Huge huge props for recommending those two cameras and not the other one
But the “other one” looks better than both in daytime lmfao
Even normies know now that that other one overheats.
But useless when your files will always be corrupt or the camera stops due to overheating lo. I hate my hero 9 black @@scottforti3194
@@YammiePro It is and I still own DJI stuff.
@@RioRides I use mine on external battery, stays on whole day and I just press the REC. That way, no freezes, no overheats.
OC - Chase - You have been doing this for 13 years, and you're STILL trying to improve. You're still trying to make every video a little better than the last one. That's awesome. Thanks for always putting out the coolest content you can. It's been a fun ride watching your channel grow and you grow as a person as we all live vicariously through you.
Thanks for that comment. I'm not one to just be content with what I got and always wanna do better so I plan on continuing to do so!
I was legit looking for motovlogging setups yesterday. & u drop this today. Looking forward to setting mine up one day

Sweetness! I just bought Osmo Action 4 for my vlog helmet and thanks to you, I have a better direction for even a better setup! Thanks, bro!
Hey man, been watching you for years! Just wanted to say how much I still love your videos!! I know the Moto-Vlog space is rough right now, but I’m still here for it!! I wold love a new series, I miss stuff like the adventure series the most. Not focused on the bikes themselves but the crazy shit you can get into on a motorcycle! Keep up the good work man!!
Adventures is what its all about!
Trust me dude I wanna get a T7 and go explore random stuff still. T7 = Bigger WR250x
Absolutely not a big deal with this lightweight stuff like this, but if the epoxy ever does become an issue for you, it's because you're mixing it on cardboard. The cardboard can absorb some of the properties of the epoxy and make it less of a pure mixture. Again, I doubt you'll ever have issues but something to think about if you ever use epoxy for something heavier. Unrelated to this video, but that's why some folks have trouble with body filler on car bodywork. Enjoyed the video man!
I've been running your setup from like 8 years ago, gotta watch this!
Awesome and informative bro! I think I learned something that I will be using in the future to improve my setup!
I like the way you showed how to mount the transmitter to the back of the helmet, I was trying to figure out where to mount it or even put it in my pocket and fish it from there. But this right here helped out a ton. Appreciate this video. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you so much for the video man! I'm a huge fan of the informative videos and your knowledge is very valuable :)
This is rad. The 2nd audio backup is epic. I've got so much footage with shot or missing audio that this would have saved. I've been using the Purple Panda for years... (4 of them since 2017) and Sony prior to that. Looks like I'll need to pick up some epoxy... that's my missing piece. Thanks Chase! 🎉 oh... I'm still using the original Osmo Action because it has been flawless for more than 5 years! Looking at the Ace Pro now...
You just convinced me not to go into motovlogging. 😂
The title is enough to make me not watch him again I've paused it to comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much for sharing all this info. Much Appreciate and great channel 👍
Thanks bro your info, make me still passion on motovlog although in low budget, best regards
That pro set up is sweet. Extree but sweet. I love the idea of wireless audio into the detachable camera. Might have to do some thieving😉
Im working on a wireless version of this video coming next!
All that on a ruroc
OC thanks for the tip. I started last year making videos for fun and started with the GoPro 10 and DJI mic. And because of you I have modified my ruroc 2.0 and now the 4.0 with inspiration from you 😂 so keep op the good work.
Nice. I’d get a black 3.5mm for the wireless mic receiver to the osmo action 4 and maybe a right angle mic adapter for the wired version to keep the wire from sticking out so much, besides that some cool new options shown here. Thanks
Yea I agree with that. I will say Im kinda loving the yellow because I never loose it. haha
Always one giant step ahead on these camera / sound setups another excellent crash helmet set up video , Thank you 🙏
perfect time for riding season! thanks!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks.
Really love getting some insider tips on this stuff. My only issue with your particular setup is you don’t quite get enough of that sweet sweet moto sound from the exhaust/engine.
Edit on further review I see you are addressing this with the “pro” setup. Haha hell yeah Chase.
