There is an issue with Yoshi and Teddybuggy combo: You're risking the lowest Invincibility time after getting hit, which means that you're prone to getting hit by items more frequently. Not to mention that Acceleration is also important, as ignoring Acceleration means that recovering from off-road, falling off the track and from items becomes worse. Mini-Turbo does you no good at a standstill as you can no longer rev up with A+B in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

One thing about the Pipe Frame is that its acceleration and handling are higher than the other combos, but that's what gives it such a good feeling to drive. Unfortunately it's other speed stats don't make it optimal in the long run.
I want to see 2 things come before the game is 'finished.'
1. Standard Wheels to be buffed to the level of roller. I HATE the look of tiny baby wheels on EVERY kart.
2. The ability to control background music and sfx volumes independently.
the gla tires got buffed to be almost as good as the roller tires (they have the same stats as the standard tires but 0.25 better invincibility)

Teddy Buggy has always been the best since Wave 4. It was also a fierce competitor before the patch with Waluigi. But the fact that its 1 and 2 on this list says it all 💯🔥👍🏽
Yoshi Pipe is the way to go, I think. Same speed and mt as Yoshi Teddy but +0.25 acceleration. Not the biggest difference but I’ll take whatever I can get. And I love the retro mariokart aesthetic of the pipe frame, so I’m in.
I am still an Inside drift enjoyer, and having the option to play as Tanooki Mario feels great, he always had my favourite animations and voice lines (some come from Mario Tennis, some come from Super Mario Bros 3, and his feel has always been nice. I honestly would like to see one other inside drift class with a different feel become viable just for a sense of variety, but otherwise nothing beats just sneaking past item play bc of your combo, or dodging red shells by headbutting a sign for fun

Absolute beauty video, can’t believe Yoshi is still the meta. Would’ve like to seen the you mention the Yoshi Bike and Comet with the Teddy Buggy since the have basically the same stats except invincibility. Us inside drifters like a little spice

Inside Drift for life! I actually had no idea YB had less invincibility than Teddy, I don’t know why the is but the more you know! Luckily the difference is very small
i love using inside drift bikes, but sadly they will never be meta because of no adjustment hops :/

I really enjoy the white shy guy with the standard cart and the blue standaard tires. Mixed with the mktv glider. It feels really quick and its quick turbo is fast!
I'm still on Rosalina and Biddybuggy combo! Thanks to YTers like you I know the behind the scenes and can crush my opponents but also have a good time on my own time trials! Thanks for the update
I praise wave 5 for giving my main, Male Villager a buff in mini-turbo, because now I won't be able to feel left out when I wanna do worldwides from time to time.
I started using Mario pipe frame because I wanted a well rounded car to explore stages in time trial, started using it online and actually did very well, funny seeing it being an actual good combo lol.
Also red wheels are better tbh, just completes the red look

Rip the GLA Tires for not being part as the top 5 combos in mk8dx after wave 5. We will always remember how viable of a tire you were. Also for people that prefer inside drift, you can use Yoshi Bike or Comet with the #2 or #1 combo in this list since Yoshi bike and Comet have the same stats as the teddybuggy and cat cruiser, except the Yoshi bike and Comet have slightly less invincibility but the Yoshi bike and Comet are still the 2 best inside drift bikes.
Okay, so my combo did in fact get buffed. My favorite combo was Dry Bones/B Dasher/GLA Tires/Gold Glider. And it got a buff due thanks to the B Dasher getting a mini turbo increase. So a nice Dub for me.
I have to say, you really did your homework this time. I fully agree with this list.

I’m not super knowledgeable on the stats and I don’t really keep up with all the changes, I don’t even know how to find the hidden stats, but I just like to know what the best build for my guy would be. I’m loyal to dry bowser, what would the best build be for him? I normally run him with biddy buggy, rollers and paper glider.

I was using yoshi teddy when waluigi wiggler was the meta. Glad it became the best
Honestly I use Kemek with the F1 looking car and slicks… probably not the best combo but it’s fun
The next combo HAS to be Pink Gold Peach, like just imagine how mad is going to be Nathaniel Bandy?
So I always liked yoshi biddy buggy for the more mini turbo. Is that combo still OK for what it does (I'm ok with trading some speed for mt) but just wondering if there's another combo that has the same Mt as yoshi biddy, but with better stats elsewhere?
Just invincibility is a problem
It's funny the Luigi streetle build is what I use before this. But I used wood button wheels
I’ve been playing this game since it came out on the Wii U and I’ve always found any baby character + buggybud + roller wheels + cloud glider is basically a guaranteed win.

