- Hey Guys and Gals!
In this video I share my first time experience with using Google Ads.
I ran my ad campaign for two weeks and had amazing results for the Cost Per Click of just $2.83, but I faced a few struggles with these leads being a mobile detailer which I share with you in this video.
The video that I used for setting up my ad campaign is from @downeymarketing and you can find that video here: • Auto Detailing Google ...

It took me awhile to start turning down those disaster interior details like that. They are a good way to learn and experiment your processes with though. Like your customers mine always just wanted good enough and never a proper job always because of the price. Now that I’ve raised my prices I get cleaner cars and better customers. Love the videos fam 🏁🏁
Love to hear that! I don’t think I’d hate them as much if I knew they were coming, but then again, people that treat their vehicles like that don’t think anything of it! Thank you!
it’s crazy how the people with the dirtiest cars want to pay the least for it to be clean
Try to optimize your Google Ads campaign with negative keywords in the search terms report and adjust the demographics of your ideal client.
1. Identify irrelevant search terms. The first step is to identify the irrelevant search terms that are triggering your ads. You can do this by looking at the search terms report in your Google Ads account. This report will show you all the search terms that have triggered your ads, as well as how many times each term has been triggered and how many clicks it has generated.
2. Add negative keywords. Once you've identified the irrelevant search terms, you can add them as negative keywords to your campaign. Negative keywords are words or phrases that you don't want your ads to show up for. When you add a negative keyword, your ads will not show up for any search queries that contain that keyword.
3. Adjust the demographics of your ideal client. This option allows you to target your ads based on the age, location, and income of your target audience. In other words you can target the higher-end neighborhoods and higher income levels.
Hope This helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
I somehow missed the demographics section and did not realize I could adjust that, I kind of thought it was wild that I thought they didn’t have it. As for the negative keywords, I applied all of that. Thanks so much!
@@DetailWithJess :0 it was in the downer video definitely continue with google ads
finally another girl who does detailing!!! I opened up a detailing business a few months ago and you’re 1 of 2 detailers i know of who aren’t men🙃🙃
Good for you!! What state are you in??
Hey Jess, thank you for sharing your experience with google ads. It was a very helpful video. Look forward to what you experience on FB.
I am glad it was helpful!
Hi Jess. that is a scenario lots of businesses face, not just detailers, when they try to run Google ads themselves. The advice about filtering out the bad jobs in the ads is not that good, you are limited by character count and the ads are responsive so unless you pin an actual description, Google will rotate them. The way to do it properly is to have a landing page that is specific to your ad and set the criteria on there to reduce the number of bad leads. You can also add a form that asks questions that relate to whatever you require to filter leads. If you are sending people to your website then I would do the same regarding the form and content on there. I have run a lead generation and maketing business for a number of years and also provide appointment booking and software solutions for detailers and other service businesses as well as lead gen. Im not sure what your cost per lead was over there but Google ads are a very cost effective way to generate customers for detailing businesses. You just have to know the right way to do them.
Great information Jess, thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Hey Jess, get some Koch Chemie Eulex, it makes sap removal soooooo easy. It's safe on paint and glass. They also make tea which is safe for plastics. You literally just put a little on a microfiber and it wipes right off. Easy money
I saw a lot of comments about Eulex, I am glad to hear the exaggeration on the “soooooo easy”. I will definitely have to give it a try next time something comes up. I had heard about alcohol and a bunch of people were saying lacquer but I was not a fan of using either of those over the entire vehicle.
@@DetailWithJess yeah I was never a fan of the alcohol, or laquer thinner either, I just did a car that had a few really thick blobs of sap on the hood, it literally took about 15 seconds to get it off
Don't even have to watch the video, I can say NO with confidence on Google Ads, the type of clientele and conditions of vehicles is less than desirable
Spot on my friend 🤘🏻 You should probably still watch the video and see the fabulous clients I received 🤣
@@DetailWithJess I did and I was laughing the entire time, only because I have had the same experience 😂
Your wrong old man
Hi, Tony. I'm a mobile detailers in central Texas.. I detail vehicles from my civic. I'm always wanted to do Google ads, but not sure how to do it. I like your video and I appreciate it.
Thanks so much! I linked the video that I watched and followed in the description, it was super helpful!
Hey if you need help with google ads or want someone who can run google ads, then let's connect.
you could write your descriptions of your ads to ward off disaster details so they don't even click to begin with, thus saving you the cost & filtering them out.
This client didn’t think their vehicle was a disaster 🤦🏼♀️
A stronger pre-wash would be able to take off the tree Sap. Good video Jess!
How sad is it that I didn’t know prewashes existed until you commented?! 🤦🏼♀️ This is why I CZcams - ‘cause ya’ll are the best!
Always pass on mold. It’s not worth the health risks.
As for Google Ads, in your demographic settings for your campaign you can select a household income range. That might help.
How did I miss that in the demographics?! Thank you!
These results got me excited to try Google Ads next week. Facebook ads didnt reslly work for me. Not enough urgency from the clients.
You have to *create* the urgency and ask for the sale 😉 FB works wonders for me…Google was iffy, but I’m also no google expert!
For the tree Sap, I've heard that using alcoholic gel hand sanitizer gets it off and a plastic razor.
I heard the same! I have also seen comments of “trade it in” being a better solution 😂 which is what made me nervous of accepting a job COVERED in sap 😟 I have done spots here and there with goo be gone and that works, it’sj just incredibly timely.