Sick video man! There were some tips in here that I haven't ever thought of that are SICK! Also you can set the output gain on the Ace Pro :) I have mine set to -12db
Fantastic video Chase ! 👍👍👍, Very informative, and I will be guided by your recommendations ! 😁😁
I've had great success with the purple panda but I always thought there was something I was missing and that sennheiser mic seems like the ticket. I also like the functionality of that rode recorder if it auto balances around your volume because screaming can clip if you're already pushing to the edge of the recorder which I do with my tascam. Great video sir🫡
OC-Talk about giving it a 110%. This puts my setup to shame 🤣
Looks good buddy, stay safe out there and bring on 2024!!!
I'm defo going to be looking to try this set up
Good video. Thanks for sharing the tips.
OC Love the detail, Chase. I've been using the DJI Osmo Acion 4 with the DJI Mic 2 to eliminate wires. Still dialing in my setup but I think I might be able to get away without a lav by just attaching the mic pack in the front of the Bell MX-9 helmet.
thx- i did your. exact setup but standard helmets won’t allow the visor up and down too well with this setup, so i’m looking at the helmet you have here. I also find the cardo mic setup to be so good now, that it’s worth running a separate recorder for engine noise then adding them together in the edit process btw
Thank you for these instructions 🤘
OC. nice vid homie
Thanks a lot for this super helpful informations. I really appreciate your work 👍
Chase, try the DJI mic2, it doesn’t requiere the receiver, just the transmitter.
This is what I use! I glued the magnet to the bottom of the cheek pad and have the mic 2 transmitter on the outside of the helmet. I then use a wired mic that runs inside the helmet. I swap my Osmo action between chin, mounted and handlebar, mounted and always have direct audio.
@@jamesmaclennan5276 can you show me what you did?
Yeah, that's what I'm using and have a detailed vid showing how I do it wirelessly. There's a link in my other comment above!
On the Ace Pro you can also adjust the mic level. It's in the settings menu under general and then external microphone.
Nice set up, trying something along the same lines myself.
I am glad to say that I based my channel name on chase's channel name! Just because I love to live on two wheels and also love and learn a lot watching his videos, good fan. About the go pro camera position, my favourite and the best way in my opinion is by fitting it upside down on the helmet front chin so I have better angle ajustment options to great video takes with wide view to the audience! God bless you all.
Great set up make alot of sense.
Great video! Thank you! I’ve been making videos for years but switching from tuner cars to bikes is a game changer in the audio world.
I am running the GoPro 12 Pro Black and the latest Rode Wireless Me (the one with a mic in the receiver and the transmitter). I have yet to make a published video with the new helmet set up but so far the auto gain and dual mic set up opens the door for clear audio and engine / exhaust noise on my Streetfighter V2. (*I actually fit the transmitter under my cheek pad in my Shoei and curious to see how it goes without a separate vlogging mic - my bike is loud AF!)
Next goal has to be to clean up the look though… your helmet set up is definitely better than mine was, but mine will be clean and stealthy.
Thanks for this! 🤘🏼
OC: great helmet and the setup. I was thinking of doing the same but with the DJI Mic 2 with the DJI action 4. The new mic can Bluetooth to the camera and it has 32bit flot. Can't wait see how the audio will come out with the two mics.
super, super helpful Mte - grazie!
OC-Thank you! Please do camera settings video!
OC sick to see this setup, hope to get the chance to do this one day
very cool setup, i use Cardo with Ace Pro as my go-to setup, cheaper and easier
Great video!
I like the CFMOTO shirt, so cool! That XO Papio is awesome.
be safe, ride safe..
Thanks for the recommendations I’ve just ordered myself the purple panda mic from Amazon hopefully it’s as good as you say
Thankyou! I'll install my mic like what you did in this video. It s suck for me who motovlog touring around city without any sound that out from my mouth.
Nice setup man! Thank you for sharing. But little bit curios, can you capture sound from your Cardo to get the sound of communication through Cardo with your group? I guess that would be nice to add.
Thank you the killer audio set up! 🙌 do you record conversations on your Cardo when riding with others? I’m thinking of getting that conversation recorded other than the app recording and post sync.
I remember some of your early videos where the mic messed up (especially back with that horrible GoPro USB-C - 3.5mm adapter). I think I recommended getting a zoom audio recorder to handle the audio - which would've been a pain to sync back in post. So the back up recordings straight on the Rode is great, and even while you were talking about installing the transmitter I was going "YOU CAN PUT THE OTHER ONE ON THE BIKE ITSELF TOO AND HAVE AMAZING AUDIO!"
