I honestly hope they do something about the Rollers because they're more meta centralizing to the tire meta compared to how Waluigi and Wiggler were to the character and vehicle metas respectively. Like at least with the old meta we had the Biddy Buggy competing pretty respectably to the Wiggler. With tires, it was and still is just a matter of pick the rollers or be at a noticeable disadvantage.
I don't think the difference is actually that huge. I've switched to Standard Tires for my main set up with the Jet Bike because the Mini Turbo buffs make it the same as it was before pre patch with the Rollers while now having much more Speed
@@BlackKyurem5 Yeah now that I think about it, I think I remember hearing that the Standard Tires, Leaf Tires, and Sponge are starting to see some use after this last patch.
I personally would just like to see a universal buff to every tire's mini turbo stat because it feels like many tires become unusable on 200cc and even some 150cc tracks that have tons of turns.
wheels are hardly noticable (physically) so seeing a full race of rollers noone really cares. where as everyone using the same racer or car is just way more obnoxious and boring. (not disagreeing with you, but just saying the reasoning)
@@thanksgivingh6185 Rollers often change the height of some vehicles to make them more noticeable.
I don't hate the Rollers (namely Azure Rollers I really like, the normal Roller colour scheme isn't for me) but I get why people don't
@@BlackKyurem5 fair enough. 😄 i usually just go with which ones color matches my character/vehicle more. I get the original posters point though about it being lame that they are basically the only option unless your doing some kind of gravity based level time trial i guess.

I just wish the tires werent so tiny. If they were a little bigger that would be better because all combos with them look dumb. (Im talking about the red and azure rollers)
I use toadette, the scooter, normal wheels, and normal glider is that good?
@@jasonhalverson1180 i do believe that toadette recieved a speed buff but it isnt one of the “top” builds. However, it is good enough and also skill is the most important thing anyways.

Seriously, he wasn't even considered as good as some characters who DID receive a buff.
I think this is the cruiserweights' time to shine. Most cruiserweights now are at the very least A tier, and some possibly even S. This is the most varied Mario Kart meta ever, and I'm here for it! It's a breath of fresh air because most games have 1, maybe 2 combos that are meta. Ahem, Mario Kart Wii.
Honestly I feel like the using one of the characters you mentioned (+ the mario/ludwig class) and one of the kart frames you mentioned are all great options. The differences are very small so it's up to the individual player to prioritize surtain stats over others.
Sometimes i use the DS mario set (mario/supersprint/standard glider and wheels) and this set won against half a lobby of rosalina because the speed outspeeds the mini turbo stat
I think it would be really cool if you made some guides on how to drive every single course in this game (when to drift, shortcuts, etc.) Keep up the great work!

To be fair you can branch out in tire variety now compared to previously. It’s possible to not rely on rollers/leaf for most combinations anymore.
I've been loving birdo/inkstriker/rollers. kind of a mix of the first two combos you went over.
I love this game so much and I’m so glad they are updating it, I’m happy we get new things.
After watching your old yt short on King Boo + Teddy Buggy, I had been using it ever since. I loved the cart design and was so happy to learn it had a niche in the meta.
Now fast forward to the new patch and it's the best in the game!? What a treat!!!
Peach was my main so I love that she's viable now. I will say, something I've noticed using the Cat Cruiser/Teddy Buggy is that the hitbox on them is HUGE compared to Wild Wiggler. I've gotten hit by so many more green shells while trailing an item than I ever did before, even when driving straight and not taking a turn.
I’ve been using Luigi + Inkstriker because they felt better to me after starting out with King Boo + Teddy Buggy. Could be the smaller hitbox and even how the kart looks, since I used to play with DK + Standard Bike, so jumping up to the Teddy Buggy is a massive hitbox and visual change, whereas the Inkstriker is still pretty skinny and feels much more like the Wiggler and Standard Bike
Same! I was a peach main and used Teddy Buggy all the time on my Wii U. I just got the MK8 deluxe and realized everyone started doing this combo. Very glad that this happened lol
I love these new metas. And honestly, if there was one that I would choose, it would be daisy with teddy buggy. As of now I do use wario on scooter or daisy in sports bike, but I should give these ones a shot.
Lightweight enthusiast here, and I'm currently using Toad/Streetle/Sponge. Good speed+mt combo for my weight class and amazing traction, which really helps with the influx of so many slippery tracks.
And, like others have said, skill matters more, so even though it's a bit wack, it's possible to win at a decent rate.