Hey Jesse I hope you have best lock next time greetings 🇨🇦
Thank you!
Did your add specify prices? I always make sure the potential clients know that extremely neglected conditions and biohazard cleanup (vomit, blood, mold etc) is quoted separately as add-on.
I do have specific prices for things like that…Ijust need to get better at clarifying it at the time of the detail. What do you do when you show up and they don’t want to pay the extra like in this circumstance?
@DetailWithJess I've actually never had someone not wana pay since the really bad ones usually ask for an in-person estimate but also i do include that disclaimer in any add i post.
I'll need to add that into my site, that's a really good thing to consider
im trying out next door ads right now, not too sure what to expect but they were so cheap and I have gotten clients organically off that app so might be a cheat code
Nice!!
How’d nextdoor ads go
I'm sorry. Your video just motivates me to go for it bc I absolutely love those types of jobs. Every vehicle I've done has always been the same, and it gets boring after a while. I love a challenge. That's how you gain valuable experience. I've been a mobile detailer for 12 years, and I rarely receive jobs like that. You run away from it, I run to it! It must be nice to turn down money. Great video, though
Haha had I charged appropriately I wouldn’t have been so upset. I just didn’t charge or book my time for two of these in one day. But there’s nothing wrong with a good challenge, I’m with you there!
Hey if you need help with google ads or want someone who can run google ads, then let's connect.
What forms of advertising are you doing. Im thinking of starting a detailing service but with a more focus on exterior. I already bough all the supplies I need and also DA Polisher. Im going to start by polishing 3 of my parenrs cars but during that time I want to learn the best ways to advertise
I did run Google ads for 1 weeks but immediately stopped them. My entire business has been referrals without ever having to ask for them and it’s just spiraling like crazy right now…new bookings every day.
@DetailWithJess Thanks I will definitely take that into consideration and am working on a website and a Portfolio of pictures

Great video. Do you promote your business through instagram? If so, how do you have your account set up? As a business or personal? I was told by a few people that depending on your account set up, it affects the algorithm and your post won’t be seen by many.
Thank you! My IG is set up as a business account but I do not use it to market my business - reason being, it’s very difficult, without paying for ads, to target to my local area on Instagram. If I had a product or service that I could market across the country/world, I would 1000% use Instagram. Right now though, I just use my instagram to create my content and I share it there but I’m mainly creating it and marketing it on Facebook. Facebook has been a much larger driver for my business My target market spends a lot more time on Facebook and they’re more likely to refer me on FB versus on IG.
@@DetailWithJess thank you for the reply, I will take that into consideration.
What did you use to create your landing page
I have a website for my business so I just added a landing page there. I used language that spoke to my ideal client but was gave ample opportunity to “call now”. I don’t like beating around the bush too much on landing pages, I like my prospects to take action now, so I used language and CTA’s to do so.
@@DetailWithJess okay thanks I'm not mobile but I do have access to a shop I'm getting a website built
what do you do to make your videos like software etc?
I just use iMovie on my tablet which is as basic and un-fancy as it gets, but it works!
@@DetailWithJess do you just record with your phone?
What was the video you used to set it up
It is linked in the description
Gosh that is rough. That is Stauffer Garage territory. Good for you for standing your ground on the 2nd car.
Thank you!
When you use google ads, I see that it puts a lot of emphasis on the website. If I go through with it, will it also promote my google business page?? Thank you.
From my experience, yes it promotes the Google Business Page but google is all about SEO whether it’s the GBP or your website so SEO is huge.
I can help you with your Google ads won't charge you anything, using the right keywords is important and proper setup
Thank you, I’m actually not running or needing any ads at the moment but I greatly appreciate it!!
What is the information on the way you targeted your ads?
I have no idea at this point, it was so long ago, but I Linked the video that I followed to set my ads up in the description.
Do you do any youtube sponsorships?
No, I don’t have any sponsorships at this moment.
@@DetailWithJess We want to be your first! 🙏 🙏
I just found your channel. Since youre mobile, you just learn how to properly rinseless wash a vehicle. It will save you a ton of time per vehicle, allowing you to service more customers, or just have more family time during the week.
I’m a fan of using the rinseless from time to time. How are you washing the wheels, tires, undercarriage, etc?
Hey there! I have been hearing more and more about rinseless wash and I definitely want to try! I’m going to do some research and watch some videos!! Thanks!
I’m tired of the disaster details too. So much work and they think that $200 is too much. For like 2/4 hrs of work all the chemicals/tools used and labor involved and barely make any profit.
They’re just flat out exhausting! Personally, I just love giving someone a result that actually cares…if your vehicle is that much of a disaster, you probably don’t’ care too much about it.
Facebook Ads > Google Ads
Bullshit. Only if you have followers doesn’t work like that
I personally agree. I rank #1 on the Google Maps search so I don’t focus much on that but when I have run Facebook ads, I have always attracted amazing clients!
@parker4560 you don't need followers when you run paid ads lol.... I run paid ads encouraging people to like the page as well as an ad that is meant for appointment funnel through my website. I've paid for my Facebook ads 100x over with the bookings I've received.
I cant believe anyone could let thier vehicles get that dirty. not even dirty just messy.
It’s wild.
2:57 😂 3:40 🤮
Those first two car's were disgusting.
They still haunt me 🤢
Those disaster details 🤮
I just can’t…I mean, if they were $400+ and you knew it was coming, that’s one thing! Or having a garage is another!
