I read "a former rocket scientist ", then I see a beautiful young lady frolicking in the mud! Ahh, welcome to the real living young lady! I'm an ex linguist, ex university prof from the UK...over ten years ago I left my rented apartment and well paid job and moved to the mountains in central Europe..now I live off grid, no electricity, not even solar panels, no car, no job, no money...but I grow my food, keep chickens and goats for milk, i make everything in my very small old stone house by hand, i live alone but i don't feel lonely, surrounded by beautiful mountains, trees, animals and of course tons of books. ...I'm learning cob building because I want to build my own cob greenhouse 😊..keep inspiring young lady❤ . That sounds like a fulfilling and connected life!! I'm so happy you followed what called to you. It isn't easy making such a shift! Pleasure to connect with you and thank you so much for your support!!
@turiyapanama I actually have an Adobe brick 'machine' here & always wanted to make some but, it is easier just to make them in a batch & cut them out, i think because the machine is rather complex & only one at a time. I may try it.
Just thinking About the same idea
Do love the way you live
You should have a tv show on diy or hgtv or something. The work you’re doing is incredible and your story is amazing!
That would be so cool!! Thank u 😊
I hope he was paid well... that is a very long, hard day to move Clay mud sand water and mix by hand then pound into floor and make It even. I think it is a great job with or without cracks it adds to the warm, comfy feel of the room. it could be great with or without cracks and all. Something well worth carrying on traditional ways...
Love it!! Thanks for sharing ❤
😘♥️

If you can please make a video of your mud sink in the kitchen 🙏🏽
my great grandmother had an Adobe house in LA
In LA!? Is it still standing? How cool! I haven't seen any traditional architecture in LA besides maybe the missions!
@turiyapanama Some of my family were amongst the first residents when it was known as Pueblo de Los Angeles. Those old adobe's are long gone I'm sure. Apparently, my grandparents aspired to build one for themselves & it never happened, though they did build their own house. I have a lot of roots to that area, though I live further North. I do know some of the early history, it was a nice place with a mixture of Mexicans & 'Americans', the 'gringos' cooperating, inter marrying & building a great city. There were residents there from all over the world after gold was discovered. Up until that time CA was a very isolated quiet place. I'm blabbing on, but that was a very interesting time & place. A wild-west town!
@kabuti2839 this is SO interesting!! My husband was raised there but not born there. Sounds like it was a town of dreamers and cooperation. Not what I expected at all! Natural building is becoming a movement again there (very slowly)!
Do you think one could place tiles on an earthen or lime floor??
Absolutely! You could probably stick them with lime plaster. I would use only unglazed ceramic tile on them so moisture can still escape through the floor tile!
Great work and video, thank you! Do you think one can cover floor tiles we such a beautiful floor? How thick does it have to be at minimum? Cheers! Alex
Hello! You could, i recommend not using adhesive since that will block the humidity transfer in the floor. You can try sticking with lime plaster or even earthen plaster. Use unsealed tiles! The floor should be 10cm minimum to hold the weight of people/furniture
@@turiyapanama Thank you very much!
there is no need for cracks at all, i poured my floor straight on the earth as well, and if you have the right ration from sand to clay, even without straw, no cracks! if your base layer is cracking, because of to much clay parts, then its not a good foundation for the top layer! the bottom layer should be done with lightly wet "roadbase" and propperly compressed each and every 3 cm until you reach a layer of around 10cm, no cracks at all.. finish layer not more then 3cm thick but only 10%clay in the mix, no cracks!;)
and its easy to find out the sand to clay ration in your soil, by putting a sample into a water bottle and shake it for a bit until the clay had time to dissolve in the water, then just leave it standing somewhere not shaking or vibrating and in 24 hours you can see the sand on the bottom and the clay on top, to make out your soil ratio!
Wow! Without straw! That's awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Sure wanted or would like to see the results of the patch shown getting put down after drying, preferably from the exact camera angle (oops there I go getting all bossy😬😐🤐)😏😄!!
My next video will show the results! 😊

all this "we" but you're not even doing any of the hard work in the video.....
I have to take a break from working to film. Pretty difficult to work/film with muddy hands. I don't have a filmographer following me around 🤷♀️
You're definitely new here lol
