      That's not the story Toby said live on CMT. What he said was that when he wrote it, he couldn't imagine anyone else singing Willie's part, so his people go ahold of Willie, and Toby told him over the phone about it, so then WIllie asked "What's the song called?" And Toby answered "Whiskey for my men, Beer for my horses" to which WIllie replied "I'll be on the next flight"

    it was called "hanging" it was a sentence passed down by a judge "hanged by the neck until dead" waaay before what those words connotate today, alot of judges back then were referred to as "hanging judges" because they used that punishment frequently. it was used on ALL types of people, which is why history should never be erased, so everyone knows this.

      A family member was lookin into our family tree... They stopped lookin any farther after they found the relative that was strung up in a tree and hung. Sadly because of 1 horse thief they stopped lookin. Generations and generations ago.
      They used to hang horse thieves back then.

    • @truckertriesfarming9792
      @truckertriesfarming9792 Před 3 lety +9

      @@itscrazyal Horses were extremely important. They were the tractor, the sedan, the pick-up truck... and they were not exactly cheap, either. Theft of a horse could very easily cause an entire family to perish. It equated to theft of livelyhood, or theft of life. Theft of life is also known as murder, so hanging a horse thief is appropriate.

    • @truckertriesfarming9792
      @truckertriesfarming9792 Před 3 lety +10

      Hanging is an effective form of execution. It's also efficient, as one hangin' rope can be reused, many times. Personally, I think that it should make a comeback. It should be done in public, and broadcast across the world. It's how we should deal with Pedophiles, Rapists, Murderers, and Unrepentant Theives. The execution should be swift; not put off for years on end. There are no repeat offenders in cemetaries. Stocks were used for petty offenders; this put them on display, for public humiliation. This, too, should make a comeback. As should hard labor; have these mofo's build roads, and clean sewers. Have them build and maintain public buildings. If hard work kills 'em, so be it. They made their life choices, and each choice has a consequence.
      The country would become more civilized, then.

    The phase whiskey for my men and beer for my horse happened during the Civil War at the Franklin Town Inn on the Franklin Town Pike at the turnoff to Wetheredville now known as Dickeyville. When the captain of a patrol rode his horse into the inn up to the bar and ordered Whiskey for his men and beer his horse. While he was inside, one of the wagons coming down the steep incline onto the Pike slipped off the edge of the road and turned over revealing the Confederate Grey Uniform cloth that had been hidden under the load of Union Blue. As a result, the cloth mill at Wetheredville was closed for the duration of the war, and the captain's unusual drink order became well known in both armies.

    We legit had a horse who drank beer. My dad set a can on a fencepost one time. The horse knocked it over a drank it 🤣

    Good reaction the the lighter fun side of country music. Just a reminder to react to Holes in the Floor of Heaven by Steve Warnier. You get so many requests, I wanted to remind you. Also a fair warning, that will be a BYSE reaction from start to finish.
