Love it when clients sell your services for you. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement!
It really is!
Just found your channel, and am really enjoying your honest concise content. Wishing you continued success.
Thank you so much!
I have been detailing for 27 years and I have worked in Car Dealerships and Automotive Bodyshop and I detail on the side on the weekends and a lot of my details are friends and word of mouth
Word of mouth and referrals are gold, aren’t they?! And you get the absolute best customers when you’re surrounded by good people!
@@DetailWithJess you definitely got that right and I do all of my side work at home
@@tucksmith8300Same here. Providing good quality and building relationships with your clients goes a long ways. I don’t even have a website either. Word of mouth is a huge factor in my opinion.
New sub! Whoo hoo! & congrats on your business! I actually own a home & mobile detailing business myself out here in Illinois & there is never an end to learning! I'm watching this for any ideas I've not thought of myself but I also thank you for sharing this!
That is awesome, I love that! Thanks so much for hanging out here with me!
Honestly I know you just started but I feel even in your video you explain every thing very well I appreciate your tips and I will start to implement them where possible Hopefully I can give you an update thank you for the and direction to help grow my business your awesome!!!
I’m so glad they are helpful!
Great video , I’ve been on my detailing journey for 2 years now.
Love that!
CONGRATS on getting 500 plus Subscribers Jess! I subscribe to your channel yesterday. I too am a new mobile detailing entrepreneur.
i'm in the process of quitting my full time job and focus more on my mobile detailing business.
One of my ways of getting potential clients/customers, I attend legitimate car shows.
Like "Coffee and Cars", and Car meets.
You can look those up at your local area.
Wish you the best and business growth success and thank you for sharing.
That is awesome!! Congrats! Leaving my job in July was the best move ever. Not every day has been easy BUT it’s those challenging days that make you grow. Love that, we do have a lot of local car shows here. I’m thankful to be a part of a motocross community where a lot of the guys and their wives reach out to me. It’s so important to have a community though. Keep up the great work!
@@DetailWithJess thank you and I concur !! TOTALLY understand how you feel as a one person operative. It is challenging at time and growing pains 😂
Keep up with the awesome content 👍
I just quit my job on the spot to focus everything on my business. I feel so much more happy & free now. I Just need to get more customers!
Jess great video. I am starting out on my own. I have been detailing for many years and decided its finally time to work for myself instead of someone else making all the profit for my hard work. So much information you have given is just so helpful. Thank you so much for sharing.
So glad to hear that! I have always felt the same - it’s tough to work hard for someone else when you can do it all for yourself! If you ever have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I’d be happy to address!
Thank you, That will be an awesome tool to have your help and support@@DetailWithJess
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow!! What a amazing job on that Tesla!!
Thank you!
Something I've seen (one was put under my wiper blade) was a business card that said something like "I noticed that you have a really clean ride..." and on the back was the detailer's contact info and a discount code. Some "catchy" phrase on one side of the business card and an incentive to take them up on the service was a good idea (at least to me). I enjoy detailing my own vehicles but if I don't have the time or want some service I'm not comfortable doing (like full paint correction) I'd take them up on it. For the price of 500 business cards it's probably not a bad investment.
I love that idea but live in SUCH a small town that I feel so awkward doing it. Maybe I can go a couple towns over and do it though! Thanks for sharing!!
Good idea, until it rains. Those business cards MELT and when the Sun comes back out they dry and stick to windshield. Learned this from a guy that used to put out flyers for events. NOT A GOOD LOOK. He got such a bad reputation from on weekend of the "Perfect Storm" of rain and sun happening that his whole year's revenue took a nosedive.
Just came across your channel..nice content!
Appreciate that, thank you!
Jess, Another fantastic video! Soon you'll be spending your evenings teaching Small Business Courses at a local college. What you are doing is what every small business owner should do. "Data from the BLS shows that approximately 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first 10 years. Only 25% of new businesses make it to 15 years or more."
Thank you Paul!
Welcome back
Thanks!
Hi Jess, great video. Id be interested in how you ce up with your pricing and how you make the set pricing work & not upcharge for nasty vehicles.
I've been thinking my pricing was too complicated because i have prices for different size vehicles and thay are all "starts at".
I do have set pricing for different size vehicles but I don’t charge any extra for “nasty’ vehicles because, honesty, clean vehicles and dirty vehicles always take me the same time and I rarely come across horrific vehicles with my clientele. It could change in the future though!
Hello Jess.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for offering encouragement to future entrepreneurs.
Do you clean the engine compartment and if so what products do you recommend?
I don’t do engines at this moment in time. It just sounded like there was a lot of risk involved so I didn’t see the point in offering it at this point in time as a newbie!
Congrats on your successful business!
Off topic, any tips for someone who is getting into life insurance business?
I could write a whole novel on that haha but don’t trust what everyone tells you lol It is actually a great business and I did really well in that field until I started getting pressured to buy buy buy more leads and do business in a way that didn’t fit my personal values. Had I stuck to my gut, I’d probably still be doing life insurance, but it killed me emotionally and financially. I have two friends who kill it though, so it’s the real deal, it’s just gotta fit your personality.
