My father built our house in lime mortar 70 years ago. Both the plaster and the floor are still good though the outside plaster has peeled of at places. I don't find any masons doing any work on lime mortar. So the repairs have not been done though the house needs it.
How wonderful to hear this. You can contact MLIME for your repairs is you wish
Great malvika
Can you make an video about wireing work&plumbing in this construction
❤
thanks so much for this video ! boosts the confidence to use lime for flooring.
@@farmaanandaa - Was the wax the regular Wax (Mansion Wax Polish thats applied on oxide floors) or bee wax ?
I am in yamunanagar haryana
Thanks from Italy. Can you explain further the use of Stearic acid…. . .? Did I hear right.
I have edited this as I have further understanding of the fats in soap combining with lime during the carbonisation.
From where we can get the material and work done
Hi Manisha, I am a big fan of yours. I have seen almost all your videos. I am planning to construct a house of course eco friendly to my budget. I am taking help from mlime after seeing your lime series. I want to know whether the yellow / blue floors are having patchy look like this grey. Somehow kids are not allowing for this look. if possible could you post photos or videos of coloured floors current look. I would love to have a call with you if possible. Just to get the confidence to go forward the concepts you follow.
Hello, you can book a consultation with Manisha on aanandaa.teachable.com/p/permaculture-consultation
What an amazing job. I wish I could visit India sometime. One question I would like to ask is about hardness of the floor. It looks like 5mm sharp stones are enough to cause damage to the floor. Will a polished lime floor hold up to slippers and stones and dust?
Thank you. Slippers and dust of course. But initial years the floor is still setting, so hard stones or sharp objects can damage it.

Thank you for the series. Do the lime floors have insulation properties ? as cement, stone & tiled floors always stay cold and behave as heat sinks.
Lime floors are very cool in summer. In winter they may be a bit warmer than stone or tiles, but we are not sure. Our floors are 16 deg C in peak of winter without the room being heated.
Thank you for the prompt reply. Summers would be nice then. However, the issue of cold floors is more of a concern in the winter months. May I ask what was the outside floor temp. with respect to the 16degC inside floor?
And what is the peak winter temp. around you?

Really loved the idea, are there ways nowadays to get it dried earlier?
i want to make sustainable house with lime and earth
ok. For lime textured walls there was one layer and for lime polished there are actually four layers? Right? My second question is, when you finished a part of the floor and start building the next part what do you put in between? Or new lime part easily makes a bond with old part?
The floors are partitioned with aluminium strips to allow for expansion contraction. These joints are what separates one part from the other
What about the cost factor? In comparison with marble or tiles for example.
Would be comparable but you'll pay more for labour and less for material
Is anything used to stop moisture rising up through the floor?
@@farmaanandaa thank you for answering my question. You have a beautiful channel & I look forward to seeing more of your posts.
Can polished lime work for outdoor gazebo floors
It can. But these floors can get slippery when wet. So watch out for that
Did he apply linseed oil to the floor to make is shine ? can we use coconut oil instead ?
It's beeswax. You can use coconut oil but keep it to the minimum. Too much oil makes the floor sticky and dull
@@farmaanandaa sealing with what acid ? with beeswax doesn't lose it's antibacterial and breathlessness characteristics of the lime ; than to clean it , can't use hot steamer because of the beeswax. How to popper clean it, other than only water on this surface?
Does walking barefoot on lime floors feel nice and soft like walking on plain earthern floors OR harder like walking on cement ??