Thanks for sharing!
- First setup can be lot clearner with a short type c mic
- Osmo 4 action can connect directly in camera to dji wireless mic, don t need a wireless receiver for that
Thanks for the information's sir .
Hi Chase, just for your info, you can (and have to) adjust the mic gain in the insta360 Ace Pro. Stock it's quite hot, at least for me, so I reduce the gain by -12db in the camera👍
I can't believe we're still at the level of strapping a brick onto our faces if we want to film. I guess I'll just do my best to remember the epic trip I'm about to embark on. 😂
I love this video, thank you ;)
Closing that front vent was a game changer for me.
totally agree
Ace pro also have a gain adjustment
Great video of your setup. Dont you get problems with fogging after taping up those vents?
Liked and subscribed.
This is a great setup! Thanks for mentioning the rode system, I'm already considering it. What about riding in the rain though? Adding the mic adapter removes the waterproofing of the camera and I'm not sure the rode mic is waterproof either
ive been around this channel for 13 years :)
So the Rodemic mounted externally to the back of the helmet records your voice perfectly without wind noise or anything?? Amazing video BTW loved it!
I use a replacement, 6" gaming mic. It's perfectly long enough to come from the camera (GoPro), and under the chin guard. I poke four tiny holes in the wind block hard piece that is at the inside front of the chin guard. These let me use two tiny zip ties to secure the mic centered on my mouth, and slightly below my lips. With a foam cover, the mic pics up just a little wind noise, and the "P-P-P" while talking. With a cat butt, there is no extra noise, but it tickles my nose :)
I have no extra wire, and no need to wrap wire around and around the camera mount, leaving me a clean set-up.
I also use the Chin Mount brand of camera base, as it has a larger "foot" that conforms and adheres to the helmet.
Great content, Very much appreciated. Thank You.
Awesome tutorial!
Great video and information. Quick question, how much of this is waterproof?
Very nice setup, what camera settings are you using to get some motion blur with your ND16 filter?
Very good video... I'd add that if it was me, I would add a 90 degree 3.5mm adapter to the mic connection so it pointed down rather than out to the side. It would make for a much neater connection, keeping the cable closer to the device rather than looping out like that in the first set up.
Liked and subscribed. Is there a way to record good engine sounds too whilst talking inside the helmet?
Nice vid thank you. Better microphone options include the Cardo with Ace Pro, which is cheaper and more accessible for those who already have a Cardo.
If you want bike audio this won’t work… I use this and it works fine unless I want bike audio or to listen to music
That's such a pro set up! I currently use a chin mount that I can strap in and out, so not as high level as the DIY one you made. Might try with my old Shoei someday. By the way, you mentioned the Ace Pro lack of mic level, but in my camera I can actually set the dB level without problem. I have the latest firmara though. And I also own the DJI action 4 but I had several audio issues in the past with microphones and I just don't trust it anymore. Good camera for the large FOV but not as reliable and all-rounder as the Insta360.
A two mic wireless setup is how I've been doing my best sounding videos. Every bike is different though, so I've had some hits and some misses. Sometimes it's airbox induction that sounds best, others it's the exhaust. I use the DJI Mic setup tho. Good video though, I watched the whole thing.
OC. Nice setup. Do you use the cardo as an intercom or for phone? If so how do you set that up? Does your mic pickup the music you're listening to?
Amazing thanks for the info ✌🏻
You can set the db for external mics with the ace pro. Its in the settings. Mine is set to -12db and works great
OC: I would love to see a secondary rider use the second transmitter to see how it would hold hold up with traffic. In the end the audio would still work since even if the wireless part fails, it would be recording on board.
YES, CHASE, BUT IF YOU GET DJI MIC 2 IT'S CONNECT VIA BLUETOOTH ON THE CAMERA AND TUCK INSIDE THE HELMET AND USE YOUR MIC PLUS THE CAMERA I'LL BE WATERPROOF + RECORDS TOO AND IS THE SAME QUALITY AS RODE MIC
Yes but the quality on the wireless is muuuuuuch better
OC - Perfect timing Chase. I am just about to install my set up for my 1st ever . fyi...have not been getting any of your videos recommended or presented to me by youtube.
This is why we have an email list now because we can't trust YT. Good luck on that setup!!
