  • The search for the best gopro mount for motorcycle helmet is over! I have tried many helmet gopro mounts for my SHOEI RF 1200 and yet I was never satisfied with any of them...until now. In this video, I go over the how to install the chin mount on to shoei helmet and a quick gopro helmet mount review. This simple gopro mount from CHIN Mounts allows the mount to be properly secured to your helmet right on the chin of the helmet. It gives you the best point of view footage from your helmet (as long as you install your gopro upside down). And the best part is, CHIN Mounts has gopro mount for thousands of different styles of helmets! I am so stoked to get rid of my hideous gopro helmet set-up to move on to this.

    Appreciate you reviewing & sharing this video 🤙 I'm from Vancouver, BC & have the RF1200 as well. Angles look good. Hopefully my windshield doesn't obstruct too much. Need to find a good inward windshield mount as well... search is still on

    You can use two small pieces of masking tape to help find the center before sticking the chin-mount. Just place the chin-mount with the backing still on it and when you have it exactly where you want it, place a piece of tape onto the helmet on each side. Then when you go to stick the chin-mount, the tape will guide you precisely. Thanks for the video, I've been thinking about getting a camera and recording some of my riding, not so much for YT but to just to have and keep. There's so much product out there, I had no idea where to start. The setup you showed appears simple which is what I prefer. Also, I'm in Canada so having a Canadian source is nice.

      yeah that is definitely the proper way of doing it. Also I think every rider should record their rides for their own record keeping! That is how I started too. Annnnnd you need to check my community post! You won June's giveaway man :)

    Thanks for the video. I have a Shoei RF 1400 and decided to install this same chin mount on the front using the mount that slides in at a downward angle. I'm using the clip that came with the chin mount. This may sound silly, but I can't figure out why my camera (well, the clip with the camera mounted on it) keeps popping out randomly. It doesn't do it going down the road. But if I put the helmet on the seat or something, I come back to put it on, and the clip pulls out of the mount with the camera on it. My chin mount doesn't move, just the gopro clip with the camera attached. I've manually played around to see if somehow the clips are getting pushed in making it slide back up/out, and for the life of me I can't see how that is happening. I can't manually re-produce it. Sounds crazy but I never had this issue until I started using this particular chin set up.

    Yesterday I received my ChinMount mount for my helmet, I got it installed just like you showed. My helmet is set up with a GoPro hero 8. I'm still missing an audio recording device, I'm thinking of getting a Tascam. I will try using my phone for now. Thank you so much. Soon I'll be moto vlogging!

      Tascam is what I got and works well (once you figure our which setting works with you). Audio is a tricky thing with motovlogging and can get frustrating but all of us have been there!

    Thanks for the review. I’m looking for a chin mount for my new RF-1400, the two that keep popping up is ride tech moto and chin mount. One reviewer on Chin Mount’s site mentioned that the go pro was a bit loose in the chin mount, did you notice this with yours? Thanks again.

    I found these last week. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that I have this stupid need to have the lens centered, and they don't make a mount that is offset to account for that.
    That being said, they are just 3D printed, so I plan to just model one for my Sedici Sistema II that gives it the perfect offset to center the lens.

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe  Před 2 lety

      haha I know exactly what you mean! Though after filming this way for over two weeks, I didn't notice the offset at all during editing.

    I ordered two of these for my latest road trip and both failed after just a week of riding. Interestingly the part that failed was the tape that was connected to their mount and not to the area taped to my helmet, which makes me question the quality of their work. I'm not going to be using their products in the future as I don't want to risk losing my camera.

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe  Před rokem

      @@KSMotoCafe Yeah, I don't think their mount can handle the weight of the GoPro and Media Mod on long distance trips. Maybe for short trips around town and then if you take the GoPro off to alleviate the weight but for extended trips I wouldn't trust it.