You know I found this video and choose to watch it for fun just to see what is the best. I was surprised that the set that I used for the longest time was number 2
You can do Kamek, Teddy Buggy, Sponge Tires and Cloud Glider to get a better invincibility stat than Kamek Teddy Roller
Now my new favorite combo and don't judge me. But my favorite combo is Yoshi, Yoshi bike, rollers or Sponge tires and paper glider.
The leaf wheels are very good aswell

The city tripper is so slept on I definitely beat a lot of players the only ones that I can beat on occasion are the ones who just have nothing but lag and mess up the whole lobby and race one that I know is YTSammyG19 he’s from the UK and just has nothing but lag as to why he wins all the time
on the next mk game, they should add the current meta (charature/kart,wheels,glider) to the selection menu an keep it up to date whenever the meta changes

Question: why would you choose one frame over the other (ex. Teddy buggy over Cat Cruiser, Pipe Frame over City Tripper, etc.)
Since one of them is always more popular than others with the same stats
My guess would be the hitbox, but the Varmint looks way smaller than the Pipe Frame and I would expect small hitboxes to be more popular
so you see, bikes have a weird drift that isnt most people's taste for the City Tripper and varmint, Cat cruiser has the same stats as teddy but is a kart so it drifts worse and no inside drift because of really bad drift (funky bowser bike/flame runner for life) so there you go

Kamek streetle is the magic roach combo
I'm kinda hoping they buff the inward drifting bikes a bunch just because it would shake things up so much
Personally i find iggy teddy buggy to be a lot more well rounded than yoshi teddy but that might just be iggy bias lol
I am never going to use any of these combos because i only use inward drifting bikes. If you could make a similar list with inward drifting bikes that would make me really happy.
JPG you forgot the Luigi teddy buggy GLA tires It has great invincibility and doesn't lose much mini turbo you even said it in one of your videos

Been playing inkling boy inkstriker and its the one combo ive been getting the most consistent result with
Villager streetle is my second most used combo but i havent been winning with it as much as inkstriker

The Mach 8 frame is actually better then the Inkstiker, all the stats are exactly the same except Mach 8 offers 0.25 more invincibility, which is pretty important in online play. It is not much but hey it makes it better right. Yoshi is only the best if you are able to use mini-turbo's all race long and don't get hit, which is pretty impossible for online play..

Question : is Biddybuggy still viable ? Cause that was my main during Wave 4, and I haven't played Wave 5 yet, is it still a good combo or is it just average now ?

yes it still is, dont use it in comp but outside of that yes pretty good
I can’t provide an exact video or time in the video, but at some point in a previous video he showed that it is the worst of all the viable vehicles. So yes it is still absolutely worth using, just not as good as some other combos
@@intorian9304 yeah i see what you mean, bad speed so it struggles with speed based tracks, low weight so it gets bumbed pretty far especially when drifting, bad invinsibility so getting mario karted (which is awfully common in comp) is very easy and its a kart so it feels less good, if you guys are going to use it with a viable character, use it with anything but yoshi tanooki mario and cat peach weight classes, more speed and weight and more invinsibility but less accel and mt which is not too bad, and also you can use it with gla to help it a little more
I get that luigi teddy gla isnt as optimal as rollers, but im still suprised to not see it on this list. Overall, a great video
Rollers really are just too op.
Rollers:
- 0.5 Ground and Anti-gravity (but mt is better)
- Weight (not super important)
- Invincibility (not super important either)
+ Water Speed untouched (it's fast)
+ 0.25 Airspeed (was already fast)
+ Handling
+ 0.75 Mini-turbo (it's already got so many perks, but this is overkill)
+ Acceleration (it's nice to have if you are coming off the off-road)
Now to compare to the GLA's:
+ Ground and anti-gravity speed (this is the real advantage here. You can out-speed players on booster sections too with enough coins.)
+ Weight (compliments the speed boost well)
+ Invincibility (nice to have, comes in clutch sometimes if you're front-running, though front running with GLA's isn't as easy as with rollers )
- Water and glide speed almost identical to rollers (crazy that these are almost the same, and not faster)
- Handling (though it's still good)
- only +0.25 mini-turbo (Combined with the loss of handling, there is a noticeable difficulty in charging mini-turbo)
- Acceleration (it's not terrible, but you'll need to drive a little more before you can start charging mini-turbos after getting hit)
Notice how rollers buff the most important stats more than anything else at all? That's why GLA's just aren't meta. Still good though.

