear that all day and night if I had it :)
What is going on with the designers. I don’t think shapeless clothes look good on anyone. Once again I agree with your impeccable taste. ❤
I ha no idea what’s happening this year. The stuff that Women are wearing at Award shows are Horrible. No shape, a lot of black dresses. For the money hey pay for these dresses it’s appalling.
Lily Gladstone looks like a Civil War widow in that get-up.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was thinking frontier woman in her 'funeral dress'.
Lol. 😅
Lol😂😂
“Genii pants paired with a Star Trek shirt” LMAO!!!!!!
perfect description!
I laughed out loud at that comment!
The pink one looks like she was playing dress up in Grandma’s old Vegas costumes.
If you mean Emma Stone, that is one ugly outfit. It wouldn't flatter anyone.
After this years awards season I’m feeling nostalgic for classic Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman etc as they always looked glamorous and gave movie star vibes. Love your analysis though.
“Pool doughnut “!! Oh, you made me laugh! Thanks for that, Beebs. As usual, well-considered comments so thank you for that as well.
The white floaties, too. I was hoping you were going to say that!
Shailene's green Carolina harrera look is what Meghan did, or tried to do, in black in Jamaica. And I just realized that the look could look good, in a slightly formal way, if done right.
Love that shade of green.
It seems like this awards season has seen a lot of “non-fashionable fashion.” So many experimental, downright ugly looks. A lot of “structural” misses, and the seeming trend toward boxy or muumuu/kaftan dresses. Everyone likes to be comfortable, but NOT on the red carpet. I did appreciate Niecy Nash and Florence Pugh. Thanks, Beebs! You know your stuff, and you’re honest but not mean-spirited. And YOU’RE looking gorgeous!
Bottom line Beebs, I get nominated for anything, you’re going to be my stylist ❤
I agree with you that the Princess of Wales dresses beautifully. You talk about how other women dress to flatter (or not) their body shape. Doesn’t Catherine have a very long torso? Could you tell us how she accommodates that? Sometimes the front rise of her trousers looks oddly long, but most of the time she looks perfect which indicates what a great job she does.
Glenn Close’s Dior dress looked like a caftan and certainly needed some embellishment such as embroidery in a contrasting color such as silver or gold or bronze.
Exactly, a choker, and a brown/gold sequence clutch. It would've complimented the dress, and made the single draped look very classy.
The trouble is, there are just NO designers anymore.
They are all male designers,.designing for women...😏
Seeing Glenn Close in this video makes me think you should do a video on great looks for the older ladies. It’s easy to look fabulous when you are young but adjusting your style as you age can be difficult.
💯🎯I agree! I’d love to see a Beebs video on women over 60! I wonder what Glenn Close’s stylist was thinking putting her in so much white with her white hair?! I love that she, Jamie Lee Curtis, Helen Mirren and so many others are rocking their grey/white hair, but there needs to be a burst of color somewhere!
At least there weren't any of the giant outsized jackets at this event. It's such a strange look, making people look like children who've been in their parents' dressing up box.
There's a difference between crinkly and creased seven-ways-to-hell!
I’m shocked at Emma Stone’s choice, she dresses beautifully but that dress was a huge misfire.
She does NOT benefit from the center-parted, sleeked-back look
Skirt is terrible - lose the pleat!
god awful
yes, it is so unflattering., The top would've been ok if the skirt was just longer and straight down.
Oh my, that one black dress actually looked like a nuns habit!!!!!
That second one looked like Father Brown.
💯🎯😂😂😂😂❤
You just have to ask yourself if those celebs actually looked in a mirror and thought "Yes, I look my best in this dress" ! Having said that, though, I'd probably have them all looking like Disney Princesses .. lol x
I just realized today why I’m enjoying your fashion videos so much. They remind me of Fashion Police and I loved that show! You can’t match Joan Rivers, of course, but I really miss the honesty of that show and it’s focus on making someone look their best. Thanks!
@lindalumae...That's my thought also. I miss Fashion Police.
RIP Joan. We all miss you so much.
@@martina21953She was a genius at what she did. RIP Joan.
Yes - love FP - starlet or streetwalker
Glenn Close - dress is too big
Greta G - priest's cossack
Angelu - Christmas present
Emma Stone - wrinkled laundry
Rosamund Pike - paper doll
Olivia Mund - toilet paper
......
So agree. I am far from a fashionista but that beautiful black dress…..with the kiddie pool armbands !
The Governor’s Awards used to be awarded during the Oscars but to tighten up the show they moved these to this separate banquet.
Didn’t know that! Thanks!
