I without the dart in there, would the curve have been to deep to make with a heat gun? seemed like the curve was that significant. thanks for the video
Punished Props Academy can you make the mask from the movie hold the dark
Were is the free template
do you think you could do one of the legion mask from dead by daylight
What if i dont have XPS/insulaiton foam.can i used styrofoam (the one that has small ball when you break them) instead? Thanks
"Hello Fellow Maker!"
*bold of you to assume i've made anything worthy of note*
Dexiant well I once put a rubber band on an empty pen tube so I could shoot plastic straws so I’m basically Einstein
Dexiant it doesn’t have to be worthy, just as long as it made you happy to create!
amen
@Usling bold of you to exist
it's not about actually making something but rather the spirit of it, the will of it, the feeling that you get from it. you can even not have made anything in your life but if you find joy or satisfaction in simply the idea of making (which may lead you to the path of making something noteworthy) then you, yourself are a maker.
You say you're impatient but first you built a foam mold, then a duct tape template, then a paper template THEN started on the mask (which is where I probably would have started by the way). IMHO you have the patience of a Saint! :)
yeah ! What didn't he just carved the details and then vacu-formed it :') ?
How is this a 2 days old comment?

18:48 that rotary tool sounds like an 80's synthetizer.
Man, you are one fortunate man to not be bothered by squeaky foam! Oh boy... that was rough, but great build! :)
I agree. I cringe so hard. I feel the same way about card board too. Especially cutting it.
@@Sara11614 cardboard too? Woah, that's gotta be hard for you since it's practically everywhere! Cardboard doesn't really bother me, but anything that squeaks like crazy is a problem. We must soldier on! :)
hahaha I was thinking the same thing. When he busted out the sandpaper for the foam I was like naw man, please don't
good_music yeah me too I died when he was sanding
Ya I was cringing every time he was cutting the foam lol
The "pulling the foam out of the storage" shot was just masterful. The acting. The lighting. The cinematography. Brilliant.
I really appreciate the fact that he lists all the tools and where to get them in the description. The videos is super simple and clear too :)
Friend of mine who works with leather welded the rivet tools to his vice grips. Makes perfect rivets every time without having to hammer it.
That's a brilliant idea!
I’m someone who has recently found interest in cosplay lmao . I want to start creating replicas/props and with your channel it seems possible . Thankyou
Instead of sheer cloth I like to use drywall sandpaper, it's much more rigid and durable so you don't have to worry about potential rips.
I am not sure what you call the opposite of ASMR but the sound of foam is that.
The judge: *get knocked down *
*Intenste hissing noises*
When he was using the rotary tool it sounded like а song
it was super satisfying to hear too
This stuff is honestly just the best content I watch. The way you talk to the camera is great, easy-to-follow instructions, links to other helpful videos, and overall incredible videos. You guys are one of my favorite channels.
Awwww thanks so much! We're so happy to know that we're helping people learn to make things.

Perfect timing for my break from a project I'm working on! The texture on the mask looks so nice
Thanks very much, so glad you enjoyed the video!
I love how the drill press is called the bungholer.
nothng compared to "THY SPINNETRATOR!" lmfao
Jabba the Cut up there too
This is perfect for the Rimuru mask I'm planning on making! Amazing work! Good job!
I'm so happy you made this video. I was trying to work on it myself but this is just the motivation I needed. Thanks!
Wonderful! We're so glad to have helped!
Solid build man, love the textures
I really like how you just "Sneak up" on your prop.
I like how he plays all of my favorite games, then makes something from them. Keep it up.
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you very much for the wonderful video and attention to this character! For me, he is much more interesting than just a companion!
A sureform rasp is an ideal tool for shaping foam like that. Its what's frequently used to shape surfboards before they get covered in fiberglass.
I like the fact that he tells us exactly how to do it, no details left out(:
I love that kooky little vibrato that the rotary tool makes.

10 years ago my dad had to talk to this Judge person and I haven't seen him since
Kinda odd, huh?
Don't worry I kid
Same but my mum tells me in he's in a better place.

28:00 “The paint is mostly dry,” he says, just before taking his entire hand and dragging it through the entirety of his ‘mostly dry’ paint job.
ahhh the sound of insulation foam squeaking gives my goosebumps
27:59 "The paint is mostly dry *RUNS MY HAND ALL OVER IT*"
That came out great!!! Now you can attempt the full Groot, the skills should transfer ;)
Thank you!!! I’ve been waiting for a pattern like this!