I started my career selling Life Insurance to Minister. I ended my career as an EVP for one of the the largest stock-brokerage companies in the US. You never know where that initial step will take you. I sold Life Insurance for 22 months and was 3 months behind in my mortgage when I stopped. I am now a millionaire, but if I had not sold Life Insurances for the 22 months, I doubt my career would have been in the stock-brokerage business and I would have made as much money as I did. Of course, I now have the ability of looking backward.
My tip to you is to don't be afraid of the phone. Call reluctance is the killer of salespeople. The statistic during my era was that only 1:100 ratio of people saying yes to give you an appointment. You you cannot handle that, don't consider life insurance. Be Bold!
Congrats on your first 3 months in Business. As a small business owner I agree with most of you points. out of intrest have you tried any paid advertising?
Thanks so much. Absolutely! I have been studying google ads all week long, but I always end up being booked solid week after week so I just haven’t made that jump. I do plan to use them for the winter though when I am in an area where no one knows me.
Im gonna get some tips from you on how to price details
Have you watched this video yet? How Much Should You Charge To Detail A Car? | Mobile Auto Detailing
czcams.com/video/zR3OSPOnqG4/video.html
@@DetailWithJess oh i didnt know, ok yeah I’ll watch it. Its not every day on youtube you see woman mobile detailers, have you seen Chelsea from Attention 2 Details channel?
What all do you include in your $150 interior exterior? I’m getting started finishing up my online presence. Do you offer any paint correction or polishing? Or spray wax. Love the video, thanks for your feedback
I no longer offer the $150 interior/exterior because I didn’t feel like I couldn’t put out sub-par work, but that package would have included a detailed vacuum and air compression, wipe down of all hard surfaces, windows and cleaning of the floor mats (power washing if rubber mats, vacuum if carpeted) and the exterior was a wash, tires, wheels, wheel wells and a spray wax. My issue was that when I detailed a car, I wanted it to be perfect and a lower end detail wasn’t perfect to me. So I got rid of that package and now my more expensive packages always include trim restoration and a hydrophobic sealant. I am headed to training this week to learn all about polishing, paint correction and ceramic and we’ll see if I choose to add those to my services! Thank you for watching!
@@DetailWithJessso your prices have increased correct? What do you start at now for the works?
Some of us can only start this a side job js, still licensed and insured
I started while working another job as well, but for sure, everyone’s circumstances are different! Gotta do what works for you!
For you $269 interior and exterior what is the process for the exterior? Keep up the great content👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I do a bug and tar removal, tires, wheels and wells, foam wash and/or two bucket hand wash (depends on vehicle dirtiness), spray sealant, hand dry, dress the tires, clean the exterior windows (if needed to ensure streak/water spot free), and dress the tires and restore or protect exterior plastic trim. I think that’s everything!
Without even watching the video yet, being a gorgeous blonde probably helps a lot.. 😅😉💫
Use what ya momma gave ya, right? 😂
@@DetailWithJess haha, yep! I watched a couple of your vids.. I found it fascinating that you opened your business having never even detailed a car before?! How does that work haha?? I have a mobile detail business myself called Kingdom Detail LLC. I'm on facebook but don't have a youtube channel for it yet. Blessings on your new adventure!
did you literally just start detailing this year? or you had prior experience?
Literally had never detailed a vehicle in my life until I my got first job in May!!
Didn’t even know what detailing was when my husband mentioned getting into it in February lol
@@DetailWithJess wow! ive also just gotten into detailing this year but things have really been slow and testing, ive completely started from scratch on a really tight budget, not even mobile, its pretty stressfull but after watching your videos/story its really got me going! keep it up im watching👀📊
Hi
Hi
Hey nice to meet you.. What state is we're you do business?
How is business these days?
Hey there! Business is good! Had a great time in FL and Just starting the 2024 season back up!! Thanks for asking!
No offense for $150 / a pee....you shorted yourself....know your worth.....but I also get it.....word of mouth....but remember Google if you get good reviews will automatically bump you to the top....js!!!! Great job!!!!!! Congrats
Google is all you need ....for the mass stop promoting the platforms that kill our community......js
Thank you!
I hope you charge more in the near future.
Me too haha I’ll get there. It’s wild how some people think I’m too expensive, some people think I undercharge by a ton and some people think it’s just right. But I’ll get there 😉 What do you or would you charge for a full interior and exterior detail?
2 things I noticed within the first 5 mins.
It's much, much, much easier when u have money to start out with. Not everyone has that.
2. Being a cute, little blonde I'm sure helps out ALOT also.
Nevertheless, good job
Thank you! I don’t necessarily disagree and am totally understanding of everyone’s different life circumstances. But the business was pretty reasonable to start, cost-wise. I broke down the entire cost in this video: My Complete Mobile Detailing Setup and Cost - Mobile Detailing Business
czcams.com/video/skvOjG5_iYs/video.html. And I traded in my car for the van, so this is my every day driver to avoid additional car payments. Business credit is also super helpful in getting started where you have the ability to put your startup costs on credit and pay it back in your first month or two. Hope that helps you or others! :) As far as my face, I actually don’t share my face on any of my websites, marketing and rarely in any of my videos…I always wonder if people are surprised when they find out I’m a female when I show up lol But as far as CZcams goes, it probably helps in this niche of youtube but I can’t change who I am haha
Agree, she has an unfair advantage of being actually good and professional af while being a total babe. If she learns to use that to her advantage she will blow up in less than a year.
