When this song first came out, Josh came to our local county fair and I met him, he signed my phone, still have that sucker on display. My mamaw asked him for a hug to which a cop stepped in and said , "He doesn't have time for that", to which he said "I certainly do have time for that", and stood up and hugged her. Good guy.

It was extremely risky for him to choose a gospel song as his debut single but it paid off. It's powerful message was exactly what people wanted and needed and remains so.

My interpretation of the song is that the train is a metaphor for going to Hell, with the conductor being The Devil. When the train passes over some of the people means that they're willing to try and redeem themselves while the others who disappeared, boarded the train to damnation. The song is about forgiveness and redeeming yourself from your past mistakes.

I will never forget the first time my dad and I came across this music video together when I was a kid and how we not only watched it over and over, my dad surprised me with the cd for my birthday that year! It’s still one of my favorites but Josh Turner’s Your Man, Your Man Reprisal, Would You Go With Me and the CMT Crossroads he did with Randy Travis years before Randy Travis had a stroke from Lyme Disease (I have that disease and Randy Travis’s book is awesome btw!!) are all favorites of mine too! Oh to best them BOTH sing Forever And Ever Amen, Three Wooden Crosses from RT’s extensive repertoire AND have them both do Long Black Train!! Oh it gave me goosebumps and still does!! 🎼🎼 Watching your reaction to Would You Go With Me right after this one, and I just want to say how much I love how you find into all sorts of genres when they’re requested! Seeing you react to Earl Had To Die by The Chicks was how I found you and I’ve been loving your content ever since! ❤️❤️ The patriotic country songs you reacted to around Memorial Day a couple years ago with Riding With Private Malone, Letters From Home, They Made It To Arlington and Angel Flight were some of my VERY favorites I’ve seen you do, but I also really loved your reactions to MercyMe too and your funny reactions to I’ve Been Watching you by Rodney Aitkins and I’m Gonna Miss Her by Brad Paisley! Those were awesome songs to see you react and laugh to! 👍🏻👍🏻 And since you liked some of the more serious Brad Paisley songs too like I Hope I’m At Least Half The Daddy He Didn’t Have To Be and and seemed to really relate to the Christian songs I’ve seen you react to I would HIGHLY recommend Brad Paisley’s and Dolly Patton’s When I Get Where I’m Going!! That one definitely gives me goosebumps and so does BP and Alison Krauss’s Whiskey Lullaby as that is such a sad but hauntingly beautiful song! 🎼🎼

Soldier by Craig Morgan. It is a cover of a song by Gavin Degraw, but I prefer Craig's version more. Great one for a 'Veteran Reacts' reaction.

My later father left the sheet music for me. To remind me to live correctly. Great song

Something you may find interesting: In 2005, CMT (Country Music Television) compiled a list of the 20 Greatest Songs of Faith. This song landed at number 10. It had released 2 years prior, in 2003. For such a new song, breaking into the top 10 was a huge achievement.
I once sang this song for karaoke at an Applebees, and got a standing ovation from the crowd. It's such a deep, powerful song.

The "train" is Hell and the Devil. Josh Turner is a Christian/Husband/Dad first in that order then Country Singer, his songs are all really good and have good messages. He has a whole album I believe of Church Hymns.

I have ridden on that train and I promise when you get off that train and see the Light, your life does improve. Please get off that train if you are on it cause God makes the best driver/conductor you will ever have.

If you listen carefully some of his lines are sung like a train horn.
Especially “Victory in the Lord I say, victory in tha Lord.”
Country is a story sung, is a moral sung. Because you’re more likely not only going to listen to it but to repeat it and share it with others.
This is why country was made, still is, and always will be. God bless my brothers and sisters out there. Be safe but also have fun, God gave us these lives to be lived.