He linked it
I think I'm gonna use something like this for my mage type, wizardy, magic user, character, thank you for this lovely tutorial
That'll be really cool! Have fun =)
That mask is on point! its so cool but i would loved to see you goofing arround with your mask hehe... good video anyway
Really really loving the music tunes under the build sections!
When the drillpress does go deep enough, you can stop the drill when it bottoms out; move the table up, with the bit in the hole; and drill through the rest of the way.
Thank you so much for showing the pattern making from start to finish ... most vids only show having the pattern already and cutting it out on the foam, but I loved seeing the entire process!
You're so very welcome!
Can I buy this from you?
Just found your channel yesterday and I am enjoying it very much .I have full blown RRMS my days are spent in my power wheel chair ,which I call the Green Lantern because of the green rims and trim,I find humor in your videos very relaxing .
That's truly fantastic to share! We really appreciate your support!
Great work! Looks really awesome
This is my favourite ever, one video build. Absolutely amazing stuff
That's really great to hear, thanks so much!
Even though I dont plan to make alot of the stuff you do, it is nice to see how to work with foam better than I do. Well now I just need tools and money
I love your intros. always something new, always something funny. lol thank you for the laughs
Aww thanks so much! We have a lot of fun making them, it's wonderful to hear that others enjoy them too!
I'm reminded of a video I once saw where to make a mask in similar shape you'd inflate a balloon roughly your head's size, use glue and paper for a basic base, cut it in half then place a half against your face and mark/cut a line along where your ears would go. From there you'd do whatever (i.e. paper mache, clay, foam, etc.) to build it up slightly more and put in your design.
I’m so glad I found this video TvT this was exactly what I was looking for and of course “rounded full face wood texture cosplay mask” is one of those things that search engines decide that are too complex or that you don’t know how to type and you ACTUALLY meant [insert not what I wanted]
Hey that's great! We're so glad you found it helpful!
amazing, your work is incomparable
I'm not into cosplay, prop building or any kind of DIY, but somehow I love watching videos like this.
Thanks for stopping by and we're so glad you enjoyed the video!
Used the pattern for a court of owls mask worked like a charm this video was amazing
Nice!
This is one of my favourite creative masks
one of my favourite propmaker plays far cry ??? my life is complete
'It's purrrfectly clean there' I like what you did there. :)
Excellent work! Haven't seen many Far Cry Cosplays done. I built the RAT4 rocket launcher for my wife a few months ago so she could go to C2E2 as a female version of Hurk. Turned out really well.
Right on!
I've never seen such precise outlining and cutting
Steady hands Doran!
Ahhh I love masks!! I hope someday you make one of those moveable werewolf type masks they sell in stores. I wanna make one since I own one but it's not that great. You also just make these builds seem achievable too. I always got overwhelmed looking for how to's on costume pieces
Those are super cool! Look up tutorials for articulated masks - those are popular for animal costumes!
I for one Really Hope you make more of Judge's Outfit.. The close-up shots show nicely all of the texture, good coloring too, great layering of details.
Well Done "}
I definitely want to, if I can! Thanks very much!
Cool build, well explained. At 18:47 I thought you were going to break out into a full-on rotary tool orchestra piece. Then again, maybe you did. Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed seeing how the wood burning turned out. Do you have a video on techniques or plan to do one? I'm building my first prop at the moment and am finding your videos really helpful so thank you
i've just been thinking how i could make this mask so this is convenient, thank you!!
You're welcome!
Amazing work! I can't wait to make my own!
You've got the spray booth done, time to build the downdraft sanding table.
I wish I had tools and a workshop. I would make so many masks. I did some by-eye radius grinding in a forge shop last year and it was some of the most satisfying work I've ever done on top of some sculpting in art class in high school. Death from Darksiders, Jack of Blades from Fable, probably every mask from Majora's Mask (and obviously the Keaton Mask.)
That insulation was a cool way to make a pattern! My favorite method for making a template that isn't humanoid is to find 3d model of the thing I want, cut it in half, and print it on an fdm printer at .3 later height. It looks exactly how you want it!
That's a great method too!
leather working, beveled taper at the end where the rivet is going to go. add some barge before adding the rivet. Can also edge bevel tool to round the edges of the leather for a nice clean look.