Great video bro 👆 I like how you blocked the vents with the tape, which I'm going to do to my ruroc helmet now. great tip!
Good video. I get a lot of compliments on my audio but I’m doing mine slightly different. I’ll check out the rode audio wireless pack.
Nice setup with the wireless receiver/transmitter :)
Questions:-
Does the microphone feed back into the Cardo so whoever you are riding with can hear you too?
And, how is it possible to record (with high quality) those in your riding group ...
You mentioned the wireless receiver can record 2 sources. Are they both stereo and would that be a possibility to record the 'group chat' from the Cardo?
Dang someone finally using the rode dual for exhaust and mic, same here :)
Excellent vid!!!
Absolute slick set up with the rode mics.
Thanks man. I've been super happy with it so far. They also work AMAZING for my talk to camera stuff. Couldn't suggest a better audio kit for a CZcamsr right now.
this was awesome! thank you
Like a lot in this group I have just set up the DJI Action 4 with Mic2 no wires bit of metal plate works a treat still get some wind noise around 70mph but I think that’s the Ruroc 4 which is causing it😎😎
epoxy works great! Thanks man!
My Sena headset method also works with the Rode wireless mics/and Dji's wireless mics. With those, I only use the rode wireless mics with my Motovlog if I am recording with one of my 360° action cameras only. What I do is use the 3.5mm camle from the Sena along with that Rode SC3 and plug it into my Rode wireless Go II and then clip the microphone of the rode to my riding jacket. I have cages with cold shoe mounts for all of my cameras so I will typically mount the reciever to the cage and plug it into the camera....This way....if I dismount the bike and are motovlogging, all I have to do is unplug the cables from the Sena and I automatically get to continue recording using the transmitter from my collar. It's a seamless connection while vlogging from the helmet to handheld 😉.
Have any questions? ask away and don't forget to like his video as these videos do take alot of time to edit and record.
Thanks for sharing 🙂.. I can't help but wonder - won't your helmet feel very heavy after mounting and adding all those stuff..? 😯
OC. For the exhaust lav mic, use one with a 130spl level or better. The Sennheiser lav's that we both use have been the best I found. I personally run the Dji Action 4 with the Dji Mic 2 that wirelessly connect but always overlay the 32bit recording (I have a video showing why for those mics). The two biggest reasons I chose the Dji mics over the Rode mics are, 1) the Action4 is weather sealed. 2) I can detach the camera while riding (not recommended) for hand held shots or to switch between my helmet & handlebar mounts. Thank you for helping the motovlog community!
Definitely a good option but the DJI Mic 2 doesn't have a screw in type cable for my lapel that I use so I went with the Rodes because of that.
That is true & a bummer on Dji’s part. I haven’t had any issues using the locking Sennheiser mic with the non locking Dji mic but I do loop the cable around & underneath the clip for extra security.
You can get the same locking effect on the DJI Mic 2 by running the cable under the clamp. There is even a groove for the wire. Also no need for the cage and audio adapter. The Mic 2 will connect to the Osmo Action 4 wirelessly.
Correct! The Dji Action 4 & Mic2 is by far the best wireless motovlog setup in my opinion.
Great content, where can we get the jack mic adapter for the action 4 i havent seen that before thanks man
Wow, I didn't know about the gain feature on the action 4. I may have to switch teams and get one.
The AcePro can adjust the recording level. Go to "Settings", "General", "External Mic Gain", then you can go from -18 db to + 6 db.
“The best audio I was able to achieve is with the “Rode Wireless ME”. I put it directly inside the helmet and the sound is excellent. The Rode ME is very different from the others because it manages to capture clean audio when it’s in front of the mouth.”
Nice setup! Is there a wireless mic setup that I can use for my GoPro Hero 8 black?
Have you tried the instamic bluetooth microphone? I haven't used it much yet, but after a few first tests, it works exceptionally well and saves you all the wires. It connects via bluetooth to the camera (it mimics being AirPods). It works quite fine with my Insta360 ONE RS. (However, it refuses to pair with the ONE X2, but there are reports that it works with the X3)
thanks a lot for sharing!
Good work, Motovlogging is tuff task and setting up helmet for good voice recording and Audio is needs different Rnds to conclude better
Great video. How do you keep battery to last longer? I use gopro, and I get 45 to 60 minutes of recording
