It creates a rich, dark or semi-sweet chocolate and is super delicious. And it is completely dairy-free with no cooking involved. It takes only about 5 minutes to make, minus the chilling time. Homemade chocolate with cocoa powder is so easy to make, if I can do it, you can do it. Let's get started!

Can we use butter in exchange of coconut oil?
@@thedreamers8324 No that won't work, there is too much water in butter. But you can always try it for yourself and see how well it works. :)
Am i able to use caster sugar instead of powdered sugar?
I just made this with a little different twist and it's DELICIOUS! I don't have molds so I doubled the recipe and used cooled melted regular butter instead of oil, added pistachios, and then spread it on parchment paper in a 12 x 9 sheet cake pan. I put a little chocolate all over bottom of the pan so the parchment paper would stick down and not slide around as I spread the chocolate. After it was in the freezer for 30 minutes, I broke it apart into pieces. This set up really well and is SO good. I used dark chocolate cocoa powder that I got at Costco. I will make this MANY times adding different things to it like craisins, different nuts, dried fruit, etc. Dark chocolate is good for us so this is just wonderful and I KNOW what's in it. Thank you for such an easy and quick recipe.
Awesome! Glad you had fun with the recipe.
Did you use salted butter? And is the measurement the same as coconut oil?
@@shreeyathakur8532 Hi, yes, I used salted butter with the same amount as the oil. :)
@@nigella4me was it savoury or you couldn't taste the salt?
I'm curious about the taste
Is it like dark chocolate with a touch of sea salt?
@@muniaisworthit I couldn't taste any salt. It was sweet and delicious, but you could top it with a little salt for that sweet and salty taste. I like that flavor.
Oh, geez. I've got four containers of cocoa in the cupboard, a whole bottle of coconut oil, and a few bags of powdered sugar. This can't end well...or can it?! Muahahahaha!
lol awesome, Scott! It is so incredibly easy to try out, make a small batch of chocolate first and see how you like it. Then have fun playing around with different sweeteners if you like. One of the easiest recipes to experiment with.
Hey, did it end well?
@@huowuxin - Oh, it ended well...for the chocolate. For myself, not so well. 😃

You are so very welcome, Deb! :)
Hey sir can we use normal refined oil
Thank you. It solved my problem when I ran out of chocolates 😊
You are welcome!
Healthy, high percentage cocoa chocolate bars are so expensive. I wanted to figure out if there was a way I could just use my Hershey's cocoa to make something similar. The one I had on hand was the dark chocolate version. I wanted something that tasted good but it didn't have to be a candy bar. Based on your video and a couple of others that I watched, but I like yours best, I put two spoons full of cocoa in a coffee cup, added two spoonfuls of powdered sugar and stirred it real good. Then I added in about two spoonfuls of MCT oil And stirred it together really well. It tastes wonderful. I'm going to cut up a banana and add it in and have chocolate-covered banana for dessert!
Nice!
Brilliant! Made it sugar free (with powdered Swerve. Added 2 pinches of fine salt and used it to dip cookies. THANK YOU!!
Awesome!! :) :) You are so very welcome!
Excellent video, thank you! I did 1/3 salted butter and 2/3 coconut oil and added lightly toasted pecans. Deadly in the best of ways 🤩

Great video, Matt. I tried substituting 1:1 mixtures with using pure extra virgin olive oil and eryhritrol monk fruit sweetener instead of powder sugar. 100 % pure dark cocoa powder. Turned out calorie free and healthy dark chocolate candy.
Awesome!
Olive oil has calories
Cool, now I can make my own dark chocolate so easily. Will experiment with different sweeteners too. Thanks!!

I added chopped hazelnuts to mine and used avocado oil (neutral flavor kind) instead of coconut oil (too high in saturated fat) as well as substituting erythritol for sugar to make it healthier and it tasted amazing! Thank you for your base recipe! 🙂

Good luck! Let me know how it turns out.
Thanks a lot for such a easy method.Stay blessed & Be Happy.
You are welcome!
Thank you so much for the recipe! I was irritated and need chocolate bar to calm my nerves but there was nothing left. I tried it just now using coconut oil and honey and it takes only 15 minutes in the freezer to solidify. For whoever using honey please try to keep the chocolate height not exceeding 2 cm. Mine was 3.5 cm and the honey sink to the bottom and it leaves with uneven sweetness height wise. (Yes I ate them by scooping with spoon because I used a small container instead of a mold)
Glad this worked in a pinch to suit your chocolate bar cravings! :) :)
A beautiful day, bless you Matt and thank you :)

The recipe looks amazing and I will try this but I have some questions....1st, I don't have powder sugar, also my grinder is broken so can I use blender or stove to mix up the ingredients/sugar(cuz i cannot buy powder sugar from where I live)...2nd IK its a cookless recipe but can I cook it for few minutes(I'll not boil it)cuz i think it would taste better..?3rd, i don't have silicone molds or any mold so what Should I use?or can I use aluminium foil for making some shapes?4th,can I use some Almonds, peanuts or Coconut powder as garnishing for some extra good taste?also can I put some powder milk for that milky texture?....btw tysm,I'll try this😊
It won't taste very good without adding powdered sugar. Regular sugar is too granulated. Try it first the real way before trying to cook it. You can try making a mold out of aluminum foil. You will probably want to spray the foil or use oil on it to keep it from sticking. Yes you can use nuts. You can use milk powder for milk chocolate. Good morning from Australia
Good morning! Thanks for watching in Australia!
Matt can these be used for baking, Eg choc chip cookies, as choc filling in buns/bread, etc? From a baking perspective, (for homemade chocolate) is there a difference between semisweet baking chocolate vs semisweet chocolate chips, and what type of baking each can be used in?
Hi Judith, these melt much easier than regular chocolate made with cacao butter. But as far as baking goes, for the most part you can use semisweet baking chocolate interchangeably with semisweet chocolate chips. The very best chocolate is made from the cacao bean, not cocoa powder. This is just a fun DIY at home chocolate.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt thank you. 🙏🏼Appreciate your response. Love your channel btw … I’ve already tried out some of your recipes and they’ve all turned out favorites for my kids.

@@judithkilla6329 Hi Judith, this one is a better one and closer to storebought chocolate but again, the only way to make true homemade chocolate is to buy the actual cacao bean. And use a chocolate melanger, which makes it smooth. czcams.com/video/ax2xAq0ldpg/video.html

what can i use as a replacement of coconut oil
Cocoa butter, which is actually used to make real chocolate.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Can I use regular butter? or Margarine
@@fictionaddiction4706 You can always give it a try, but it may not work that well. Actual chocolate doesn't have butter in it. It has cacao butter which is different. But this recipe is so easy to experiment with. My guess is it won't turn out as well.

I was just wondering if there is any substitutes for the coconut oil
Yes, cacao butter/cocoa butter which is what is used in real chocolate. But other then that, no, only those two seem to work.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Hey matt, What about normal table butter. Will that work ? Also can we add honey instead of sugar ?
@@malipedduharish Hello normal butter won't work very well, it doesn't harden as well like coconut oil or of course cacao butter which is the actual ingredient in real chocolate. You can try honey, but again, it doesn't harden very well. There are so few ingredients, you can easily expirement.
Hello Matt, I just tried it and it came out amazing. Need to order some molds now ! I have access to cocoa butter, but I guess I'll stick to cold-pressed coconut oil as it is a healthier option.
