Was just about to comment on that. Belle learns how to recognize REAL and specifically Real Love. I'd also call that changing. They both help each other flourish. Beast is just as important for Belle's story and fate as she is for his.
If anything the beast allows belle to get out of her own head a little bit and actually connect with someone intellectually. Except for her father, she's never had that before. That sort of thing leads to better self expression and whatnot.
The actor was absolutely handsome as a long haired prince. Just perfect.
Dan Stevens had a lead role in the UK tv series Downton Abbey and was very good in it. He left to pursue a career in films.

I don’t think that’s what Belle learns. Belle learns that people who are angry and hurtful to others are just using a defense mechanism to mask their own pain and you shouldn’t give up on those people just because you’re afraid of them.

I don't get why they dropped the idea of using makeup for the beast. They had a whole mask looking exactly like the beast we end up seeing in the film, yet it was never used

Emma, WHAT?! The ENTIRE _Tale As Old As Time_ song was about _mutual_ change. Belle learns to recognize Beats's efforts to grow and meets him halfway to show she sees him; the dinner scene being the perfect example or that. He eats like a beast, she's disgusted, he sees she's afraid of it then tries to use a spoon that he physically can't wield correctly. She sees he's trying, so she finds the middle ground and PUTS HER SILVER SPOON DOWN to both politely sip from the bowl. It's a perfect visual metaphor for adapting, growth, and mutual change in relationships.

My younger sister wore a Belle-inspired dress in her prom and it looked more beautiful than the CGI and the original version of this dress.

You should check out the dress from the broadway musical. it's almost perfect, at the very least much better than the one from this movie
@@anavillegas6199 I came here to say the same thing. Compared to Cinderella's live-action dress, this one is a disappointment. Even Jasmine had more interesting and appealing outfits than Belle did.
He's got the facial expressions to make the perfect Beast. Too bad they opted for CGI instead of makeup and prosthetics. All throughout the movie, i just saw Beast as a computer generated image instead of a character played by a real-life actor.
Meaning the cgi team did a bad job? You aren’t suppose to continuously think about the cgi if the team did their job correctly

I agree. Live action should use as little animation as possible. Just because it's computer generated animation doesn't give it a pass.
The problem is that when you have to wear so much hair and make-up it becomes torture for the actor. Just look at what Jim Carrey went through on the Grinch

This and Cinderella are the only live action adaptations that i like. This being the top. I like that they made their Beast more relatable to Belle. To show that he also loves to read explained why Belle and Beast connected. It made the Beast on the same intellectual level as Belle. He maybe a Beast but he is smart. It elevated Belle’s standards in men. This showed that Belle is not attracted to looks but to intellect and character.

As much as I love Emma Watson, whoever made her that dress did her dirty. The dress literally looks like it was from Party City; probably from in the back room at the bottom shelf, so no one can see it. I see why. It doesn't even look like the original.
They had to make do with what she would agree to. She has some misplaced ideas about feminism so she refused to wear a corset which meant she wouldn’t be able to support a big poofy dress. It had to be done over in CGI. It’s not the costume teams fault, it’s hers as she let misinformation get the best of her.

@@happyllama1160 Nope. Not just a corset, anything that "suppressed" women. Which you actually NEED things such as corsets, petticoats, etc. as they support the weight of the dress. Without, you only are able to do so much with the dress. The designer of the dress even said that not being allowed to add ball gown dress support made her honestly upset because she had so many gorgeous ideas and they all immediately had to go down the drain because of that.

@megaraj9709 Kristen Stewart played as snow white in snow white and the huntsman. She wasn't good in that either. It seems like she has no emotional depth or range, the only thing I've seen her in that she fit well was speak, but that was about a depressed person with ptsd from a physical trauma so her expressions made sense there.

Can we all agree that Belle’s dress in the remake was atrocious. All the other costumes in the movie fit the time period and aesthetic, but Belle’s dress looked nothing like the original. It was not a flattering shade of yellow.
