Even the most modern BMWs are missing active displays for a number of gauges, like oil temps, exhaust temps, engine timing and more. It makes it harder to monitor on track days, or just a fun day on a great stretch of road.

First off, thank you for these videos. I appreciate that they actually go in depth and don’t gloss over important install information like so many other install guides.
I just installed this on my car. This was by far the most annoying mod I’ve ever done, which was a bit surprising. There was no way for me to assemble the vent pieces and display together and then install them on the vent, I had to install them one by one. It would’ve been helpful to go more in depth on the reassembly part because it’s incredibly finicky. Also, running the cabling itself was a pain given how little space you have to work with.
I also couldn’t get the metal spring clip or the holder clip to stay at all. I installed the gauge without either clip and everything is surprisingly sturdy, so I got lucky there. Do you have any guides on installing the OB2 splitter that P3 sells as well?

Nicely done. I’ll be installing mine shortly. Others have zip tied the control box to a metal bracket so it doesn’t bounce around behind the vent. Did you experience any rattles/noises with the control box or did you zip tie it too?
No rattles, works great!
Been thinking of one of these. But can I have my MHD enet plugged in as well?
So both yes and no to your question. As is, the plug for this is single and will be solo in the OBD port, so no both can't be plugged in as is. That said, I have run with an adapter before, so I could have TWO things plugged in to the ODB port before. I did notice though (in my F32) that if I had TWO active devices on the port at the same time, there could be some interference. I have also seen another example (different car and devices) where two reading passively at the same time had zero issues.
So you CAN run two with an adapter, but test to make sure they dont mess with each other.

It does yes.
Installed one using the OBD2 port on my 2019 330 and my alarm keeps going off when I lock my car. Is there any fix for this?
Woah.. cant say I have heard of that before, and only happens if this is plugged in and you lock the car? I would contact P3 for sure and see what they say.
I came looking for this issue and see if anyone mentioned it. It seems that the g20s have an OBD alarm. I've seen it in coding before but I did not want to disable it. I reached out to P3 to see if they say anything.

@@jonathanc4425 yeah. I think I will have to do the same. Have you had any issues with battery drain when the car sitting for say a week or so?
@@theonlyjkyang nope, everything works perfectly fine. Never any issues with the battery and I’ve had it disable for about 5months
is it oil temp or coolant, on their website says only for coolant temp reading

Vehicle speed (can be calibrated in 1% increments from -9% to +20%)

Exhaust gas temperature
Battery voltage
Programmable shift light
Analog input 1 (brown wire) can allow gauge to read any 0-5 volt linear output sensor
Analog input 2 (blue wire) can allow gauge to read any 0-5 volt linear output sensor
Acceleration timers (0-60mph/0-100mph/60-130mph)
Braking timers (60-0mph/100-0mph)
@@BMWDIYGuy So it will tell you boost through OBD and you don't have to do anything else? I don't think my 2020 m550i has boost sensors so would I need to buy one or would this tell me somehow?
@Santahana I would be shocked it didn't show boost.. I had this in my F32 4 series and F87 M2 and could see boost. Worst case ping P3 to confirm, but I would be amazed if it didnt.
Not easiest way. Just buy the whole assembly with vent.
True.. buying with vent is easier and faster, but more expensive, for sure.
It’s $100 more expensive if you buy one pre-installed to a vent. Had I known how annoying this install was, I probably would’ve gotten the pre-installed one. But it’s all relative.
