- In this video I talk my experience taking classes with Baselang for 4 months. If you're thinking about taking online Spanish in 2021, I hope this video will help you make a decision on whether Baselang is worth a shot.

Ok watched this last night and wow, as a 3 week "beginner" on BaseLang (not counting the 2 years of high school Spanish "hace muchos años" lol) I want to say you totally covered all the positive points I've experienced with BaseLang. I'd only add that after each 1/2 hour class, I come away TOTALLY motivated and we know that's one of the most important things in learning anything - i.e. staying with it - not giving up. You really gave a great summary. I lean toward a positive bias since I'm early on with Baselang so I'll come back in 3 months and we'll "compare" reviews LOL. Scheduling a class at the last minute is one of the highlights for me. I look at the clock and say, "Let's do one" and whatever the next half hour is, I schedule for that time slot. Amazing. Oh, and one more thing - regarding teachers, you covered it all but I'd add (or maybe amplify what you've said already) that we all know the work has to come from us. I've not had a "bad" Baselang teacher, but there are differences and I take each one as they are - I always have the choice not to go back right? (to that one) but I ALWAYS go in with "How can I make this work" whether it's them not on the screen, a less than perfect Internet connection, I wanted to go into Lesson and they went in conversation (and I have the choice to halt that but choose not to) because I want to get what I can from them as they are. I can always do another lesson in the next half hour. I see people who are nit-picky - (not you, but people you know lol) don't be that way - decide it's going to be a great lesson and make it happen - you're with a native from Peru, Equador - in otherwords I hold ME accountable for the success of any lesson. And like I said, if it's less than perfect, just move on to the next half hour. Finally, now when you're in BaseLang, KEEP DOING what you were doing before. Before you did it all and were NOT getting the results - you did Pimsleur, RStone, Anki, all of them and it wasn't getting you where you wanted to be - ok, now you're in BaseLang with UNLIMITED lessons (like a gym, you go in and workout) so now KEEP doing those other things because now you have the golden key (conversations with native speakers) so the other stuff WILL work - AND you'll remain motivated with each BL lesson.

The flexibility to book a class last minute makes it tempting.
But with preply there are many Spanish tutors for $3 an hour. I can choose the tutors I like the most and schedule 2 classes every day for the same price as baselingo. Plus I know exactly what I'm getting because i can get to know the tutors and have a trial class before subscribing.

Baselang es un chingon programa lo he estado usando solo 3 meses y puedo hablar mucho español también puedo entender mucho todavía tengo mas que aprender pero este programa es bueno

Good vid Johnny, I used baselang for my first 2 months in Spanish (Oct/Nov 2020). Currently I am using Assimil & another resource, but plan on starting Baselang again in April 2021. Great job in the Spanish journey!

Great video. Would you recommend doing the Lingoda SuperSprint first before moving onto Baselang? I am nearly A2 proficiency in Spanish and was unsure if the Lingoda Supersprint is worth doing first or whether it would be just as effective to solely use Baselang. Thanks!
Thank you for this review, Jonny. I have been self-studying Spanish for a few months but plan to start learning it in earnest now. In about a year, I will leave Canada and move to a Spanish-speaking country. I am thinking about a Latin American country (vs Spain) because I think as a person with a darker skin tone, I would stand out less/fit in better in Latin America. I'm not sure which country though - still narrowing it down. So far, I have it narrowed down to Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. I'm curious if you or anyone reading have any thoughts or advice on this topic.
Yes, thank you for your video review and how BaseLang works for you. By chance did you ever take Spanish or any other languages in High School? I took 2 years of Spanish in school, but what i learned there i forgot very quickly. I am starting back up with Spanish and doing some of the free lessons on You Tube. Then i will go from there. I really like Baselang, but I've had some of those bad instructors too. And lots of internet problems on the side of my teachers. I had professors cancel classes on my three times last week, with no substitute being available. But when I can actually have class with good internet connection and an instructor I like, I absolutely love it.
Yes I’ve had internet issues in the past too. Luckily things have been pretty smooth lately.

I really enjoyed Lingoda, and will probably use them again in the future. But I do think Baselang is better as far as price and advancing more quickly.
@@camcramer8815 For sure, but I really liked the aspect of having another student in the classes with me at Lingoda. It really added to the experience. In the three free lessons I had, I had a class with a Chinese girl from Hong Kong, a Somali-Canadian, and a Russian guy. You certainly do not get that with Baselang.

I'm doing the same thing $150 is alot to drop I'm using some apps to learn it helps some but I don't have that one on one to help with questions. I'm really considering using baselang
I’m back after 4 Months and I can say BaseLang is the number 1 Spanish School. I’ve learned a lot within that time and be able to communicate with Spanish People around the world muchas gracias

Are there teachers from México on this platform?
I love that they have Latin American Spanish...I feel like most of the Spanish programs I've found have had European Spanish, which is cool, but I know like English they vary. I wonder if some keep their video off because it messes with the quality of their audio (which I've had happen)..but I'd like to see people's faces when I'm trying to learn a language.
I like speaking to people face to face too, but I understand that connectivity can be an issue sometimes for sure.
I have anxiety and don't want to be on camera! Is this for me or another program?

Should I learn a minimum amount a spanish first? What if I speak zero Spanish? How much spanish should I learn on my own first?

I like Baselang and plan to continue using it all year. If you are committed to learning and want to learn fast, then yes I would recommend it. Good luck!
I have one question. Are there tutors from the Carribean countries? DR, PR or Cuba? Would like to learn Carribean Spanish.
they have teachers that are from the carribean cost of Columbia. but not from DR PR or Cuba but they can teach you jerga ( slang) from those countries witch is slang with is more of what you are trying to learn but you have to get to level 4 of the program before they could teach that to you that. it a good program I could only understand Spanish from taking it in high school and and college but after six months of doing the program I could speak and you will get a accent
