    Another in the long line of listening to boomers and a few of their kids who represent the worst of motorcycle culture. Now your entry point is 14k plus all your stupid fees. Wonder why people laugh and buy something else. That strategy may have worked when there were boomers lining up to buy these status symbols with plenty of money or were still working and took out a second mortgage to YOLO but they are disappearing from riding. Plenty of people still want cruisers but don't want a car payment for them. Sad. Because the actual bike itself isn't that bad for what it is just the Harley customers they already got whined, the dealers didn't even try to sell them or change their sales tactics to deal with a different type of customer.

    I've never had it happen but I saw a trend in Kaw GSXr's doing this. I'd never say it's exclusive b/c other brands have this occur as well but I've seen it happen more to GSXr's for whatever the reasons? Perhaps I just fell into a run of videos where GSXr's were the bike but it is what I saw so I'm asking if anyone else saw it or thought this might be true? A Kawasaki was the 1st bike I'd bought so I got no reason to say this other than I saw it & questioned it since then? Anyone else know about it? peace

    A section of my local highway has lines cut into it for rain to flow in, those lines always give me speed wobble. The other day I had the wind at my back and my 250cc went faster than it ever has about 90mph when the speed wobble started uncontrollable. Before it was a bother when I was slower and to solve it Id turn in the lane a little bit to avoid the lines. I dont remember what I did to stop it by slowing down, it stopped and I rode on. Those dam lines in the road always get me.

    You missed a crucial part. You didn't burp the engine of oil. You should take the drain plug out AFTER you have changed the oil to remove any air in the system. If you don't do this, you risk catastrophic oil pump failure.

    Just FYI this fairing does work with factory bars, with factory location turn signals. That's what I'm running. Not even close to making contact. The problem you ran into with a clearance issue and aftermarket bars, I'm not sure. But you did install the fork mounting brackets backwards. They're incorrect. Only issue I can see that would cause that problem.

    I wish I could give you and your subscribers all there is to know about wobbles. Something I started researching and learning before I was old enough to have a driver's license. Then I experience it (one was the of hard variety, another a very close call, then various and numerous minor ones across different bikes, across different situations, different causes, etc). I will do so if health allows it. All the advices you gave are good ones. Accelerating to lighten up the front end is very good, except it's near impossible to execute when the bars are doing many full cycles PER SECONDS. It's impossible to imagine the violence of it. You have to experience it to believe it (hopefully not!). By the way, applying the rear brake is an extremely good thing, and doable regardless of the wobble severity. It transfers weight backwards, which indirectly lighten the front end.

    Dude, you need to clean out the inside until it's shiny before attempting the fit,don't even try to take them back out after they are melted in. It's possible to fit over a pole rested upright and use the tube as a slide hammer like a pile driver. It takes a lot of hits. Super quiet baffles can mess up the running and are marginally less loud than quiet.

  • @TheFortysix2
    @TheFortysix2 Před měsícem

    09 Honda Shadow. Happened like 2 weeks ago. I just let off the gas and applied back brake lightly to slow it down. Turned out the tires were both low on air pressure so keep an eye on that even more than you would on a car. First time that’s ever happened on a motorcycle for me. I have been on a Honda scooter, like 80cc and had a passenger on the back and that was way more terrifying to be honest. Those tiny little tires can wobble faster than a big motorcycle tire can at lower speeds. I don’t know for sure what caused that one but it appeared to only happen when I had a passenger on the back, so after it happened a second time with a passenger, I simply drove it alone from then on. Also it’s possible to lock up your rear brake and “fishtail” or wobble the rear tire. If you ever do that, release the damn brakes immediately. If you’re going to hit something if you don’t brake, you still have to unlock the brake, so you release and reapply the brake, and I have learned an anti locking brake technique by bouncing my foot on the rear brake and you can stop really fast without locking up a tire. A drum brake on the back won’t fishtail nearly as bad as disc brakes in my experience.

    hmmm...I don't think its a difference in tire speeds. Any hard ridden bike, the rear tire is slipping. The wobble is when the front tire is out of alignment with the direction of travel and the rubber is actually bent left, then right, as the motorcycle tries to autocorrect. This happens when the tire comes down on the surface out of true, or when the front slips off a wet line and then grabs, when an irregularity in the road surface (hole, crack, seam, tar snake, or rain grooves) causes the tire to be stretched left or right and the tire tries to self correct, rebounding. We make it worse when we fight the self correction, because we aren't strong enough to hold the bars against the oscillation and we aren't fast enough to correct (the bar will oscillate five or more times in the time we can make one correction.) All you can do is keep speed smooth as you gently slow down, lean forward to help change the wheelbase length, and be loose on the bars so the self correction can occur. The shorter your wheel base, the more twitchy/flickable you are. By compressing the front fork by leaning forward and by reducing throttle gently, you give the bike a better chance to self correct. Accelerating will widen the wheel base, but the true harm is the front tire will have less friction on the smaller contact patch. This can be a blessing, if the tire comes up enough to eliminate the off-alignment of the tire, or it can transfer the wobble to the entire bike and rear end, where now the front and back tires are in combat over where the direction of travel should be. I have never seen someone, once the rear-end is involved in the wobble, ride back out of it.

    The first bike I ever road was a Kymco Like 200i scooter (looks just like a larger Vespa). This happened in the MSF course. In part this has to do with that type of bike's rake and trail, it's actually worse than a sport bike. I caused it by loading up the transmission while getting ready for the emergency swerve exercise. When I released the rear brake to start the run, the bike was almost immediately in a very high speed wobble. I am assuming that it must have lifted the frontend enough to cause it. Because I had no idea what was happening, I continued the exercise and even mostly completely the swerve, but it was a completely insane few seconds. Because I continued to increase speed, it got slightly better before I hit the part of the exercise where you actually swerve, but the uncontrolled nature did have me hitting the imaginary vehicle I was swerving around just slightly. It eventually ended toward the end of the exercise by using the rear brake. I am 100% sure that if this happened to me on the road, I would go to zero throttle and not try to speed through it. I will say when this happens, your mind goes into a sort of overdrive of adrenaline, I have a lot of experience on just regular bikes in my life, so when something strange happens on any kind of bike, my conditioned response is to go loose and give up control and if I were giving advice, that would be mine. Bikes are best when you are giving as few inputs as possible.

    @gradbuckie Před měsícem

    the frame and wheel base on both bikes is ridiculously small/short. if your anything taller than 5'6" you can't ride it and if you do change it enough to stretch out you will still look like a gorilla humping a football. Go with a Triumph at this displacement they are way better bikes.