As an Inward drift guy, This new balance patch has been awesome, I've been rocking the yoshi bike with Luigi and lemmy and dry bones. It's actually able to hold its own against these combos and I'm having a blast online again.
Mfw the only viable inside drift bike is yoshi bike. We inside drift users do be eating well tho

@@JesseDishner some bikes will have a special bike icon. The hold out drift is gentler, and the hold in drift is steeper, resulting in a high risk high reward drift playstyle
@@SnazzySkelly oh wow interesting. I rarely ride bikes because they cut too far in when I drift, so I end up crashing into walls. I'm usually a metal mario/Mercedes roadster/Mercedes wheels/super glider guy but I'm also not playing that often and my 11 year old son wrecks me and everyone else in the house consistently.
@Jesse Dishner yep, that's why they cut too far in. I also use that metal mario combo too, and sometimes when I feel like playing inside drift I'll use gold mario, yoshi bike and roller tires

Toad did get an MT boost too so he's one of the winners of this patch. Not meta but definitely improved.

I’ve been using Red Yoshi for a long time, not worrying about the stats and the good settings, but now I’m extremely happy now that his stats are one of the best in the game!
Before my main was DK/Roy/Waluigi in Biddy Buggy/Mr Scooty. I tried a bunch of combos and found that Birdo/Yoshi/Peach/Daisy in Biddy Buggy/Mr Scooty is what works best for me now. I also really like Baby Mario/Baby Luigi/Dry Bones on Mr Scooty because I find it really fun riding around in that trying to get all the mini turbos.
yoshi teddybuggy was my combo for years and now its become meta? I love where this game is going. also the dlc tracks seem to get better and better with every wave

Yoshi weight on Biddy Buggy is still pretty good too imo. I think that one has a shot at surprising people; low top speed but really high MT and some of the best handling stats too.
Huge fan of this new meta. That said, is there a reason why Teddy Buggy is used more online than the Cat Cruiser? I assumed it was a Wild Wiggler situation, where an ATV could take tighter lines.
teddy buggy has a smaller hitbox and feels closer to the wiggler

Love the video! I would love to request a video about inside drift bikes, though. Cause like, nobody uses them and I kinda know why, but not really. I personally use the comet and rollers with Birdo, but i wanna *really* know why nobody uses inside drift. Someone just explaining would be cool, too
The stats are not as good but apart from that inside drifting bikes have a couple of disadvantages. One being the drifting itself. It's too rigid, and karts generally can take better lines (unless we're talking Toad's Turnpike).
The other reason is to do with counter hopping for realignment. Inside drift bikes simply cannot really do this. Hope this helps

I mained king boo before, i enjoy birdo in party games, and i love the princess racing suits, so seeing more of all 3 is great news
I've been a Mii main since I started playing the game because I really like the amiibo costumes (especially the Kirby one), and though I don't want to abandon my beloved prancer kart, I might experiment with characters and try out the cat cruiser and teddy buggy again! I had eras for both of those karts, but the teddy had worse acceleration and handling than the wiggler, and the cat cruiser felt too slow, so I'm curious to see how they feel now that the meta has been updated!
Tire: Roller
Glider: Cloud class
1: Daisy/Peach/Yoshi/Birdo Teddy/Cat cart - speed pretty low
2: Luigi/Iggy Ink-Striker - faster, less handling
3: Rosalina/Boo/Link Teddy Buggy/Cat Cruiser - Meta

All I want is a slight buff for some of the more lightweight characters that ARENT the babies (Toadette my main😔) to make them a little more viable, and maybe some balancing so that roller wheels aren’t the end all be All. I love the golden tires but whenever I use them I just think “wow, I wish I had the azure rollers on….”

Yoshi-weight, Teddy, and **GLA tires** is a sneaky good combo that with those tires makes up for that speed difference, and has a HUGE up in invincibility, which feels more relevant than ever
Agreed. If you want Yoshi class with Rosa speed, I think this is the best build for it. It's barely "worse" than the Rosa build, but it has some advantages. The differences are negligible.

Question - why the Inkstriker and not Standard/Duke/300 Roadster?
From my reckoning, they're just better than the Inkstriker because they maintain the same speed and mini turbo as the Inkstriker, but trade points in weight and traction, for the more crucial (I think) acceleration and handling. Edit: they also have more invincibility.
Check it out on the builder - any reason why? The Inkstriker just seems worse and I can't figure out why?
I feel like you are using an weird builder or aren't noticing some stat changes? for example the "maintain the same speed" is actually wrong, here is the exact list of what standard gains/loses compares to inkstriker
Standard loses:
0.25 Air Speed
0.5 Anti-Grav Speed
0.25 Weight
0.25 Anti-Grav Handling
0.25 Traction
Standard Gains:
0.25 Accel
0.25 Ground Handling
0.25 Air Handling
(0.25 Invincibility if using 300 Roadster)
overall the speed loss hurts a pretty decent amount compared to the accel & ground/air handling and while the 300 has higher invincibility its also an decent hitbox increase so its more of an equal-ish win/lose situation, standard is still an pretty good kart overall but i cant see how it would be better then ink in most situations.
i’ve used cat cruiser before the patch so this is great to hear