I've been trying to figure out what I need to hide my peepers for the longest time.
Two enthusiastic thumbs up from me as thanks :)
Would love to see you guys make a DRAGON mask!
Wow that looks really really cool
Thanks very much!
Punished Props Academy yeah no problem, glad to have someone who respects the hobby !!
Hahaha, I knew Bill was going to vacuum his hoodie as soon as the shot started but the complete ineffectiveness and his expression was priceless!
It seemed like it would work! Boy was I wrong.
Awesome work Bill - love your work - what you planning next ?
Whatever it is, it will be awesome!
This would also work really well for a mask from Absolver, they are kinda similar looking and honestly, what I thought it was at first
Awesome! Now we know what to look for at ECCC.
I can only think of Anbu.
I still have my Haku mask I made way back when. 😎 Really the best storyline of all shonen
this is badass!
That is epic!
Im thinking about using this tutorial to do the vigil mask from rainbow six and im so excited about it :)
Awwwwwwww yeah!
that looks like a fun one to make. great job!
Thanks very much!
imo the mask after the kwik seal before mod podge looks really cool. Looks like burnt wood and like chalk paint.
Isn't it neat? Super cool to see props in their different stages as they're being made.
This looks amazing! Maybe you could make the stone mask from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure next to celebrate jjba recently being added to Netflix? That would be awesome!
That would be epic
With a slow, controlled heat and a fair amount of pressure, you can get quite a bit of stretch and curve into floor mat foam. I was planning on making a similar mask today, I want to see if I can make it in one piece of foam.
That'll be an interesting experiment! Definitely let me know how it goes! twitter.com/chinbeard
Haven't watched one of your videos in a while, so it was nice to see you again. Oh but the sound of the insulation foam... *shudder*
LOOKS DAMN GOOD!
When using a punch, its a good idea to put a scrap bit of leather under it, that way you drive the tool through the leather. Otherwise the tool stops at the bottom and if the surface is hard it will dull the tools.
Awesome as always dude👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks very much!
Looks great good job 👍
Thanks very much!
It's hard not to click on one of your videos and immediately give it a thumbs up.
The Judge is my favorite gun for hire
Very usefiull to make Majora's mask. Thanks.
Glad to help!
At 13:22 did anyone else get that feeling when your knife glides through foam in one super clean cut?
I LOVE THIS‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much for watching!
22:30 I like how he says he's going to use a wood burner then proceeds to use a soldering iron.
It's a multi-purpose tool actually! It can be a wood burner OR a soldering iron, and comes with different tips to achieve different effects. Very handy!
@@punishedprops oh ok I'm sorry. It's just that that is how my soldering iron looks. Didn't mean to hash you about it only thought it was funny. I really enjoy your bids they are both mentally pleasing and funny.
I love your videos!
I’m not into the game at all, but THIS is very cool. Nice work sir.
Thanks very much!
Alright that’s actually sick af
Thanks very much!
Your animated icon in your intro is lord shaxx😍
Making a No Face from the movie Spirited Away. Your methods look closer to what I'm looking for compared to the cheap $3 masks on Amazon. Thanks.
Why am i just seeing this now i love the judge
awesome!
Awesomeness
I was just watching a few of these videos to check on some details for some stuff I was working on so I slowed the videos down to .75 speed and MAN! Bill sounds drunk when you do that!!! These are seriously some fun videos to watch and get ideas from for stuff to make and how to post process my 3D prints. Thanks for posting these guys!
By the way, any ideas for giving a certain hobbit's sword a glowing look without adding actual lights?
Isn't that hysterical to do?? We love watching videos like that! So glad you enjoyed the video!
For your sword, you could do a layer of colored foil under your detail layer so it catches the light, or have the runes run all the way through the sword with a layer of translucent cellophane in the middle (like a gel for film lights!) in whatever color you need. The light will poke though and that might give you a cool glowing effect.
@@punishedprops right on. I 3D printed the sword. So it looks like gel is the way to go.... Thanks!
My sister walks by at 16:33 and said “What the hell are you watching, is that a bra piece?😂”
Nice
this was so helpful, thank you it wa great
You're so welcome - we're so glad to be of help!
Really cool! I always wanted to make a creepy mask out of burlap. Kinda like from the movie Franklyn, would you use a similar process?
I came because I any to get in to mask making as a hobby, I am subbing because of the big machinery names. +1