@@dogyX3 While all of that is true, and I do believe rollers are better, you didn’t include hidden stats, where Gla shines. The only reason it was the best for a while is because of its invincibility. So I’m not saying it is better, I’m just surprised that what jpg believed to be the best for quite a while didn’t make the list.
Another thing. While ground speed is used alot, its not actually that important to prioritise.
I know it's the 2nd most important stat, but I've gone through all the combos and realised that if you do:
mini-turbo stat + ground speed stat
You'll get the same number with nearly all the combos. Meaning there is no way to change the meta combos to gain ground speed without losing mini-turbo.
So the rollers having poor ground speed is not even a negative point. There is literally no way to gain more speed without losing the same amount of mini-turbo.
It's poor anti-gravity speed however is a downside, there are ways to gain more of it:
mini-turbo + anti-gravity speed
for some meta builds is better/worse than other meta builds
@@Bluearrow12535 yeah. The problem with invincibility is that it only matters most when front-running.
But roller builds are easier to use and faster than GLA builds, so the odds of front-running with GLA builds is less, so it's main advantage rarely sees daylight

Just wondering I use Toadette with the Yoshi bike, red slims and cloud glider and always seem to do incredibly well, is there some hidden stats I'm unaware of that make it work.
Yoshi bike is the best inside drifter, slims are the second best wheels behind the rollers imo jus replace toadette with yoshi you’ll get better results
@@kennanrecinos7309 Thanks for the info, no one really talks about the inside drifter bikes. I think I will stay with Toadette already get anywhere from 1st to 3rd on average plus she is my favorite character.

completely depends on the track just look at world record combos
I would have preferred if there were also some other characters with high weight in top. No rosalinda class, wario class, waluigi class...

So, villager and tanooki mario are the meta now after Wave 5. Toadette should be as good as to use on the game as these two.
I go for Tanooki Mario, Teddy Buggy, Mario, Teddy Buggy, and Yoshi, Teddy Buggy.

I would honestly give an honorable mention to yoshi streetle and yoshi pipe frame (the pipe frame is basically the new biddy buggy).
Also a slight optimization for the streetles mainly: Using leaf/button tyres will add one ground speed and remove one mt, so it doesn't really change the main factors, but the key is that these tyres give 2 or 3 points of antigrav-speed, balancing out the streetle's flaw
How is the Pipe Frame better than the BiddyBuggy? I haven't looked at all of their stats so please prove me wrong.
@@shinyshinx789 you used to get 1 speed at the cost of 1 mini-turbo. But now, the speed stats were buffed, so now you get 2 speed for only one mt. This means that pipe frame is better simply

I dont know why Yoshi is in every mouth when the inkling boy class exists for online. It has less traction but you dont really need it for online at least if you know the maps correctly, it has better weight and better invicibility which i think is better for online plays

If you are one of those people that have to optimise every little detail when playing a party game like MK then you oose as life. I remember when playing an online game that was full of Japanese players using the Waluigi/wiggler/roller combo and i stomped them most of the time.

Yoshi Teddybuggy the best? No way. When I played online and used that combo, I dropped from the top 3 to the 5th place and the mini-turbos doesn't make a lot of difference compared to other characters. Besides lots of Yoshi's on Teddybuggies has been easily beaten by Kameks. Even my main made better race performances.

luigi & iggy have the same stats as kamek
The best combo is the one its been all along: yoshi, pipe frame and rollers. People just didn't want to agree for some reason, but stats don't lie.
I use the same combo as you but with the sponge tires instead also the stats with the roller and my version with the sponge don't lie, both tires are good
