Picked this game up a few days ago and have been loving it. Still have yet to unlock nightmare, mostly because I'm hooked on monkey king but constantly dying lol. Apologies if you're already aware of this, but one thing I've found with monkey king is that after the parry triggers it'll immediately do any button or joystick inputs. However, if you aren't pressing any buttons or moving the joystick, the parry will continue the remainder of it's duration after the initial block. It's useful for things like fire breath, wolf howl, and witch lightning (I think it also works against the blue beam from the knight wizard in act 3?)
Yeah this game really hooks you once you start to grasp it. And no worries, it’s good insight, I have to get more use to the enemies in the 3rd chapter with the parry, it would have help with the beam from that knight. I’ll use it a lot in the 1st and 2nd chapter against the dagger cultist, barf ghouls, and the purple jinns if I use stone monkey or way of awakening
I know it’s the best when you get it with no rerolls and it makes a huge difference, I have a video I’m going to post later today where a very similar thing happens
Yeah the hardest part is having your brain quickly adapt to the new playstyle of whoever you get and quickly thinking of their best synergies. It still feels really strong unless you get Geppetto

birds in chapter 2 give me nothing short of bloody hemorrhoids
the birds and the broom stick witches in chapter 3 that can fly in off screen and 1 shot you. It's all pain
man that ult makes me laugh everytime you used it and the monkeys just dies immediately after

I wonder if transfiguration is still viable in this update. Last I seen of it, you could pretty much wipe out hordes.