The DK/scooty/roller combo is hella underrated
It's what I used before the patch and what I still use. I set time trials before the patch that I still have trouble matching with the new meta stuff. DK+Scooty just feels right for me. The new meta feels too floaty, I don't really like it.

the reason why waluigi was the best because he was tied for 10 speed + mini turbo and he had the most mini turbo out of all the characters so it will make sense that yoshi is the best

I have been using straight up Toad with the Pipe Frame and the Offroad or Blue Standard tires. That's my tier 1 build, the buff to top speed was so nice for my lightweight bois.
The luigi death stare combo outperforms the waluigi wiggler in (almost) every stat. This is a good time to be a mario kart fan
Finallt King Boo got some love, I love using him with Streetle and Wild Wiggler and now he is more viable
As a Luigi and Rosalina duo main, this recent patch pleases me. I'm also gonna start using Yoshi more too.
great vid! as a former Scootyist 100% Inkstriker here as it feels so much better to drive than the Teddy. one combo i'd love to see you try is Wario Inkstriker, MT is a bit lacking but speed is a beast. I'm personally testing out Rosa/Roy/Wario with the Inkstriker before settling.
I’m a Rosalina main in every game so for her to be considered the best in the game now is just a bonus to me. I’ll always have fun playing as her 💙⭐️💙⭐️
I always used Link with biddybuggy and rollers out of pure dislike of waluigi with caterpillar so to see my fav char as the new meta makes me so glad, will deffo use Link with the teddy buggy as my main
I've been enjoying Cat Peach, Cat cruiser and azure rollers with the gold glider personally. It feels nice, but could lack in speed
I've been seeing some Yoshi/Birdo biddy buggy in the meta as well, if you're a fan of that I'd love to recommend trying out Larry Teddybuggy. It has VERY similar stats to this combo across the board, with a better miniturbo, weight and invincibility (funny) stat. Realistically it's not THAT much better but it's pretty fun if you like chaining drifts quick!

I personally only care about Kart and Glider meta, not as much about the character, so I can personally see myself using Yoshi + Inkstriker a lot in the future. This game completely flipped upside down in the last year, can't wait for those last 2 updates!

I like how it looks and it’s not that bad.
I lucked out HARD on the new meta. Pre-patch, my combo was Rosalina, Teddy, Azure Rollers, Parasol Glider because the whole combo was so CUTE on top of being decent. Now all of a sudden, glider aside, it's best in the game!
Waluigi Wiggler still works on MK8!! It’s on the WiiU version that wasn’t updated!!!
Waluigi The Duke is still viable with .25 more speed whilst maintaining the same miniturbo as Waluwiggler! Hitbox is abyssmal, sure, but it's still dope!

Toad is my main guy and I have been using, Silver Arrow, with Standard Tires and Parachute. It’s an awesome combo!

Looking back at the video, I will also have to say that the Yoshi Bike (or Comet…I prefer Yoshi Bike) is a top tier vehicle. It’s statistically the same as the Teddybuggy (and cat car), but with a much smaller hit box. However, it is much harder to master as it is inside drift.

At least Rosalina doesn't look ridiculous on the Teddy Buggy and in the Cat Cruiser. Teddy Buggy specifically reminds me of some Mario Galaxy levels for some reason, perhaps Toy Time Galaxy.
I wasn't gonna use meta like how I wasn't before this update (I was playing with dry bones) but since Luigi is viable I guess I'll start using his meta combo

The problem with the balance patch is that it didn't do enough... the wheels for one... and also the lighter and heavier weights are now inferior to the middleweights. They just shifted things over slightly.
But I think in order to get a big enough change, more than just stats need to be altered. Lightweights will always suck as acceleration doesn't matter when anywhere but 1st or 2nd you get overloaded with mushrooms. Huge speed from heavies also won't matter when it takes them a year to get a drift off, and they handle like doggie doodie.
They need to change how items work (and imo should bring the fake box back, 1st place gets wayyyy too many defensive options) and coins are just literally there to sandbag 1st... and if you're me, 2nd and 3rd as well.
The best thing for me about this is that I've been using Rosalina since day one, so all I had to do was change what my setup was lol (I used to go Sports Bike Slim Wheels)
I still feel like the heavy weights can still be somewhat viable if you use the teddy buggy or cat cruiser. Same speed as wild wiggler but with better miniturbo.
My new combo days before wave 4 is Daisy/Luigi sports coupe with wood or gla tires but damn those boost go crazy now
Morton Biddybuggy is decent imo, it has -0.25 turbo of Luigi Inkstriker but +0.25 weight which can give it a minor advantage in some cases