How many awards do these people need , no wonder it’s called award season , on and on it goes
That was my first reaction 🙄
Good God, how much ass kissing do these people need?
Shailene’s dress looks fabulous and is it not the “successful sister” of the Megs black dress from Jamaica?
The two Dior gowns are horrible. The white one has a t-shirt collar on top of a basic nightgown. The black/white one -- looks like a nun more than anything else.
nuns looked better, more mary poppins vibe for me
Can we for the love of holy follicles, call the time of death for the slicked-back, center part?
Florence Pugh FINALLY doesn't look like a bag lady! Otherwise, my absolute favorite look of the night was Taraji Henson's. She looks like perfection - the dress fit her beautifully, her hair and make-up were spot on, and it's Hollywood glamour.
Florence Pugh not flashing us is a plus.
Loved the green outfit on Shailene Woodley.
Taraji always looks amazing
Self-congratulatory season😮😂😂 So many of these looks were just confusing 🤔🤔
8:32 I’m sorry but it looks like she rolled up in her bed sheets and then jumped in her car to the show 🤣🤣
Gerwig = Prairie Attorney
Hollywood can’t get it right-naked or mumus.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sometimes it feels like they're forced to go out in fugly frocks, like it's part of the show. Otherwise how would one find so many with such bad taste all in one space. 🤷♀
Gerwig looks like a super uptight aunt who showed up to turn her nose up at everyone 😅😅😅
Thought she looked like Mary Poppins🤷🏼♀️
@@kaddyd1815I thought she looked like a priest!
Well, at least she doesn't look vulgar, which is at least (in that company) an achievement.
She looks like a priest
She looks like a suffragette.
Hi Beebs! Love style-watching with you! The commentary is thoughtful, yet spontaneous. You are my fave style-gal.❤ I always learn something new about fashion when l tune in. Some of these looks are stunningly awful... from fabric choices to bustline shapes, to colours, embellishments and hair styles! Argh! There were definitely a few beauts, though. Your suggestions for improvements are wonderfully in-tune and l think a few of these ladies would greatly benefit from your style input! These videos are my favorites of yours. Thanks for all your work on these. Love your make-up today, btw. So pretty! ~Ali (Nova Scotia, Canada) ❤
Another Beeb’s triumph! All of the fails are correct in your assessment of each woman. The few you did like I agree with you the ones that are flattering. You are spot on!
Some of these need The Meg treatment like an iron, different fabric, different styling, less bows or flowers or adding a necklace or hair choice or color of the garment. It’s as if they stopped halfway! The dress would work but the rest of the styling is lost in translation or in the mirror. The stylists on most must have been on vacation OR they didn’t listen to the stylist like MM (if she even has one). The “wrongs” are done halfway. The “rights” are gorgeous. Do these people ever look in a mirror or just listen to the stylist too much instead of saying “that’s too much, not enough or
You are ALWAYS right on in every video on styles and suggestions for improvement!
Q: Are those your ⭐️ reviews? Either way you give us excellence! If I needed a stylist, I’d turn to you for advice! Sounds like most of these women could use your advice!
Great job as always! ❤️
Great Gerwig appears to be full on suffrage look
I loved black, sweetheart neckline, pool floaty dress. Natalie Portman’s was lovely too. Thank you Beebs😊
Actually, the Zimmermann dress is shown on the website as the "doily dress". I suspect she has added even a few more doilies to the dress worn here.
Love always your outlook in fashion. Learn a lot I am 73 years old always love fashion❤
Hi Beebs, your fashion critiques are so informative. I love how you apply your knowledge and keen eye to make styles more interesting by combining your natural ability to articulate how small differences can either make or break an outfit.
That’s the best Florence Pugh has ever looked (although, let’s be honest, almost everything else she’s worn has been disastrous).
Beebs did you hear about the British Vogue / Meghan/ snub ? Juicy.
"We have Shayene Woodley, and it's not so bad." I burst out laughing. Poor Carolina Herrera hasn't had an easy time. Your assessments are spot on and funny! ❤😂❤
7:54 With all those wrinkles I’m wondering if she borrowed this from Harry’s wife.
😂😂😂😂
Just love your content Beeps! Keep em’ coming! ❤❤❤
Wow! Forget the celebrities.....You look amazing! That shirt is fantastic, your hair and makeup.
If the shirt was Green or Navy, I'd award you 100 percent. Good look.
Because Hollywood NEEDS another opportunity to pat each other’s backs. Come on.
Beens your eye make up deserves 4🌟🌟🌟🌟❤️
We’re awards not for sale? Megadragon is missing from worst dress list which means she wasn’t invited!
