This felt like one of those Manga battles where the protagonist is down early and they look like they’re going to lose until they reveal that the opponent’s strategy has a fatal flaw and proceed to wipe the floor with them.
I definitely get the strategy they were going for, but it really feels like you're sacrificing any kind of foundation for your own defense, plus you're throwing away a lot of material while just giving your opponent time to set up their own opening. Similar to what people say about a lot of RPGs, it's only the last check that ultimately matters. Sure letting your opponent get 2 free checks on you early on feels like it puts you at a disadvantage. But Simp basically started out the game up a Bishop and Knight and with 6 turns of setup whereas his opponent's boardstate after 6 turns amounted to a single pawn pushed 1 space. Not to mention that Simp didn't try to go after the Knight by pushing his D pawn which would have wasted one of his free turns.
It’s a strat that probably works very well against an actual beginner though or if you are white and playing against an opponent doing the same strategy
I don't think it is an optimal strategy but it is sure to work against the vast majority of chess players because there is so many ways to check someone by sacrificing a queen it is extremely hard to defend them all.
It's a good strategy, might even be possible to refine it if you actually discover Queen lines that fork 2 potential checks, making it unavoidable. As is, it was good until simp blocked the Queen successfully.
@@RoundShades Yeah I think that’s what it requires, a plan to put the queen in position to deliver two different checks. But it looks like this guy was just winging it and searching for single checks desperately.
A lot of 3 check players play the game as if it's 2-check lmao. Not too difficult to defend your position when you have 2 extra pieces and a ton of extra development
This might be one of my favorite chess simp videos ever! The absolute disrespect from his opponent only to get destroyed in the end with a checkmate was just beautiful.
This feels like Yugioh, “the only life point that matters is the last one” so players just say screw it and sacrifice as much life points as possible to secure the win.
That kamikaze knight opening looks like a pretty solid way to get the first check. Unless your first move is to activate the g-knight, the only ways I can see to defend against it is by pushing pawns that make the king vulnerable to diagonal attacks.
But then you lose a knight and 3 turns, which will allow the opponent to have a huge advantage. Allowing that check to happen is a gambit worth taking imo
Let’s appreciate the fact that this is probably the only times we’ll ever see Queen’s Indian/Owen’s defense setup on this channel because I’ll never trust a 100 to play e6 after b6.
Hilariously, your opponent had you beat the moment you took his g-pawn with your bishop, with a very easy third check win that they royally screwed up by going to the wrong space. You got very lucky, and then once their queen attack was thwarted, they were stuck, then killed themselves.
"Cheesy." I love it. Imagine in a real war, someone wins in a quick and unexpected manner, and then the enemy general says, "well, you may have won, but that sure was cheesy!" And then the winning general hangs his head in shame and trudges off, kicking a rock as he goes. And, before you say he didn't win... yeah, but if he hadn't blundered his queen, who knows. Also, it might just be that he needs to flesh out his strategy.
Turns out being really good at blitzing checks doesn't help you learn how to defend yourself properly. Knowing how to play normal chess is important for this, and probably most, variant games.
Out of curiosity, what happens if your first check here is a checkmate? Is it still an instant win, do you need to capture the king, or is it just considered a normal check?
Because if you allow QxC6, they then have the option of either QxD6 to deliver check if you run your king away, or simply QxD7 to take the knight if you don't. The F8 square is only safe here because the Bishop is a knight's move away from the queen.
Holy shit, checkmating opponent in a 3 checks game was absolutely gigachad move
No, the gigachad move is to deliver a checkmate on the third check
Absolutely Anti-Coward.!
The most Chess Simp move ever.

The early checks were not an attack on Simp's King, but on Simp's honour. This was the only flaw in the opponent's gameplay.

Damn, what a classy end. Being down two checks then delivering two checks followed by checkmate as the third and final check. That was great.
That genuinely had me nervous. Well done
If the opponent hadn't inexplicably blundered his queen (paid/unpaid actor?!?!?!), who knows what might have happened.
This might be one of my favorite chess simp videos ever! The absolute disrespect from his opponent only to get destroyed in the end with a checkmate was just beautiful.

He's better than Simp's viewers!

This was a cool variant, and also gave a slight peak at Simp's knowledge of chess. Wouldn't mind seeing more of this.
Definitely one of the best videos of all time on this channel

Absolutely gigachad plays surviving on a single check remaining. This is like facing a rushdown deck in a TCG.

@@tamatebako_yt And yet for some reason Simp said he doesn't know what it does.
That was a nice flex on your opponent
Your opponent was getting cocky so that was a perfect way to put them down.
this was an intense one, i liked it
The sheer testosterone presented in this video involving a checkmate in a 3 check game has humbled not just me, but the universe I'm apart of.

That was two wins in one. 200% rate.

3:08 "Qg7 is lethal" is Simp a Hearthstone player? Or does some other game use that terminology?
Lethal is a synonim of deadly, you don’t need to play hearthstone to use this word
the opponent was REALLY trying there.
This was satisfying as fuck, I really grew animosity to his lame all-in strat

Do wins with 3 checks AND a checkmate count as 2 wins? Is this a 200% winrate?

This variant is very interesting. Could you beat an opponent with the first check is also a check mate?
Scholar's Mate or Fool's Mate would be examples of 1 check and checkmate
i'm pretty sure checkmates are still checkmates, regardless of current check count
Yes, checkmate is still checkmate on 3 check variant
Checkmate is still checkmate. You dont need to give three checks if you put their king in a position where it'll be caputred.

True, and the opponent might forget that the bishop defends it