But it doesn't button high enough
Thank you! 💛
Hi Beebs, haven’t heard anyone mention the moo moo in years 😂😂. I used to wear them every so often.
Not many designs are nice today, although that black top with a straight green would have looked better with maybe a split to knee only.
Thanks again for your impeccable take on those dresses - always done gently and kindly!
One footnote: this year I've noticed that more and more ladies go for the extra-long, triangular, pointed claw-shape on their fingernails - have I been living in a cave and not iced this or is it a 'new trend'? If it's a new 'must-have, then I'm sorry: I hate it! And painting those nails in pastel colours doesn't make them look 'elegant' ... Would love to hear your opinion, Beebs!
Thanks for this. You are always so kind and persuasive in your critiques. ❤
Hi Beebs I’m 62 years old (ugh) and enjoy watching all your videos. I’ve always been interested in fashion and loved buying clothes. I used to invest in my clothes. When I was young I wanted to go to a fashion institute but my guidance counselor poo poo’d the idea and I ended up in secretarial school. I guess it wasn’t bad, I had a good career and plenty of fashion.
Natalie Portman's dress was absolutely perfect!
She has gone Woke
That green Carolina Herrera is what The Meg was supposed to look like but in black. (She just ruined it as per usual).
Julianne Moore should've worn her hair up and hanging earrings.
another great fashion video Beebs- you are killing it lately! Certainly MUCH better than the Grammys disasters, I especially adored Florence Pugh's dress, and as you say, there are some other beautiful ones which just needed a few tweaks here and there. Thank you 😍😍😍
I agreed 1000% with all of your takes ❤❤❤
Beebs, you were absolutely spot on with everything… I can’t really rate them even. You were just right with every comment!! Favorite dresses… Jurnee Smollett (burgundy lace) & Florence Pugh (pink delicate halter). Natalie Portman almost was a win too, but you’re right about the top. So many misses. Worst red carpet yet! Love you Beebs! From Oregon with ♥️ Jessica 🇺🇸♥️🇬🇧
Glen's outfit was very vanilla but I thought her styling was very nice
Loved her hair and makeup!
A chunky necklace would have perfected it
The 1997 St Laurent was so stunning! Simple, elegant and timeless. You're right that a necklace would've polished it off nicely, but I love that dress. I know it's cliché to say but they really don't seem to make dresses like that any more. Nowadays it's like the dresses are made for the designers ego, not for the women wearing them.
Greta Gerwig looked like a school marm from the Prairie. JMHO
Please educate me.
Are these dresses made to order and do the ladies pay for them?
Also do they get a chance to try them on?
And then can the ladies not say “ NO” surely they see themselves in a mirror ?
I as always enjoy your take on dresses.
Hi, these outfits are not made to order, they are customized, they do not pay as they advertise for the designers. Sure, they can say No, but sadly most do not have their own taste..❤
I love your professional assessments!
Oooh, I LOVE your hair today, Beebs! 🤩
I wish mine would ever behave.
To the video: The first one looks like a giant bed blanket I used to "wear" as a kid...😅
Beebs, all I can say is you are so much more Diplomatic than I, and I used to be a diplomat. Let’s be honest these are some of the best of the best designers known in the world and most of these dresses are hideous. Y’all need to go back to the drawing board. I did however watch several of the fashion shows today on the new springs collection and what I saw impressed me. So much more feminine, and so much more wearable than some of the other stuff that has recently come down the runway. Thanks for your Enjoyable and informative podcast. Maggie
I love your channel! I was wondering if you would do a video about everyday fashion. I am always looking for ways to update my look.
Hey Beebs! I always love your red carpets from the awards. This is my take on these weird designs that are not symmetrical like Glenn Close's dress. I'm a design as well...except I'm an interior designer. In my brain, good design follow the same concepts as almost any other design. There are exceptions to any rule, of course, but I'm just more conservative and practical. In architecture, design follow the concept that form follow function. Of course, you can do anything, in interior or fashion or hair etc, but I generally think that following the purpose of any garment should come first. what's it for? warmth, comfort, enhance the figure of the person wearing it? Or is it to create attention, or make a statement. Those are all good reasons, but I may be old fashioned and it does limit ideas, but instead of some bizarre costume, I think most women want to look and feel good. It's possible to actually do both at times, but rarely. I'll opt for looking good anytime like the earlier designa this year by Dior, vs the asymmetry in Glenn Close's gown? Her hair and make-up did look good, however.
Hi Beebs!
Love catching up on styles with you!
I'm glad that you praise Christian Siriano's work. He is very good at making women look beautiful _and_ stylish. I liked him a lot during his appearances on Project Runway. It's great that he is so successful.
I think there were too many awards shows stacked up together for the amount of available fashions.
Julianne Moore’s hair looks like she’s got on yoga pants, not a mirrored floor length gown with cape sleeves.
These people usually have access to designer archives, as well, so there are actually a lot of dresses out there. I think their stylists pull for them, then they say “yea” or “nay,” but it’s on the stylists to get them the looks from the designers.
Blush Pink Peplum! 😊 and the vintage black with sweetheart neckline.
I'm convinced that 95% of designers hate women's bodies. Why does everything look like it's straight out of Hunger Games?
Carrie Mulligan IS experimenting. With variations of a theme. And she looks fantastic.
🌟Hi Beebs🎉 I’ve never noticed you doing the 1-5 star ratings on the outfits before and I love it! 🤩😍
Florence Pugh looked fabulous- beautiful dress.
How does anyone look at some of the awful dresses and say, " Ooh how beautiful, I'll wear that one!" I realize it's different tastes for different people but holy cow! Why can't they see the true ugliness of some dresses?
Glenn Close never met a toga party she didn’t enjoy!
Hey Beebs! Another fantastic video! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ok, I’ve gotta confess here: the very first videos, I watched of yours, however many months ago that was, was bc of the critiques of Hazbeen & MeGain. Those type videos were the ONLY videos I was looking for, then. And, in the beginning, of me watching your videos, I skipped over the ones like this one. I wasn’t interested, and that’s bc I’ve never cared for, what I would call, “girly girl” stuff. I’ve always been athletic, and outdoorsy, and never really cared for the more “foo-foo” side of clothing and make-up. ((I’m pretty sure my husband would like it if I DID care a little bit more 😁))
Any way, I say all of that to tell you that you have TOTALLY won me over, with these type of videos, too! I am learning SO MUCH from you! And, I LOVE it!
Now, I look forward to ALL of your videos! You present them VERY well, that’s coming from an obvious wealth-of-knowledge, and in just the right amount of detail, that doesn’t overwhelm, or push away, a novice, like me, and is easily understood on the why and how to dress the best, for each body type, and for the occasion.
So, THANK YOU VERY MUCH…. from me AND my husband! 😃😃
The creativity/talent in the Hollywood stylist pool has really declined over the last 5-10 years. Stars used to, no kidding, look like goddesses. Today they look like cleaning ladies.
Hi Beebs love the whole show - I’m often surprised that these actors make mistakes when they have so many stylists/advisors at their disposal. I’m currently trying to remodel a dress I bought on a second hand site for a 60th lunch end of March ! It’s the sleeves ! I’ve removed them & have to make shaped armholes for the previously dropped puffed sleeves. I guess I will be scouring CZcams for expert advice! Love your attention to detail. Love your great work 👏🏼❤️🇬🇧
I like Carrie Mulligans dress high I think is a classic style. it’s definitely a few steps up from the rest of the dresses.
Carrie Meers looks like an extra from Hello Dolly!!
These people look like they had the life sucked out of them.
They all very nice🥱so much for Glamour & Elegance!
I love watching the runway shows of new collections from the various fashion houses and it often amazes me why so many celebs turn out dressed like a dog's dinner. There are some fabulous, intriguing, interesting, elegant, and sophisticated designs out there! I watched three runway shows today alone and they were mouthwateringly beautiful. All of the gowns would have looked amazing if only the celebs were not obsessed with the ugIy and ill-fitting.
Beautiful, Beebs! 🤍🤍🤍
As soon as I saw the Florence Pugh I knew you would love it, the peplum and the colour and the cut are excellent
I love your perspective!
It's so hard to believe some of the things these people think are stylish yuck and other are fantastic
Rosamond's skirt having a lighter color at the waist looks like it has an unfortunate bustle in the front.
The poor dear wearing a light yellow sheet is tragic
Hi Beebs. Love your comments. Have you reported on fashion from the Grammys yet? Can't wait for that one.
Coming soon 💛
Real bling adds a lot of zing but it was my understanding that the dazzling necklaces were usually on loan for the event.
Looks like some of the designers just threw some fabric at these women and let it go at that.
The falling-down strapless bodice is everywhere this season. It’s so unflattering because it pulls the bust down with it, who wants to look droopy? I don’t think most women, admiring a dress in the dressing room, realize how much a sleeveless bodice can fall or slip down when they actually move around. Designers do know, but don’t bother to mention it.
